Could be an interesting event. I've entered for the racing and Friday practice. Anyone else keen to dodge various bit of car bumpers and debris on the new long track with me. First event on it so lap records will be set and broken all weekend long.

Probably no 'Challenge' race at the end of the weekend for this one though ;)

I won't be racing. But I will be flagging or performing some other official duties though.

Do you have a race licence? if so, fill out the entry form, send it in by fax, email or post, pay and then turn up and race. Easy

If you don't have a race licence, Join a club, get a race licence then follow the above. I think there may be one event licences available which means you don't have to join or pay for a one year licence.

The new turn 9 is going to be flat out.

Ross, unless you've got something up your sleeve, you're going to be limited by hp. Gear it as tall as she'll pull, cos that's going to be 200+ on the apes, i'll bet.

Come on guys, get your entries in for this, its the cheapest weekend racing you'll get this year!! Sheralyn had a big moan about late entries last race meeting so if you wait until the last minute you may miss out.

Only appears to be 3 of us entered thus far....

Hey guy's,
Is this definitely going to be only on bitumen, i thought out at the superbike weekend, Relphy and Jove were saying there should be dirt sections in for us at this event?

lee#25

I highly doubt there will be dirt.

I highly doubt there will be dirt.

Rumor is there isn't...

But we will be running it at Cameron park ;)

I have heard a rumor that there will be a simple dirt section - nothing fancy but dirt all the same. I guess they'll clear it up at the club meeting next week.

I guess it doesn't matter either way if we don't get some more supermoto entries soon.

Do you think they'll can us Tom ??

TG

It'd be hard to run a class with only 3 entries. We should get enough entries but it's not looking great so far.

Its a tough date with half the regulars probably doing the the Qld Road Race the following weekend.

I can understand people's reluctance to nominate based on the will there/wont there be a dirt section issue, this should have been sorted out ages ago and should be in the supp regs for the event. People who want to race shouldn't have to base their decision on rumour and conjecture.

From the time I first time I heard about this event, it was mentioned there would be a dirt section for Supermoto, this still seem to be the case but with nothing definite in writing, no wonder people are holding back.

I cant see why they would put in a dirt section just for 3 or 4 races just for us when there is probably 15 other classes (cars & Bikes) that wont get any benefit out of having it there ???

Seems like an odd thing to have even suggested consider the meeting it is and that they don't even consider it for bikes only meetings normally.....

A dirt section has been under consideraation at Morgan Park as part of the general track upgrade. The plan being we could run Motard specific meets or Motard and RR meets like at ASBK.

The track owner is very pro-bikes and anything that gets more bikes there will keep him and us happy :)

Don't discount it happening until we hear the final word. Lee, I know you're shit scared about the prospect of dirt but you'll be ok ;)

Hahaaa good on ya mate :p ....shit scared....pffftt ;)

I wasn't aware that there was plans for a permanent dirt section for MP. That's progress for you if it happens!!

If there is going to be, why cant they just announce it and then bloody do it. I'll be gutted if we get canned through lack of entries. I want to try out my new brakes

Was there any talk about this event at the sporties meeting on Monday night ?? Is there actually more entrants than on the published (thus far) list ??

TG
07-09-2010, 04:38 PM
Yeah we should get a run Lee. There are a few who still had to put entries in. A quick count says at least 8 but hopefully more.

Racing will be on circuit G (Pic attached). Which looks pretty awesome. A simple dirt section is definitely on the cards (if it is dry enough - they have had a bit of rain lately).

the options are a dirt section if the intended dirt area is dry enough or track g which will be the track we will most likely use moving forward.

it could very well happen the track with dirt could be used next year.

its a cheap race meet and should be gr8 fun

I had an interesting weekend.

Hammered down with rain all Friday. Water flowing across the track in places. First session tip-toed round on slicks. Second session put wets on and had a bit of a go.

We ran on the full circuit on the Saturday.

In qualifying I went pretty well for the first few laps. It was really wet with water flowing across the track in places. Jov said I was on pole until I had to come in because my throttle assembly worked its way loose and I had to pit and fix it. Had to give it a full turn to get full throttle.

Race 1 I got a pretty good start. It hammered down with rain after the first lap after being nearly dry. Relphy crashed on Turn 7 and Fuji ran off to avoid him. I was running in 3rd until turn 7 got me too. Lost 3 positions and made back 1 for 5th.

Raced on the awesome short track on the Sunday. Race 2 was drying with a bit of water over track still in places. Almost everyone was on wet fronts and slick/wet rear tyres. Finished 6th I thing after an awesome battle with Fuji. We must've passed back and forth 5 or 6 times.

Race 3 most went back to slicks. The new track is going to be awesome with some practice. Finished 5th after being really off line into turn 1 and 2 off the start. Had to work my way around Brett (RMZ500) and Mick (540SMR) who were still on wets. Couldn't catch the lead pack but had a great time trying.

Current lap record holder is Kym Gross on the KXF450 at 1:10 flat I believe.

Thanks Tom......I am disappointed I couldn't do last weekend or this weekend but look forward to doing the last SD round.

Track G does look like fun! Will be even better with some dirt!!!
