Righto guys, I know we have a TT day getting organised for the 11th of April but over Easter on one of the four days...assumng Saturday or Monday I am keen for a TT session.
If we don't get the numbers well it can simply turn into a Vic road ride...although the normal ride roads will be infested with the poll-eese.
Anyway whos keen for what??

SlickNCGhia
29-03-2010, 01:29 PM
being that the next weekend is a TT day. how about a road ride.

kinglake. black spur, some dirt and back?

Ben I am up for that on one of the four days as well. I would almost consider going for muck around Port Melb, Footscray and a few other secret squirell spots to avoid the law:D
Because over easter the cops go crazy and I am sure they would have a field day on a heap op tards with no indicators, exhaust screaming etc.

SlickNCGhia
29-03-2010, 02:43 PM
yeah im down with that

I'd be interested in a road ride too. preferably no dirt...

why have u got no indicators?

SlickNCGhia
29-03-2010, 03:03 PM
whats wrong with dirt people? its 50% of tardin

Got them on the rear just not on the front. I am not all that stressed if you really feel the need to go for a ride through the most police dense roads in Victoria on Easter weekend. I will live with it...just reckon their would be more "enjoyable" places to ride without the hassle of getting pulled over.
Besides I would think not having a couple of front indicators is the last thing they are going to worry about...

just dont go doing warp speeds on reefton spur. another guy on a ktm did that recently and ended up in the shit:up:

Nothing wrong with dirt, but with next to zero dirt experience, and my last dirt excursion left me with a broken collarbone and cost me a ton of cash. I'm a little aprehensive of dirt riding on road tyres...

I'd be keen for a road / dirt ride if you guys end up going on the Monday, if you don't mind a n00b tagging along!

I'm heading back to my folks for the other days to Albury...hopefully to find some good brarping down there, haha!

if you guys ever want to do a "begginer dirt day" we can organise that im sure there are tonnes of people here that are far better on dirt than me, but if no-one puts there hand up i can take you through some easyish trails and fire roads.

mixd
30-03-2010, 08:16 AM
Even if we just go where we went the other weekend. For those that want to get a bit serious could venture into Toolangi and for those that don't want could just muck around on that fire road(or whatever you call it) that we were on.

SlickNCGhia
30-03-2010, 08:28 AM
toolangi is fine if you take the easy trails. trust me ;) itll be fine. theres plenty of easy dirt trails and tiny practice jumps and stuff. i might do a reccy during the week if i get time

huskyboy610
30-03-2010, 08:44 AM
charlie and I know a pretty challenging trail in Toolanghi if anyone's game. ;)

there's heaps of easy trails in gembrook. i went there heaps for easy dirt riding.

SlickNCGhia
30-03-2010, 08:50 AM
i know a good one there too. i also know an awesome one at cobaw but i only manage to find it about 30% of the time. single track, crazy up hills of sheer rock...madness. but awesome when you make it.

but yeah. theres plenty of easy stuff too. fuck it im gee'd up for a ride now :P

It's more about the surface on a tard. If you go to Wesburn this time of year the surface is pretty well packed clay to there is plenty of grip but you still need to ride with in yourselfif you're learning. I'm heading up there on Friday morning early on the 610 My GF is taking her Puzey and she's very much a begginer on bikes full stop.
BUt it will be early as I have a heap to do before I go OS on Saturday.

Flash
30-03-2010, 08:53 AM
Oh yeah I'm coming back from a broken wrist/hand and Knuckle and this will be my first ride off road, so I'll be taking it pretty easy as well

SlickNCGhia
30-03-2010, 08:55 AM
jeez wesburn is a way from you guys.

you trailering it?

Nuh mate I live in the Dandenongs now. I will be trailering it up there because the Puzey is only Rec reg'd

So what's the general consensus on what day? I'd prefer to do something on the Monday, could probably wrangle my schedule around something if Friday suits more. Out of down over the weekend though.

Yes, by the looks we have a ride Friday...yet to be confirmed where/when etc. And a TT day Monday. Do you still have the loaner leathersand would they fit tall Ben?? I will call them tomorrow to make sure we will be god for Monday.

SlickNCGhia
31-03-2010, 03:48 PM
yeah TT on monday sounds good.

if you guys want to do a road ride on friday im down with that.

I found a nice little route today that has some fun easy dirt (read little tinny weeny jumps) and plenty of twisties. read kingy to tooly to black spur and reefton.

plus i found some tardable singletrack if anyone wants to get adventurous. if i can get the brp up there on road tyres you should be right.

yeah if anyone can bring some spare 44's on monday that would be sweet. :D

huskyboy610
31-03-2010, 04:02 PM
I can't ride Friday at this point :(
Hopefully I'll have a ride on Saturday with a hot blonde on an R6 to make up for it :D

But definitely in for TT on monday.

31-03-2010, 04:11 PM
what distances between fuel stops is this friday ride?

pixsoul
31-03-2010, 04:24 PM
I'm def down for friday I reckon.

Count me out on monday, I haven't got leathers yet....you need leathers at TT right?

SlickNCGhia
31-03-2010, 04:37 PM
you dont need em but its smart. i ruined an expensive set of kevlar jeans having a slide.

distances between fuell stops wont be more than 100k and can be less if required. basically we will fill up at hurstbridge and then fill up again in healsville. thatll be the furtherest distance and is about 80 kms max.

pace wont be earth shattering plus if we go dirt it will all be nice and slow. i dont want to crash and if i do i'd rather at 20km/h than 80 :P

Fazio
31-03-2010, 05:24 PM
i have shanes leathers, theyd be about a 42 - 44 my guess 44
i have a set of collins (which are amazingly comfortable and look ace!) now so someones more than welcome to shanes.

im 5'9 and about 75 kg
but anyone up to 5'11 to 85 would probably fit

friday sounds good as well, might leave you somewhere on the healsville side and head to the farm from there

pixsoul
31-03-2010, 05:32 PM
Cool friday sounds good :)

....might go monday too if you don't need leathers. I wouldn't plan on pushing it that hard (famous last words?). I'll see how I go anyway, might not get back from albury in time for mon.

Fazio; I'm 6ft on the knocker, 85kg....I'd be just a bit too big for them I reckon?

I reckon I am 97.93% in...I am concerned about the amount of unwanted attention that will be out and about. I have the ever popular(on this forum) 1 point left and really can not go without a license in my line of work.
It is easy to say just do the limit etc. but when those little horns kick in and you get stuck behind a car it is very hard not to find yourself do something that would easily cost me that point.
I am keen for Kinglake into some jumps...although small ones  but don't have a lot of interest in any of the spurs.
All that plus my brother...that I haven't seen in years, flew in yesterday and tonight might be later than I had originally anticipated.

The easy way is using an air compressor, blowing air into fluid hole and making sure you put a piece of wood between the pistons so when they fly out they don't hit each other or you in the head.

was the servo guage digital or old school?
i've heard the digital servo ones are less than accurate.

that reminds me....has anyone else found a way to get the old school servo air pumps to attach to spoked wheels?
buggered if i can use them on my Husky i can only get the smaller digital ones to connect

Enter the wheel from opposite the valve and line the connector to the vlave over the hub so the 'handle' of the connector is in a position to attach to the valve and the tube from it swings out of the spokes/wheel to the guage/switch itself to which the hose is connected too. Confused yet?

mixd
06-04-2010, 02:00 PM
As Markee said...you've kind of got to start your run at the valve from opposite side(so you kind of put the pump into the spokes/rim itself, if that makes sense) and then try to come straight on to the valve. Not always do-able. Most servo gauges a not that crash hot.
A good thing to get, particularly for track days, is your own, decent gauge...although they are not all that cheap.
