View Full Version : aggressive gearing
Hey guys I've got an 06 sm610 Husky and would like the bike to float the wheel when changing gear-bike could do it but I'm new to this and would like to concentrate on technique rather than trying to float it.It currently runs 15 f and 45 r I also don't want to make it work to hard at reasonable cruise speeds.

Download this spreadsheet and run it in excel:

This gives you the gearing for the sm610 - bottom line, dropping it 2 teeth on the front sprocket to 14 should give you a good cruise speed as well as snappier performance. I just took a bit of a guess on the RPM ranges based on what i've got for the ktm 640, but hopefully they're close (actually, let me know what the min usable, maximum and best cruise rpms are and i'll update it).

I'd go with what Neil said, I believe they're meant to do over 200 standard  so a couple of teeth should be good
Thanks nmilne please dont think of me as ignorant in regards to your follow up s'sheet but along with not being able to wheelie i'm not very computer literate and havent been able to open it.

You need a program like microsoft excel or open office ... I've posted up a couple of screen captures of it though in the misc gallery and attached them below. Ignore the stuff on the recalc gearing, just look at the top parts of each.
Standard gearing - assumptions made around RPM range -

Drop 2 teeth on the front -

Thanks for that capture nmilne i appreciate it and will look further into it but i might try to get that prim nut checked tomorrow if the dealer can fit it in otherwise i might try getting a local shop to look at it and then go from there :?
