Ballarat area

I'm going up to Mt Egerton with the family this weekend and am taking the dr. Not sure what the riding is like around this area but might do some exploring.

Anyone got any tips for this area?

mate I know there is a MX meet at Monza Park (5 mins from Ballarat), near Bunninyong.

There was supposed to be a state meeting but the track wasn't ready in time so now it's just a local one.

Plenty of bush bashing to be had around ballarat - Canadian Forest is pretty good.

Had a ball on Saturday. I will have to go to the Canadian forest next time. Thanks for the tips. This is a pic of the top of the hill behind the old cemetery. Footings in the foreground are of an old fire watching tower.

The avons do provide quite a bit of grip in the dry but there were some slimey sections which had me fishtailing without any control at all. There are some single track sections through the bush near Egerton and some farily hairy jumps (for me that is :D).

Rode the back way to Ballarat from Melbourne to avoid the freeways and ended up going through the Brisbane ranges at about dusk. Had to stop on the road near Bungal to let some Kangaroos cross (also on dusk).

Google maps would have had me travelling through someones private property at one stage near Quandong. Just goes to show you can't trust it for directions.

Trip home today was very wet. Took the freeway all the way. Two teeth less on the front sprocket made it interesting at freeway speeds.
