I've booked myself in for this one. Does anyone know how the noise restrictions are measured at Marulan? Standard 45 degrees, back two metres?
I've got an aftermarket pipe on my bike (KTM 530) and would like to leave it on if possible. I haven't checked to see how much louder than standard it is, but it doesn't sound too loud to me ;). I'll bring the standard pipe just in case though.

If its a cloudy day, you will need the stock one back on, and even if its not, best to do it anyway, save any dramas on the day.

I got caught out with my arrow on my 450. At the end of the day, even if you arent at the limit, its best to make as little noise as possible.

Cheers. The original has been in bubble wrap since I got the bike, so my question was really in hope of not having to undo the two bolts and sping to make the change. I might measure the noise difference between the two when I get around to making the swap.

the sound meter is on a post at the side of the track. So it gets you as you come down the straight.
He was having trouble with noise complaints.

Its actually on the other side of the top hairpin that it gets you. I had to back off across the back or go home last time I was there.

Is anyone else here looking to head down to Maurlan this Saturday?

I've got a few minor things to sort out (like fitting my bike in the back of my troopcarrier) but am confident I'll find a way to make it happen.

Between Marulan on Saturday, eastern creek last Tuesday and the motoGP on the weekend I've had very little time to think about anything other than bikes... and I like it.

After riding EC, Marulan will be a walk in the park.

Also, keep your Diary free for 16th of November for another road at EC - will be running 4pm-10pm.

The forecast was for late morning showers and an early afternoon thunderstorm so I left Sydney at 5.30am after what I'll call a minor struggle fitting the KTM into the back of my troopy (without a ramp).
I'm still amazed at how wrong the weather forecasters can be without any consequences. Yesterday was one occasion where I was glad they got it wrong. Not a drop of rain the whole day. We finished up at about 2.30 or 3pm after quite a few sessions and no major damage to bikes or egos. There were a few close calls and a few minor spills, but the bikes and riders were up and running within seconds each time. The hamburgers and Powerades at lunchtime kept us going well into the afternoon and gave us time to have a well deserved break.
Considering there were only 9 of us on the track all day there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and have a great time.
My cousin was there on his brand new (750kms) Triumph Daytona 675. He was super excited after his ride to the track fro Canberra. It was his first track day, and was close to being memorable for the wrong reasons on his first (warm-up) lap. My advise was 'take it easy... at least for a few laps'. His response was overshooting the first corner at the end of the straight and leaving a big black line going straight off into the dirt - and probably a big brown line in his undies.
The morning sessions were captured by (sorry forgot his name) from oneimage (link below):

I got a few random pics in the pit area and one to show the tight squeeze I had to wrestle with in my drive-way when I got home (thanks for the help loading the bike guys). If anyone has a jetski trailer, or knows someone who's willing to sell one for a reasonable price, please let me know because I'm not prepared to load the bike in the troopy on a regular basis.
Gary and the crew put on an awesome day. Overall I think everyone had a great time and I'm sure I'll be out there again some time soon.
Cheers,
Dave.
