I will be getting another set of Continental TKC 80 knobbies for the mootard soon. You fit those suckers on your Husky Ash, and the old YZ would be looking for another home! :D

Sure Neil we can do an easy one.

Muzz I love the light weight the light switch power and most importantly the smell. I hope I can always own a 2 stroke!!

:finga: :chainsaw: LONG LIVE THE OIL BURNERS :shoot: :finga:

You and my big fella Matt (Datto-Master) would be a good pair, he thinks CR 125's should be given to all! :?

I'll most graciously put my hand up to be given one :D :D :D

Actually, I guess I'd better buy myself some upper body padding type stuff then, given my riding ineptitude!

The goathearder stuff looks allright, and its reasonably priced ... anyone got any comments on them? The other one I was looking at was the 661 pressure suit, not too bad at $250...

i didn't look around much when i shopped for armour, but the dainese that i wear is great.
beats the hell out of wearing a leather jacket in hot weather too.

How much $$$? I've heard of the GH as being a dainese saftey jacket copy...

Neil I use dainese down hill body armour and I can't recomend it high enough. I have had some massive impacts and got up OKish I've also had some real high speed offs (I know you wont believe this!!) and got up good as well. It aint cheap but it's worth every cent!!
I have some more traditional amour you can borrow, and also some knee shin gaurds, elbow pads etc.

Wobbly

Cool ... I hope they're in Fat Bastard size or that they, errr, stretch

I'm slowly accumulating the dirt gear, got the knee guards, nylons, boots and helmet now ... just missing the upper armour/elbow guards ... now all I've got to do is work out how to make my feet work in the dirt boots! :P

Neil all you got to do is wear them every ride this week and by the end of the week you be fine. It will be more forgiving to do it on the road at first rather than dirt. As you know I wear my tech 8's every where dirt or road.
I can't ride in soft boots now, I don't feel like I have the same control.
It's all what you get used to. I have to say I'm happy to be used to using boots that will protect me better!!

Like Ash says, you'll get used to it pretty quick.
As for how much the armour costs, is safety something to be done on a budget?
I use my Dainese armour constantly, partly due to the fact that I still haven't got my jacket fixed, but also because I feel that the armour is better than any jacket ever could be.
Some of my mates have bought armour also, and they only ride on the road.
My brother has the MTB armour for riding his pushy and I've seen it in action.
Scary stuff, but he's able to dust himself off and try again each time he stacks.

I won't be joining you in the dirt until I get something a bit smaller to ride.
Thinking about getting a 250 just for dirt/bush/desert stuff.

Can do, just need to swap over the wheels on friday night

Hmm, got any tyre changing gear? I've only got tyre irons for a car that are about 100 sizes too big. The dirt rims have the road legal nobbies on them which apparently aren't all that great and I've got a pair of bridgestone mx tyres sitting in the garage so thought swapping them over would be a good idea...

Not to worry, can just use the gritties i suppose. Mainly want to keep them in reasonably good nick for roadworthy compliance is all.

Hey Neil, did you get the chain sorted??
If your free and I don't have to work do you want to try again this Sunday??
I'm keen as to get out and give the YZ a caining!

Couldn't find a spare clip so ended up pinching the one from one of my other bikes ... 8-[ ... ended up finding the reason for the difficulty installing the link - one of the end links in the chain had pushed its backing plate out and bent it out of alignment slightly, which stopped the joining link from compressing properly #-o

Not sure about this weekend ... I'm going to head down to phillip island as I've got a couple of mates racing in the hartwell meeting that weekend ... could be up for the weekend after though

Face it Ash, Dirt is for gardens and two strokes are for whipper snippers! :chainsaw: Or are you a sucker for some DRZ roost! :butthead:

Flash
01-02-2005, 07:58 PM
All those who come can enjoy the roost and smell of the almighty 2 banger. :finga: :fart:

Didn't you realise that to get a four stroke to go like a 2 stroke they need to cheat and double the capacity :supz: :D

If the weather here in Vic ever dries up who would be interested in an easy real Motard ride? (dirt/road) Thought it would be good to have a full day of riding not on 1 surface.
Dirt is good for practicing backing it in, so if you need practice that's where to go! :D

Wobbly

Dude - you get up too early! :P

Orrite, but when it dries up is likely to be any time from now until next January ;)

As far as I know Jason (Poz) and some of his mates were coming up here in early March for some serious offroad motarding. I think he said they would be staying in Bright. That would make the trip for you guys more worthwhile to do the Apline approaches and hunt some enduro boys around Myrtleford.
The last time I went into the bush at Myrtleford, I went past a heap of blokes on DRZ/WRF/CRF going the other way and they near piled up trying to see if their eyes weren't playing tricks on them, imagine if there was 6-10 of us!

I'm stuck working every weekend in early March (can't complain to much I'm doing it to try and pay for wheels, licence, etc) but late March is fine. How about that? I might need some avons for that trip then!

i know it is past any ride now, but Ash does the yz125 have rec reg or anything resembling legality?

If no, I would be happy to come with you next time, what sort of area would you be going to?

Sibbo
09-02-2005, 11:42 AM
while im here, Muz if any of your four bangers can drag my ZY250 off in the dirt, i will do something inaproprate!

cos i finally got to ride a modern 4 stroke, a wr426.....and......it was NOT imprissive at all. It felt like it had nothing, no uncontrolable wheelies. It had a similar bottom end, with a nothing top end and too much engine braking!!

Long live the two strokes!!

Flash

I'm with you Brett
LONG LIVE THE 2 STROKE!!! :prayer:

I do have rec reg but I don't have any lights etc.
I got chased a couple years ago in my peak Motocross form buy 2 plod on XRs, I either wipped them or they thought this guy is going to kill himslef trying to get away!
But this is the only time I have seen them. they don't go where I go very often if at all. I think we're going this Saturday if you up for it.

But PM me when you are going next and i will try and sort out a head light (muzz i might need that headlight now) and have fun falling off in a new place!
