Hey Jovian.
Do you think we should book one of the stands out in advance so we all get a seat?
See ya there. I'll be doing some dirt up at Woodenbong on the Saterday so mine will be the extremely dirty WR in the car park. :D
Seeya.

If you catch one get a donkey feed it viagra then tie the thieves wrists to his ancles and leave them to get along.
we should put a post up on here to get numbers i will have few mates coming.
this could also be a good chance to get qld raceway to host actual track days for motard so the more of us that turn up the better, we need track days. :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
Scozzie how do you find this stuff out? I know that you said you do not know much else, but are there times? Don't want to get there when it is all over? When you say motard on do you mean races? Sorry to be a pain. :?

To be honest 77 I really don't know much more.
I was given the heads up by someone in MQ who knows about these things.
I'm hoping to get there 10ish and if it's a practice then I'll feckin' well jump on there knobbies an all if they'll let me.
I won't get there at 3pm 'cos it might well all be over.
However I'm hoping for races.
I'll be the muddy Scottish barsteward, oh and Muzz I won't actually get off the bike - wot are you mad!!
See y'all there.
Cheers,

is it on the kart track or that heap of shit paper clip 'circuit'?

Dunno.
Hope it's on the cart track. But I heard a rumour it is in the pit area?
Yep it was in the pit area. The racing itself was pretty good in my humble opinion, there were some really talented people out there. The actual setup was pretty crappy though, you had to actually walk all the way around the track to get to and from your motard of transport, unless you were allowed in the pits, and you could not see the entire track from any vantage point because there was a building in the middle. I was happy to hear at about midday that we could all go into the pits and speak with riders and such. Overall though i really liked the racing, but i love motard. The sad thing is that if someone does not love motard i do not think they would go to these events to see a spectacle, so if today was a sign of the motard championships to come I cannot see great things in the future. It is a great pity because a lot of the riders are really talented and deserve to be seen and paid.

Glad you got there 77,
I myself was 1.5 hrs late. But that's another story.
I too was surprised at the set up. For those who were not there imagine a rectangle within a rectangle, the inner rectangle being pit garages. The outer rectangle being the track, sort of.
There was no signage of ANY kind to indicate 1) there was this weird thing called Motard happening. 2) If you went to see it - how the fuck do you get in / what is the layout of the track / were can you view from etc etc. ....and shade - what shade. The sun was a killer.
It was hard to get a decent vantage point. Impossible to get a complete vantage point, that didn't bother me 'cos I like flitting around. It bothered the 65 kids I had in tow. They like the Start/Finish when the freight train rolls past.
All in all I think from a spectators point of view this was a bit lacking. I don't know what it waqs like from a racers point of view, maybe someone will come on here and tell us! For a 1st meet at a new place it was pretty good.
The quality of the racing started out a bit average but there some gems in amongst it all. There was this one dude on a Husky who was just balls out all the way. He would need a shopping trolley to carry his gonads home, they were that big. There were obviously others too who shone, but this guy was on fire. I wish I could tell you who he was but I never saw a program.
Good news is that I took my camera and will post the pics. Some are shit and some are shit hot.
Bottom line is that I'm stoked that they had a try at a different location that may work, and that so many riders of all disciplines turn up and try. Hopefully one day I can include myself. I've got the bike, I've got the racing leathers, all I have to do is crap in them (get it over and done with) and get into it.
Look out for piccies folks.
Scozzie.
I am glad that I was not the only one who thought it was a little poorly organized and set out. It only bugs me because there is a lot of potential for spectators. I ended up hating those damn signs that read "not for the public", I ended up jumping the fences here and there to get around. As for the shade..... i forgot to take my hat and I have a shaven head so today I am in a great deal of pain. I nearly put my helmut on to watch the races, but did not want to look like a special person. Do you remember the number of the guy on the Husky (with the big balls), I have the program at home and can look it up to see who he is, he was by far the best rider there i thought (on the day anyway). I could not believe the drive he got on the straight after the dirt section.
The race at Stanthorpe.... is that better set up? Is there shade or covered areas? Can you see the whole track? Are there bigger jumps or more of them? I ask because i want to camp there with my wife and two kids and am not sure about how they will like it. They would not have liked yesterdays races for more than 10 minutes. Any input would be great. Do you know if you camp there whether or not you can leave the camp grounds and come back as you like? Sorry for all the questions. If the family don't like it then they will make my day miserable?
Cheers

77 did you stand, for a while, 1/2 way down the straight and see a doofy looking guy, blonde chick, 2 teenage kids locked in a lip lock most of the time and 2 male rug rats glued to the fence. You have a leather jkt? You buy something at the food stand with a doofy looking dude behind you?
If you did then I was that doofy SOB. I knew I should have said 'Hey, are you 77' but in my experience I end up getting hit. But I'll bet that was you man.
What a bummer.
Husky Man was 69.
Stanthorpe. Here's what I know.
The race at Stanthorpe.... is that better set up?
Yes it is in many ways. It's not a big set up but if you can imagine the viewing area as an L shape with the straight being the long leg then you can see the whole of the rest of the track from the L.
From what I remember there are more trees, more shade, areas to sit and watch, better food, freindly people.
That sound better?
Are there bigger jumps or more of them?
Just one table top. But big. They get big enough air to do tricks if they feel cocky - have a look at some of my pics in the gallery. Just remembered I have some of the last time I was there.
I ask because i want to camp there with my wife and two kids and am not sure about how they will like it. They would not have liked yesterdays races for more than 10 minutes.
Mine would have spat the dummy too. Good job I was with someone elses wife and kids. Na not like that, he chose to go on the dirt ride that turned out to be only on Sunday, I opted for Motard, his wife and kids said Let's Motard and watched 1/2 drifting 1/2 Motard. My wife drives to the shops. His wife breathes Motorsport.
Do you know if you camp there whether or not you can leave the camp grounds and come back as you like?
I think you can. Most of the racers do. I think they stamp you're hand when you come in. It's altogether a more family feel.
Sorry for all the questions. If the family don't like it then they will make my day miserable?
Been there done that. No worries.
Maybe see you there. Should I wear a conspicuous piece of clothing next time I wonder.
Cheers.
Scozzie.

I'd be asking muzz for another run of VSMR caps and polo shirts :D
Sorry that we could not have met. I stood mostly down the end of the start/finish straight, am completely bald, wear glasses, and my jacket is one of the motodry synthetic deals. Had a silver helmut. I did see a couple of kids trying to sit on the fence along the straight.... were they your rug rats. And I did buy some food, a burger that I mostly ate sitting on the ground under the shade of a tree.
I think I may just drag the family to Stanthorpe, what the hell I'll buy some camping stuff and make a weekend of it. if they do not like it I will move to a noisier area  You know I am even excited now that the family can come and may even enjoy, if they hate it then my lovely wife can drive into Stanthorpe and do something or got to a Vineyard???.
Thanks Scozzie for all the info I hope that one day I can help.
There is no number 69 at all in the race listing the only guys on Huskys were: (they must have missed his name or he was a late entrant)
:
#11 Col Davis Husky 570 (veteran + S1)
#41 Mick Hams 570 (Veteran)
#72 Ian McHugh husky SM 450 (veteran)
#98 Joel archard Husky 250
#116 Matt Lofts husky 450 (clubman)
Did you notice how he was bobbing his head as he headed around the building up towards the straight. You think that was him in the groove or some kind of speed wobble/noddle.

I though you just had to have 2 digits in your race number!
Call me stupid but what pattern?

Ash is talking about 4 of the 5 riders riding Huskies, I am talking about 4 of the 5 riders having 2 digits in their race number.
You have misinterpreted the data, these are all the Husky's on the day, they were by no means the predominant bike. Probably more Yammys and KTM's. All 5 of those bikes are Husky's! Sorry to burst your bubble.

I though they were the winners
I will now add some salt to the wound.... there were a few races where a DRZ400 beat some Husky's to the finish line :!:

Now I know your full of shit
No really I am being honest, and to rub the salt little deeper, it was bone stock except for Roosta exhaust and wheel set!
Let us know when it starts to hurt

It must be all the rider then ;)
I was under the impression that all motard races were all rider?? I mean the only place where a more potent bike has an advantage is on the straight?? Am I right or full of shit? So if the straights are not that long there would be no advantage to a bigger more potent bike?? Please correct me if I am wrong
 PS. Drzz rule!!

I think motard racing is all down to how badly plugged together the rider's brain is. The worse the plugging, the better the riding  :D
(I'm just jealous ;) )
I am a little jealous too, after watching the racing this weekend there is no way I would ever be able to ride like that guy on the Husky, I just do not have the cojones (but I resign my self to being a dad that has to be a little responsible).
I like your new Avtar, that is the DRZ by Yoshi is it not? I also read a while ago that the DRZ was designed by Yoshimura..... is this true or was my brain incorrectly plugged that day?

My excuse is simply that I'm incompetent!
Yep, that's the yoshi DRZ ... basically a stroker DRZ with lots of nice stuff like ohlins suspension and so on :) Dunno about the yoshi designing the DRZ thing, but anything is possible I spose. If it was them I dunno why they didn't just make it a 450 with hot cams in the first place :lol2:
I was reading my free copy of Cycle Torque (April 06) today, when I saw Number 69 wearing the same helmet and sporting the same bike. His name is Adam Cini (at least I am pretty sure it is). (page 46 in the edition)
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
