View Full Version : Associations Incorporation Act 1981 and VSMR

I am giving consideration to incorporating the VSMR club base in the Associations Act to let us become a club base recognised by our esteemed governing bodies, being the Goverment in general and of course M.A. and the Karting Association.
I am considering this move to offer us a more professional approach in all we do as well as a forums based web presence.
We need to be Associated/Incorporated under the terms of the Act to allow us access to Government grants, ability to associate with other clubs on a financial basis, and to afford compliance with M.A. guidelines to enable track/practice/race days in our own right.
Anyone with comment is asked to compete the poll concerned and save any detail for the forum if you think it is important to the infrastructure of the club base, and urged to attend any public meeting held in the near future regarding the Incorporation of the club.
This will be done if need be through the forums to give at least the 21 days required for the notice of the holding of the meeting.

Ok, Fuck the polls I hate politicians.
Now look, This is the fucking shit going on.
We have a chance to now, not next fucking year, NOW, to stand up and be counted for real!

We are on the verge of a new beginning for Supermotard/Supermoto in Victoria and we are the forefront of that.
I shit you not.
I was told 3 years ago I didnt know what I was talking about and I should socially ride with my mates so to speak.
So I did and the result is you are reading this...
So it paid off didn't it?

Next lesson is also for you.
We are possibly about to be offered an affiliation with another registered MA affiliated club and be able to access the same tracks they are.
So listen well.
We need to be as active as possible now! The tracks have never ever even been open to negotiations regarding bikes and we are possibly going in with someone else.
So if you are at all serious about the toy as I put it.
Get the thing to GPTC and yourself the meetings that are about to be held in Melbourne to go through the motions of full accreditation/affiliation.
If you are not a member of the new VSMR you will not be getting access to the track under any circumstances for practice.
You may come and race with us on an Open Competition Licence though of course, but practice no VSMR membership, no ride.
Racing is on the agenda now straight away to mimmick the series we will be piggybacking, and offer a fuller card of racing to go into the evenings is envisaged.
So who's up for it now then, a few different tracks to run a series on is better than none I reckon.
If this collapses now be wary of anyone riding anything that resembles any farmyard animal is good advice too.
Come on, I know if Shane was here, he'd have you all in headlocks and signing your life away.

you got that right muzz , if its got wheels you race it plain and simple . supermoto is growing all the time , if you guys commit to getting started now in a year or 2 you could have a great little vic series up and running . once you have the racing set out you will get the interstate guys and race teams turning up . it much easier to get a factory like KTM to turn up with the new bikes for test rides or even aprilia and husky if you have race days on .
so come on guys get behind it . that way i can make excuses that i have to fly over to be at our farm down south, race weekends

Depending on how negotiations go and interset that gets shown by way of numbers, there is a chance to maybe piggyback a couple of events to test interest over the Summer as support races and boost profile to other disciplines..
If that comes to be, then by the end of the summer we will have a firm fixture of events for Victorians the following season at least the State level.

Tom you got it all happening there now mate, Mark Avards promotions company I believe is running regular track practice for motards and some with dirt under lights if numbers are there.
try this link,
http://www.supermotonsw.com ;)
If each group in each state does as the W.A. example, and that of Marks, motard will begin to get recognition and then access to areas to ride too.

We are in a very fortunate position that one of our newest members also shares passion for the sport along with the ideal of mentoring the young ones coming through pocket bikes and the likes.
Without his input (and it has been so far, pretty well all his doing by negotiation) we would not be in this position to advance now.
He sees the vision I think that I do, understands my frustration, and also the dedication, time and expense it takes to get it to this stage with regular track access available and hardly anyone fronting.
By piggybacking and supporting the other discipline at events, and assisting them with whatever resources we can muster from within, we have an excellent chance of longevity with them and also MA affiliation with some parity to draw on...
There are some of you already involved in the other discilpine and as more is finalised towards the Inaugural Meeting to be held soon (TBA) I will keep you posted.

Footnote to those who usually cant be bothered but do own bikes.
The member mentioned and thanked again for his support does not currently own a motard...

I'm trying for 6ft flames that melt the visor of the guy contemplating a passing maneouvre. :)
I'm pissed now. I just found out a mate of 10 years didn't make it home tonight on his 999. :(
May this weekend's MotoGP be a tribute to Merinos, Brocky & Irwin.

Thanks. ;)
We dont need a few doing a lot, just many doing little things and appreciate the offer of services.
You dont need to be serious about your racing to enjoy the experience of going. Many get satisfaction from being in the infrastructure or even being given the opportunity to spectate.

No Sibbo, Now is not the time to ask about being 'Sweep Rider'

Well I want to hold a meeting now!
Get the Club base sorted out under the Act and get in for the affiliation.
If we dont do something real soon then you know who will and thats the end of Supermoto in Victoria if that happens.
Date for general meeting is first, elect some officials.
This will be held at the GPTC and hopefully all our meetings will be there too.
Proposed date, 20 Jan 07.
This should give enough time for the masses to be informed.

You blokes wont be forgotten there Daniel.
You could easily affiliate as a S.A. group with a similiar name.
We dont have to be the VSMR Inc.
It could be Australian Motard Racers Register, and have S.A. Branch etc...

Sounds good. Seems like there's a pretty dedicated group of people at VSMR now to compliment the original mob, so it would be great to see what you're proposing take shape and go from strength to strength. Hope everybody gets on board :)

Just to let you all know this has not been forgotten,
A new member stepped up recently and offered to look into the Associations Act and see if it were feasible now to register the Club base and move forward from there.
Once registered we get the choice of where we align ourselves for racing purposes.

Would be nice to run a series of different events within the region (Victoria /South Australia) such as the
Motard Sprint,
A long track meeting like Broadford,
A Meeting at a larger circuit like Mac Park with dirt thrown in,
A short track at TT or another karting venue (Portland/Warnambool so the SA boys are closer)
And throw in a hillclimb as well ;)

I hope to have some idea of the progress shortly.

Hey Muzz have you thought about/heard of Morwell hill climb?
I've read they have had pocket bike there before, why not us?
I think its run by the Gippsland car club.
The only problem I could see is there's hardly any run off and its into mostly old tractor tyres.
I have raced there in my Sube and it was freakin sweet!

Morwell was resurfaced about 3 years ago now Mark and yes that was the intended venue for the Hillclimb Event drawing on 'other' 2 wheeled sport for parity.

Got rello's up there and a block of land to camp at. :)

Are there any speedhumps there by any chance? Cringe.

I heard it was closed and the hill climb earlier this year or the end of last year was the last one to be run.

It was a tar hill climb in Gippy, how many can there be?
