Sorry mate, gunna be starting my 4x4 shopping this weekend incase I find something I wanna trade the SS on before it goes up to Charleston on consignment on Monday.
Don't think the po-po would like me not having lights or treaded tyres either!

Lucky the good sumo roads aren't highly policed usually!

11-10-2010, 10:21 AM
i was on that ride, we were in the city and got pulled up by a couple of chicks on horses, they gave out bikes the once over and we allgot done for the same thing: no rear mudguard.

so now gotta change indicators, exhaust, put the gay mudguard back on, chain guard back on and go to regency.

yay

for those that got defected on last ride just one question...how can a couple of police chicks riding bare back stop 5 motard's? did the horse shit on the road and caused a road block

poomie

martin_drz
12-10-2010, 11:21 AM
lol actually the horse did shit

we rode into a little side street as they were coming out of it, no way out really

souper_mowt_hard
12-10-2010, 12:37 PM
no way out? dude, you're on motard :P

Nah seriously that sucks though, whats the point? Defecting a few guys on their bikes for rear mud flaps helping to serve the community and save lives is it? Pffff. How does that work anyway, defect you guys for that when they're riding horses, shitting everywhere with no indicators or anything lol

Should have told them that joke : what animal has a c**t half way along its back? Police horse!! hehehe heheheh.........then pin it.

Haha lol..

maybe you could have suggested a little bareback riding with them..

seriously tho, for them to get off their horses and get you guys for mudguards shows they must have us in their sights this summer... damn bastiges.

12-10-2010, 03:34 PM
what a load of bollocks...they would a field day on my bike , hey was the police chicks hot or some battle axe's with mustache's?

the one that defected me was actually not bad for an older chick. Her mate was a bit of a bush pig.

I cant believe i have a shiny FMF pipe on my bike, no chain guard, front left indicator is out and i got done for no mud guard.

I suppose the mudguard was easiest to notice and now i have to change everything anyway

Well, ya hear so many different stories from people been through regency and here is mine!

In my experience with them, they were really tough on what needs to be on the bike and what not to have so make sure you have the following as I nearly had to go back to be retested which would of cost more again!!!!!

If your bike came of the show room floor with the little bolt that makes your side stand self retract, then put it on!
Mine was in the back of spares I got from the bike shop when I bought mine and did not even cross my mind that it was required but after much pleading and 3 blokes umming and ahhing about it they decided that it did retract quite easily if it got a small knock and finally allowed it through but this was the bit that nearly saw me for a retest.

They also ticked off on their little clip board things like:-

Mirrors x 2
Relectors on the forks x 2 (luckily the bike was still brand new and I had not ripped them off yet!) these apparently are there for a side on point?
engine cut out switch on the stand or clutch.
High/low beam
brake light off both levers
indicators
Number plate at 90 degrees from the ground and number plate extender must be low enough if they draw a line between both axles and then take a line at 45 degrees from the rear axle the bottom of the holder must meet that line! (If you have the standard one your bike came with that will be correct?)
Rear reflector at 90 degrees to the road. (The test bloke actually was really good to me on this one and told me he was very thirsty and needed a long dring while he pointed at an open tool box on the bench and suggested I "may" find a spanner in there that could make my little issue go away! So he watch and drank as I fondled his toolbox and rearranged my nuts so the reflector was in the right spot to which he returned and said "now where was I? Ah that's right , reflector? Yep, looks good!"
Tread wear indicators and dot approved tyres. (" for racing use only" does not work here!)
Had to ride the bike in at slow speed and demonstrate that the front and rear brake work independantly. (No helmet though?)
Exhaust noise.
The bloke was really good about the whole deal and agreed that the Cops were heavy handed that particular weekend as they had heaps of bikes come through for the same reason from the Strath run.

They were tuff, but they were only doing what they get paid for.
I guess, if you go in with a good attitude then it will always help as I watched a dude go off at one of the inspectors on his nissan 180sx for ground clearence and they just said "please take a seat sir as you will now be here a lot longer"!:D

Also saw a dude ride a harley in and leave a big blackie on their shiny concrete floor demonstrating that his back brake worked but they all just had a giggle at that.:)

Not keen to go through that again so my bike remains standard and poxy looking on the road (appart from the aftermarket muffler) and the junk gets dropped for the track.

Good luck!, hope your experience with them is better than mine.

So Dumprun, if the bikes been converted to SuMo the dirt wheels would have to go back on.
What about front brake upgrades to sm front ends. original disc, caliper and M/C to go back on too or not?

Do they get the spec sheet out for the year of the bike?

I've not had the pleasure of getting a defect or one removed.

Dumprun
12-10-2010, 11:37 PM
Yep, I put it back to how I wheeled it out of the show room. (Dirt trim.)

On the day of defect it was really quite annoying. After I was given a yellow sticker (try fining a windscreen on a dirt bike ya bastards!:D) One of the coppers came over and was really interested on how it goes as a motard and what is involved in building one as he had an XR650 he wanted to tard! (Do as I say, not as I do syndrome me thinks!)
I have 2 mates that I race with that are bike cops and name dropping didn't help me either as neither of them were on that morning.
I made sure I rang them when I got home and gave them heaps for having a day off when I most needed them!:D

They did not care about any thing else other than the number plate holder and he didn't fine us because he felt it was going to cost us enough to go over the pit!

I reckon it was $168 to go over the pit:confused:

As my mate pointed out though, Ïf you only given us 48 hours to get home can you please stop talking and let us continue our ride?

Suprised we didn't get a ticket for that one!

My mate was on a Triumph speed tripple and got done for the same thing. (Obviously he had a lot less work to get his across the pit though!

Did ya ever notice how many of these silly little face things ya use to make ya story sound better? !:D:);):p8):up::down::oops::twisted::evil:
They should be banned!

hey dave, wen my wrf got defected at the start or the year for tail tidy, no mirrors, indercators, or chain guard the popo didnt say a thing bout the motard wheels/ brembo caliper/ master or braded line.......
then wen i took it to regency (totally stock trim with nobblies) i asked the inspector bout motard wheels/ brakes and he said it was ok because it made the bike better to ride on the road and safer.

I had to take the berg through regency when i brought it from interstate they made me put a chain guard on it,they claimed the fold down mirror was a right hand side mirror on left hand side and also the side stand need to flick up as soon as bike was lifted or a kill switch on it. The didnt even worry about the akcropovic exhaust.

I was defected in my car by a horse mounted police officer.I REALLY did think they were kidding around.
When I used to work for a car yard we used to take cars to regency all the time. We used to go at certain times of the day. There was always a line up of car dealers at the same time to put the pressure on them to push them through.

Makes a massive difference with the po-po as well

i asked the inspector bout motard wheels/ brakes and he said it was ok because it made the bike better to ride on the road and safer.

Thats the beauty of discretion(and common sense) coz technically they aint legal without an engineers certificate. I worry about this for insurance if I ever need to claim.
