With the amount of possible trackday options you have, you could almost give up riding on the road.

Track time gets offered, but not many show...Nothings changed
But it will -
There is a heap of new venues to be opened up next year and a whole new flood of riders coming back from years ago because of that.
It will be a good thing cause there will be the knowledge base at track days again - although the track days are going to be regulated and a licence will be required as time goes on.
The only trackdays you wont need a licence for will be the supermoto exhibition days I am organising.

Geez Muzz, all I ever hear from you is "I'm flying over to test this bike, arranging that supermoto event, then testing this bike"... God I would love to know what your income/job is like to give you such freedom, making some of us wish for a sea-change, slow down! your giving some of us an inferiority complex

Awesome stuff Muzz, keep us up to date.

What's the cost of the licence/club and is there going to be a "supermoto club" or will we have to join Preston/Harley/Hartwell?

mixd
08-12-2010, 12:43 PM
Guys just spoke with S/Creek, obviously besides the midweek ride days(which would be brilliant) Callum seems to think the next dates we will get on a Sunday will be in late Jan to Feduary sometime.
Which is still a good thing and gives time for people to get their bikes together etc.

We should also look at a TT day and a weekday TT day...keep everyone posted guys.

With regards to the sliders.

On the weekend just gone, I had a moment at the track and came off. It was good to see there was no track damage at all. I had axle, peg, bar end and muffler sliders on.

There were some very obvious white marks left, that looked like gouges in the track. But they were actually just white stripes added to the top of the track surface, made up of my white slider material.

-tk-
09-12-2010, 05:41 PM
Can't say enough about having sliders...!!!

For both of my little excursions to the side of the track the sliders both protected the track and my bike. Certainly is a very worthwhile expense...

I could not agree more:up:
I threw the bike down the track a couple of months ago and ended up with the following damage bill :-

Bike = $10
Leathers = $1.95
Helmet = $450(but it's verrrry nice and light @ less than a kilo)

The conclusion for me is that the axle and bar/guard sliders saved me a wallet full of cash:up:

09-12-2010, 07:00 PM
Yeah when I did my low side while doing probably 90kph the sliders just took it all you could hardly tell anything happened to the bike.

Ummmm for those that weren't there the 90ks was more 19ks:lol:

Thats because I'm the only one actually proactively pushing and trying to find support in Victoria.
Track days are not finding support - nor enough riders to convince a promoter to step up.
Proof is in the piss weak amount of entries for the Winton rounds this coming weekend.

I get to test bikes because I have the knowledge base surrounding motards.

My income is pitiful but I get supplied with a lot of ex gratia bonuses.
I dont work as such like Shane -
I'm 'recreationally enhanced'

Yes I am in discussion with several businesses currently with a view to rebranding supermoto here in Victoria.
I have had good feedback and have been given the go ahead to organise quotations and infrastructure costings to provide urbancross sections to a series of proposed events and have support of Industry while doing so.
Whether I have the support of the forum here is supernumerary to what is really happening and always has been.
If you build it they will come -
Only if you build it simple, to a budget and make it equitable to all.

I wouldn't have to do half the things I do now if we had a Representative to MV - MA
Without the sport being autonomous as such in Victoria or regulated by its own Club base with a strategic plan for direction, if I step back now you have nothing for years to come.
Who else is actually discussing options and searching support through Industry channels in Victoria?
Have you spoken to Brand Events?
Yarrive Konsky and IEG?
Matthew Ronke?
Motorsport Insurance Australia?
Hart & Huntington?
RedBull?
Motorcycling Victoria / Australia?
Karting Clubs and local MX Clubs with kartways in the same region?
The Hillclimbing Association?
AASA?
Have you actually proactively done anything for the overall good and wellbeing for us as a community?

Please dont criticize me for having a go, as I have been prior to you finding the sport, trying to resurrect what was a shitful experience in the sport in Victoria after someone else fucked it up.

I have treated several members on here for a reduced rate and some for free who I know have financial issues, who have required medical assistance. Does that count as helping the community's well being? or you didn't mean that literally?

I have nothing against you Muzz trying to achieve all that you set out to do, but (I'm not saying I could do any better), I've just never seen or heard of any results. Which is also fine as not everyone is meant to succeed at their endevours, but its the way you claim ownership of everything and tell everyone how it is, that's where I feel you fall down. Proof is in the pudding mate, and I don't see any. This isn't a dictatorship and this isn't just a "sport", its a way of life, meaning lots of different people will be in it for lots of different reasons, and all those reasons are just as valid as each others. Yet you feel there's a hierarchy to it, and that is wrong.

I've never met you, and can only judge you by the impression you've given to others and the way you conduct yourself on this forum, and I feel your too driven by ego and the need for recognition, you lack humility.

I just don't feel you have the right character to be a spokesperson for this sport, sorry.

Good luck at proving me wrong, as I'm sure you will, I wish you all the best mate.

I am intense about everything in my life -
Dont mix that up with what you perceive to be egomanical behaviour.

Rome wasnt built in a day Steve and I think you would accept that -
What you also need to accept is due to the state of affairs in supermoto in Victoria its still a long term plan to have it as the other disciplines do, a plan that was conceived some time ago with an expectation of it being long term to succeed.
What you might not be aware of is that several promoters have had a go in Victoria in just the last 5 years.
I assisted them in the planning and setup stages of the events along with encouraging others to have a go - the events went well but were not financially rewarding.
All 3 were delacred bankrupts and no longer involved with supermoto on any level.
We havent had the numbers, thats obvious, and still need them to survive and stay in step with everyone else.
I post information to keep it alive - so the despondancy doesnt creep in like it did early on (2003/4) with blokes selling bikes and moving away with no eventing taking place.
It will happen just not overnight.

Besides that -
Mick has done a great job opening up Stony Creek for use
I see it as a great mid week track day option with little other users.

I am greatfull to Muz and all the other people working tirelessly to try and help those of us ungrates in the general community. I would love to attend more track days that you guys organise but time and money always get in the way, mostly the lack of. My DRZ is almost ready to go and I do hope to meet some of you in the near future at a track or on the road. Please stop this seemingly pointless bickering it is not going to help. The talk of some sort of supermoto specific club would be good especially if in the future we require licenses to participate. Another track day at Stoney Creek or TT mid week or any day between now and Jan 10 would be great and I will try to be there. Maybe I should try and meet Hoobz, us newbys need to ride together.
