Default beta 450rr k7 - any experience? high maintenance??

hey guys,
looking at getting a bike again (still lams).
sadly theres not much in the way of factory SM for sale at the moment,
so thinking of going down the knobly to SM option.

i had a poocart previously, but sold to free us cash as i am going to uni.
my commute has got longer, so thinking bike again.
looking at a 90km round trip 3-4 days a week.

mate has beta450rr that he wants to move, anyone had experience with these?
are they too high maintenance for daily duties?
how hard are parts to source?
anyone coverted these to SM, and cost of doing so vs drz400e?

ive got three more years of uni, should i just purchase a drz400e (low maint, ample parts, do bulk km) and stay with the devil i know?? its either that, or klz250sf *shudder*

thanks!

DRZ400SM..
For commuting without a full salary I wouldnt get anything with an R in its name (race)
I just converted a Ktm enduro to SM and there are a lot of hidden costs.
Without any experience I'd guess that it would be difficult and expensive to convert a Beta? Just do a search for wheels now and see if any come up (Geinhart wheels e.g).
Any exciting dirt bike needs alot of maintenance especially if used on the road.

I used to do 60km round trips 5 days a week on the drz.

It's the only bike you don't have to think about. It just goes and goes and goes.

unanimous call from all, thanks for the reply lads
bit of a bugger, as i could have got the beta at a far better price than all the overpriced high km DRZs for sale at the moment.

the poocart search continues
