Folks,
I just got my first motard and im absolutely loving it. It’s a 2005 husky 450 smr, can’t believe how torquey it is!
Hoping theres other motard riders out there I can learn from, im still getting used to the bike and cornering is the big thing for me right now. Knee or foot!?
If anybody is ever around kings cross or there are any noob friendly local rides please let me know..

Knee on road and sweepers on track. Foot on tight corners and dirt.

gday
im in the same boat. just purchased a 2006 smr 450 (hasn't arrived yet) super pumped about it but the only SM I have previously ridden was my boss' 05 xr650r, and that was only a couple blasts around the block. Straight away I was hooked and started prowling the classifieds for a bike.
Basically Im a novice, having only ridden a couple dirt bikes, 250cc road bikes and a bmw gs650 for about a week. I would love any advice at all, from riding tips to supermoto events and even the rules on this site. sorry to hijack your thread but we seem to be on the same page (although i dont even know how to start a thread yet!) Would be cool to go for a ride with ya, im at narrabeen
Cheers

Hey brother Im up for a ride round this area. im in Drummoyne. I can show you some stuff - How to stack the bike by being too short for the tard and placing your foot in a pot hole at the lights just enough to off balance you, How to miss a gear -when It counts, Take off in neutral and starting the bike in gear for it to lurch forward - Free of charge.

I'm sure a few people can share their favorite roads. If everyone comes to the NSW group ride, we'll figure it out there.
Or if you're itching for a blat real soon, just post here.

Mate, Eastern Creek kart track day/night 12th of Oct. Doesn't have dirt, but an awesome track none the less. Come and catch-up with the NSW guys and get a few tips. Best and safest way to learn your bike is on a track.
You wont find any SM tracks with dirt anywhere that are available to ride.

Yeh it is short but still fun with no-one there.
Got the bike at the shop getting checked over and the previous owner stripped the bloody sump thread so couldn't fill her back up with oil.
APW is putting a heli coil in it tomorrow and checking right through it.
Hopefully they don't find anything too strenuous as I would like to ride it on the weekend.
Hope to see some people around
