Ok guy's this is off my own back and nothing is set I am fishing for Ideas and responses to some random ideas I got floating around in my head for the upcoming 2010 season. Would you come and race in NQ for?

1. Qld road racing champs. In cluding 2 motard catagorys, 2days of events on a long weekend in june, racing under lights and a mystery speical event after saturdays races? (eg, lemans start , reveres grid, 1hour. that sort of thing)
Racing would be shared with other motorcycle catagorys

2. An Austrailian titel round for just motards, super moto's, Including all clases and capacitys. with rounds of bitchumen/dirt and just bitchumen held on a singel day late in the year at an undetermined venue but in NQ. (including dirt jumps the lot)

Ok remember these are just ideas so if you got any good ones that you would travel to NQ for put em up here lets bring some life back to motorcycle racing:up:

If I didn't already have travel plans for next year i would travel up for both.

Would the QLD RRC include a lites class??

More then likley depending on numbers running with the bigger bikes but scored seperat. If over ten lights then they would get therir own race

I'm planning on racing the King of Cane event too. More than one trip up there might be a stretch, depends on how much racing we get down here.

well if you's all just move up here it will save travelling to the good rounds. and we could plane a heap more events

I am also planning on doing the King of the Cane event. Not sure how keen I'd be to come up for a one day meeting. As Paul said it may be a bit of a stretch to do more than one trip depending on how much racing we have down here.

More racing is good ! As the others said it depends on what is down here, but who knows when we will find out....

King of Cane will be booked in though.

If there was an Aussie round I am sure everyone would get organised to do that as well.

Hey Daryn, we've been trying to give the King of the Cane event to the TMCC to run in the sense of all you have to do is turn up and take the nomination fee's as the TMCC. I've spoken to you heaps of times about arranging a meeting with your management committee, and you've fobbed me off.

The whole event is wrapped in plastic, handed to the race club who wants to take ownership. All that we will take from the event is the sponsorship money for signage, which will be donated back to charity (at the moment, rural fireies, and the disaster management helicopter service are the two primary candidates).

I've been trying for close to 3 months now to meet with you guys, and asked you personally a number of times for you to tell me when "the next meeting is on" so I can do a presentation for the club, and once again explain that there are no strings attached.

We are close to making the offer to the FNQRRC and the Sporties, due to the apparent lack of interest by the TMCC to take the nomination fee's for little expended effort. We will gift you the timetable, so it doesn't clash with the other events going on over the weekend, allowing other competitors a chance to watch the race, or the racers to watch the stunters and dyno shootout. We will endeavor to supply flaggies, and any other person power needed.

Why suggest timing that makes it difficult to attend both? Smart timing would be the same timing as this year, allowing competitors to recover from the travelling expenses.

Do you want to compete with potentially the largest combined motorcycle show in the country? One that will be a prize money race? Attracting some awfully big names, because it IS a stand alone event and doesn't interfere with any other championship?

The event will grow in 2011 as well, and who knows how big it will become after 3 years.

Come January 2010, the marketing will start, and by April, national media marketing will be employed (we have already brokered a deal with one of the TV stations).

Hey Bruce as it says I am just fishing for Ideas for the club for the future if not 2010 then maybe 2011. I am also trying very hard to get all commity members together in one place to give you a decent hearing just for you with no other bussnes involved. We are also putting togther a bit of a run down of cost and paper work involved in this style of event to give you an idea of just how much is realy involved .

gytr R1 it's hard to commit to anything with everyone trying to secure MQ calander dates next year like yourself (we're hoping not to clash with another big event this year), I'm sure you will find that the FNQRRC & Sporties are in the middle of doing the same thing. I'm sure daryn explained how hard it has been to get the committee together with the racing that has been on & most being on holidays. (yes volunteers need holidays too)

We are not trying to compete with you.
Our efforts have been to secure rounds of Championship in NQ for all racers, to stop the southern clubs from hosting all rounds of championships, thus giving the NQ racers just as much a chance at the Championships as the southern racers.
By hosting Championship rounds we get to promote all forms of racing in NQ. With more promotion in the North the better chance of getting our local track improved for all forms of racing for all local racers.

Which means we also need to put on a good show, so it helps to know what rounds riders are willing to go to so we know what to apply for, what extra events to include at those rounds what extra events you would be interested in doing, like an endurance race for Motards.

Guys, we have already secured the dates with MQ, with Lindsay assuring us there will be a blanket for any other motorcycle events in North Queensland.

I do realise what is involved in running an event of this magnitude, and funnily enough, are doing our best to minimise the input required by the club willing to take the race on as the official competitive club. We are seriously gift wrapping it for the club. All that is required from said club is:

1. Clerk of the Course
2. Timing Officials
3. Scrutineers (Bearing in mind this is a PURE motard/Quad event, so no requirement for engine case protection)
4. Supplimentary Regulations
5. Payment to MQ of the event sanction fee's ($1500.00, to be taken from nomination fee's)
6. A bank account to deposit nomination fee's

We (NQ Riders Inc.) are arranging on the clubs behalf:

1. Public Liability Insurance via MQ
2. Track design
3. Earth works and contractors
4. Compliance with MA (as MQ default to MA's safety / design requirements) design rules
5. Council requirements for the rehabilitation of the site
6. Aero-club requirements for the care and maintenance of the runway itself
7. Any low level officials as required (basically flaggies is all we can offer)
8. Format and timing of the individual races and qualifying/practice (in compliance with MQ's requirements)
9. Promotion of the event with the club in question to be mentioned

That's just off the top of my head... We have a legal firm as a sponsor, so any legals will also be covered, and a contract will most likely be drawn up.

As I said, and have tried to say many times, it's gift wrapped.

Vin, we have had no problems securing calendar dates, because it is a stand alone, single event. This makes it easy. The location we have been given by the Burdekin Shire Council is conducive only to Motards, unless you wanted to run drags. We have chosen to go with Motards because they are the ultimate bridge sport, allowing interest from tarmac and dirt riders alike, also the most spectacular of all of the racing classes we can run in the North. And distance requirements for the crowds distance from the track are less than other road race formats, due to the style of the tracks, meaning more of a personal interaction between the racers and crowds.

Buckets don't excite, sorry to be blunt, neither do 250 proddies. Before you get offended, look at the crowds next time, and look at the races that show most interest for the crowds in attendance. And the Motard guys tell us that they're nothing compared to when full blown Quads hit the track...

We've chosen a number of things for the Expo in order to maximise entertainment for the general public, gain maximum media exposure and the best "bang for buck" for all involved, from competitors and sponsors through to Mums, Dads and kids.

We're needing to make a decision on who is running the race very soon, as I have a development meeting with the Mayor and Economic Development Officer at the end of this month to bring them up to speed with where things are at. I'll have an answer from Yamaha regarding the Rockstar Yamaha FMX teams attendance for the night time entertainment component by then as well, and invitations will be sent to a number of companies (some of which will surprise) with a unique angle for those niche companies to entice them to attend, as well as announcements of major sponsors for various components by then, and the full blown media plan.

As I say, time is short, which is why I have pushed you guys to get the information to you. With no feedback from anyone, except right here in this thread, I'm fairly disheartened.

I now have Rex's mobile number, as last time we spoke he was keen as mustard to be involved.

UPDATE!
Well its looks like we may have the QLD's round 1 but still waiting for the paper work to go through. It will be held at Suncity racway Townsville over the 11th 12th and 13th of june. Practice friday ( under lights) ,sat 2 round of 10 laps and a top ten shoot out with a 1hr race to boot(1hr 2riders with comolsory pit and rider change) with a short day sunday with practice in the morning followed by another 2 ten lap round and presentations. With the following monday a public holiday we do hope to get some good numbers involved as well. There will be free camping at the grounds for racers and the teams as well. Sporties are looking at bringing up a truck (i think) so they would be the people to contact about transporting bikes up for a good price. If they decide not to we will try to get transport at a good price. Some things may be subject to change but i am pretty sure the dates are set in stone this is going to be a great weekend for all involved cool weather great racing I for one am realy looking forward to this event!

Is that the meeting sheduled for the weekend after QLD champs at Morgan Park?

Do you guys run a dirt section up there or is it all road?

Matt I am pretty sure the morgan park round is a non points round for the moto's 400,250 and 125's.
Yes this is the road racing round for 125, 250, 400 and moto's so sorry no dirt on the track. But with a 100m straight and a very tight technical secton around the back it is a seriously fun track to ride! Not to mention have you ever done a 1hr endurance race on a moto???? under lights??? ever had to pit during the race ???? or done a race you need to tag team with somone else???? mate I think you will find this will be a great weekend and you have a public holiday on the mon to get home:up:

Yeh I would like to make it up too, sounds sounds like there might be a road trip on the cards!

What is a straight drive time Maestro? About 15-16 hrs..........not to hard with a couple of drivers.

maestro
22-03-2010, 08:32 PM
It would be something like that straight up the coast. I normally only go straight south from Charters Towers to Roma (800ish km) hang a lefty and its 500ish kms to Brissy. I think the guys told me its 1400km coast way. Cruisy days drive:up:

Bernadette and I left Stanthorpe at 430pm after the race the other day and got home at 800am ......too easy:oops:

I am pretty sure that Motorcycle sportsman club are bringing up a truck that hauls about 30 bikes and gear so if you contact them you may be able to fly up and share a hire car with a few other guys to cut down travel time and costs. But road trips are bloody fun somtimes too. Dont forgett this is a QLD round and you will need a MA licence to race no day licences will be issued on the day. To give you a rough idea of numbers we have been getting over 50 bikes at normal club rounds so we are hopeing for 70+ bikes at this meeting. Depends on how many southern guys come up. All riders will be issued with transponders to kep track of your lap time too. Dont be affraid to bring up the friends and family and this will be a good family weekend with good racing to watch and hopfully have a trade show the MRA are putting on.I will post up the supregs as soon as possible:up:
