Hey
So i recently got a Berg Motard

http://www.husaberg.com.au/files/bikeimage.php?i=64&w=800

Id like to turn it into a semi stunt/crashable bike.
Already purchased axel oggies, next on the list is enduro hand guards.
Also looking for some engine/crank case protection and something for the rear if need be. Thats the easy stuff.

What i also would love to do is have a custom rear mud guard, and have an under seat exhaust... maybe with a 12 bar (in case i ever get that good), and also some passanger pegs for standups.

Just wated some feedback/abuse if anyone has done something like this, or knows any places in 'Ye Olde WA' that can help.

Cheers
Mez

Don't put enduro hand gaurds if you are stunting you could go over the bars and break your wrists!! I just use roost guards

If you go with Ash's idea, wrap teflon tape (plumbers tape) arount the bar where the perch will go. This will allow the perch to slip on the bar when you crash and not break the lever. Trust me, it works a treat!

I have been over the bars with Bark Busters and did not break my writs and have been over the bars with out bark busters and broke my hand, but that was from the pounding the ground gave me not the bike, as my bike loves me.

If you don't want enclosed hand guards, you can get bar-end oggies. Maybe a set of peg sliders would be handy too.

If you're going to "learn" stunting don't get an under tail exhaust, every time you flip a mono backwards you'll land on the pipe. . . $$$, i'm learning at the moment and have got a nice short pipe on the side, so when i go over backwards i stuff the rear guard but not the pipe.

Mr Mez,

Park that new shiny berg in the shed and buy a shitter to flog the ring out of, sell the shitter once trashed. Bring the still new shiny berg out of the shed and enjoy.
three cents worth.

Hey Agent,

The XR is going great, it's in the shop getting a Vortex ignition and lightened flywheel at the moment.

I went to a track day at Oran Park a couple of weekends ago and got the race bug, i've been investigating starting racing. It seems the only class i can go in is "lightweight" but it sounds like the bike would be competitive in that class.

When is your next race in Sydney? i'd like to drop in and see what i need to do to get into a club and start racing.

Tom.

A couple of us on Motards and some road bikes are booked into a track at Oran Park for 27 August, wanna come?

Tom,

There is only one area that you can race in with a japanese single, Eastcoast race series which has now been completed, although there is a five hour relay at Wakfield in august.

St George M/c club run a great meeting where you can race in lighweights class. I always cross enter form the BEARS F5 class, so that i get a full days racing and the singles are pretty competative.
What you need is;
join a club - membership
get race license - Motorcyling NSW - about $200 bucks - get national
prep your bike - 4 hours work and a little help form me
entry form - from St George

I have not done to much racing lately as moving house and work has got in the way bu tmay be keen to have a run at Oran Park, i love that track.

Will investigate the date and let you know.
The xr is turning into a beast by the sounds of it.

Thanks,

Just filled in and mailed a membership form. I'll head along to their meeting next Wednesday to see what i can find out about the race and lightweight class.

Not sure if i can get a licence and prep the bike in time for 6 August, but i'm definately going to try.

Happy to help out where i can, I actually have to prep my new bike, so if you want to bring it over we can do it at the same time.
you need to;

drill sump plug, tape up lights and indicators, drill radiator cap

there is a really good how to guide on ducati nsw website that should
give you all the information you need.

i have wire and plyers. I will probably be doing my bike on this sunday or next weekend.

If you can make it then you can put your bike in my trailor and hop in the car with me for the ride down and back.

Agent,

I went to the St George meeting the other night, signed up, and put in an application for an MA licence today.

I don't think i'll have the bike ready for the race on the 6th, supposedly i need new levers since i cut the ends off them to fit inside my barkbusters. I will come down to watch the races though, so i might see you there ( i noticed there is another XR650 registered in lightweight class so i wouldn't mind seeing how he goes).

I should be ready for the 5hr race in Sept though, so if you hear of anyone interested in putting a "wooden spoon" team together, i might be interested in that. If not i'll probably still go down for the practice day on the saturday.

I'm only going for practice on saturday and racing in BEARS on sunday, cross entering in the lightweights nearly killed me last time, not very fit to do ten 5 lap races virtually in a row, it was end one race and grid up in the dummy area for the warm up lap. Fore arm pump Big time.
great day though took out Secon place in the Lightweight class though and third place in BEARS. I will have a spare ticket that i can leave at the gate for you or put it in the mail if you are comming down.

We are trying to put a team together for the race in September, although , three (3) seconds per lap down on a super bike it a lot after 5 hours, but it equates to about 1 hour of racing each at 20minute stints.
