Townsville hosted the North Queensland Road Racing Championships on the weekend. Motard entries were down due to a date clash with some poxy dirt event but there was still about 10 of us who fronted

Practice was a bit average with everyone struggling with the grip levels. All the motards were showing pretty good pace tho.

Qualifying was wet and we pottered around on slicks. All of a sudden the sole poo cart became competitive  Anyway after a "slight" timing oops i qualified 5th or 6th. After a brief discussion with the boys we all decided to leave the grid positions as they stand and let the club worry about other more important stuff.

Race one start looked kinda hectic from where i was looking so when Brendan212 gave me a glimps of about 3inches of trackk on the outside i took it and got through to the lead which i held to the flag. Lucky for us the track had dried and we were able to have some fun.

Race two i started from pole but one lap in i overshot turn one. Rejoining just behind Tim Lusk( gixer82 ) and Warren Gill who lead the duo at the time was the best move i could have made. The boys were having a huge battle. Tim seemed to have a bit more speed but he was struggling to get by. After a couple of very entertaining laps i got off my arse and slipped up the front for the win. Sorry if i freaked you out in turn 3 wazza hehe:twisted:

The last race i thought id just let the other pair go first off the start so i could see some action again and sure enough it was on. It was interesting too watch Tim change up his lines through t1 andt2 after some advice i gave him after the previos race began making sense to him and it gave him a great run into t3 where he simply rode around warren in the same place i did with room to spare. Straight away tim was breaking away so i slipped past warren chased down tim. After a few more laps it was time to go but tim didnt make it easy and i had to really put one on him to get by for the final win of the day.

All up it was an awesome weekend held by an awesome club. Those Townsville MCC guys and girls run such great meetings its a real credit to them.

We all had fun, had some beers, i flagged for the 1hr bucket race which was fun and i got to go for a scratch on the moriwaki. Great friends, great club, great fun

Nice report Ross. It's great racing against the same blokes and having a good old tussle all while being gentlemen and not trying to take each other out but still make passes all the same.

Got any pics from the weekend?

Hey Rossco,
Better late than never, heard from Jason after his big get off at Mako track. Broken collar bone and some bleeding on the brain in 2 spots. But is on medication and seems to be ok, and in high spirits.
See you around next season.
Cheers, Jason B

Oh thank god. It must have been a massive crash. It would have been a good 60sec or so from when i saw him lifeless on the ground to when i could shortcut back to him then maybe another 10 min or so before he started to respond in the slightest. It was a bit hard to deal with.

Give him all my best and hope he is mobile again soon
