Who's coming?
It's a plan at this stage, I'd like to get a few km's on the bike so I can get it run in, get it serviced and start giving it the berries.
I have finished fully de-restricting it tonight. :)
I have next w/end off and wouldn't mind a ride in between the SBK and the MotoGP on both Sat & Sunday this coming weekend.
Let me know if you are interested.

I'm in 100%! I'm!...So!...In!
Rain, hail, or snow I’m in. I actually like that sort of thing. Helps go sideways with out ripping apart the tyres :lol2: ...and mine needs running in to. So who cares about the weather. Just rug up good and lets go.

Hell,
I might even thaw out the mootard and tag along...
Not exactly sure as the kids are here at the moment, but one has to be returned to Melbourne this weekend and the ute needs a run...

You blokes understand that to ride the Spurs at the moment means every chance of having some expensive off and along the road type activities.
Its as slippery as a shaved and well oiled cat and that doesnt include the icy sections that are really friggin' snow...

Flash, I use to ride a 250Kg bike (R1150GS Adventure) off road so now that I’ve got a bike that wais just 140Kg I’m up for anything which includes warby or the Alpine icy/snowy mountains. I don’t care. Let it snow, let there be rocks, logs, mud with slick tyres I’ll go any where let’s just fucking ride!!!! I wana ride, god damn it!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaahh!!!!!! :acid:
I’ve been on this forum for six months and still no ride! Aaaaaaaaaahh!!!:anal:

Standard disclaimer.
The fact that I posted a 'let's ride' thread doesn't mean you can sue me for repairs to your bike if you run out of talent. :) Hmmm,k?
Muzzard has a very valid point. The spurs, particularly the Black Spur can be very slippery at this time of year. Some corners, where the water runoff from the cuttings flow, can even have moss on them.
Not so flash for traction.
Law of averages in a group of 5 or 6 riding 'tards on slippery roads someones gonna get intimate with mother earth.
By coming on this ride you accept the terms & conditions of this EULA. :P

I'm purely a tarmac fiend so I'm not planning any dirt but we can split up and meet up later or whatever.

Can any prospective participants suggest a meeting point?

If we go to the Spurs I always say: Clipstone Yamaha at 52 Maroondah HWY, Ringwood.

Flash, I did unfortunately get over exited and committed to Reefton too soon. But I’m a man of my word and “I’m in 100%” means I’m in “110%.”
I would prefer to do off-roading this time. But a dog is a bitch with out keeping his word.
But you know what ash? Many of the times I’ve ridden down Reefton I spotted some very interesting trails on the up hill side of the road. Maybe we could go and explore them?

I saw the guy in front of me try exploring one of those side roads with a GSXR750 once. oops.
Wasn't too bad off road. He kept it up. :)

I'll be honest if it's going to be wet we have no chance off road, we'd need knobbies! I might look at taking my YZ out on sumday instead. :-k

That’s hilarious. Good effort though. Some of those trails have man made jumps about a meter in hight and only a two meters in length. I bet he didn’t try toughs with the GXSR.
Have you seen that crazy video of the guy jumping his GSXR ten feet up in the air?

Hay SMC625, if it’s raining can we go anyway? ;)

21-06-2006, 06:04 PM
lol. Yeah. Why not...
I'm pretty happy with these Pirelli Scorpions the bike came with. They seem pretty sticky so far and have huge grooves for dispersing the H20.
I was hoping to swap to Pilot Race or GPR70 Rideens on delivery but I just wanted to get the bike and changing tyres would have delayed that a few more days.
I was told I didn't have Saturday off anymore so Sunday was going to be a bit of a push but I believe we are going to pull an all nighter Tuesday night to stocktake..........fuckin' grumble.
Clipstone is good.
Too early will still be wet roads and dopey drivers so who can suggest a not too early but not too late time? :)
Is there somewhere around there I can get a good strong coffee? :D

There is a place at Eastland theat me and Neil stopped at last Saturday on the main runthrough near where the buses stop.
I think you'll find the roads will be wet up there all day, so just go early. :D

Reefton is an unpredictable mistress. Once I was riding to get there and the whole way it was raining but when I got there the road was dry as a bone. Another time it was threatening to rain it didn’t and the road was dry on the way but when I got there it was wet the whole time. I waited all day for one dry run cos I had a one-off camera installed on my wind shield (on the XTX) but when ever it started drying; down came the rain again…I made a good video though. Scary to watch.
How’s 10:00am sound for the sake of a lazy, wintery, sleep-in?

P.S. I was trying to get Supa4 to come along as well seeing as he’s also got a newie that needs a run in but I haven’t heard back from him since sending him a PM about it...and isn’t there another new guy with a new 640? I can’t remember his user name. He mite wana come if he knew about it.

Dr. B I didn't get your PM? but thanks for thinking of me!

I don't think I will be able to do this weekend - I may have to work :-(
If by some magical stroke of good fortune I can make it I will be at the allotted meeting point at the allotted time - which is where and when exactly?

*edit* I just re-read the earlier posts and found the meeting time and place cunningly hidden in plain sight! Who'd of thunk it!

I am most likely going to 'woos it' as Ash would say and give it a miss you blokes,
Too much juice from the sky up here to even consider getting the mootard out...
Some cows can swim, but not for long...

As for the lengthy delays between social rides,
We endevour to do a pizza, (well food anyway) and bullshit night fairly regularly, but lack of turnout saw them dwindle a bit.
Last one had I think 5 bikes.
Anyone up for a rip around town and a feed soon then?
The newer fellas to the forum and KTM riders at that, I believe should be right into this being inner suburbs dwellers... :)

How about we take ownership of a date and that person is responsible for organising the ride.

Eg. I get nominated 9th of July 06. I post up that the ride will start at Stevos in Ringwood @ 10am and go via Black spur to Marysville for lunch and then home either by Black or reefton.

There is only one obligation and that is from the ride organiser, he (she) must be at the ride destination. If other members want to go, they simply rock up.

This way people will know that the ride is talking place, as at least one other will be at the destination.

If people are willing to nominate themselfs to be a ride organiser (and the associated responibility of not being able to back out of a ride), we might be able to become more orgnised.

What are your opions of this? Will it work, or fail miserably when no one rocks up? Its your choice.

Very good idea indeed. But there’s no need to set dates to far into the future.
I’d say: When ever someone feels like going for a ride he should just let everyone else know where he’s going and where we can meat up and what time. We can post confirmations to get an idea of how many people are interested but the organizer has to turn up unless there’s a very good explanation like: ‘DRZ goes bang’.

How bout some food and a beer on a Monday or Tuesday Night????

That sounds like a good time to plan our next ride, discuses route-code procedures and the like.
How about Tuesday night in the city? I know a very good Indian restaurant at the north end of King St (on the west side 2 shops up from La Trobe St). I finish work at 6PM but I can get there at 5:30. How’s that for rest of you?

You’re obviously not much of a Simpsons freak.
It’s something Homer sings in the episode when he becomes a food critic for the news paper to declare his love for anything digestible.
I, likewise would eat anything that won’t kill me (as long as it’s got nothing to do with genitals).

Seems to be pissing down with rain too.
I think I'll be here for a few weeks as there is nothing booked for work, but I'll be trying hard to get back north where it's warm. France would be nice this time of year, must be time for a trip to the factory (it's near Lyon).

Half a litter of vodka to kill the deadly bacteria and viruses, then a days ride on the pushy to work up the appetite and finally a spare thought to my fellow bicycle bums in the city that eat strait out of rubbish bins. Then I’d be like: Hhmm…pig’s bum :lick:

As far as the dinner and bit of a blast goes yep anytime so long as its a Friday/Saturday night as I have to travel..
Doesnt help Jake out then though cause so does he, and only Tuesdays.
Gets hard to get the regulars riders together because of these things..

I still think we should be looking for a weekend date so all have an opportunity to make arrangements and make a definite plan, like up here in Spring and use Bright as the base...
