Been spending a fair bit of time exploring in and around Sydney and always looking for something new. Anyone got any other suggestions?
Up the old Pacific Hwy etc to Wollombi, Wollombi Rd to Cessnock (obvious)
Lane Cove National Park (relatively short and you gotta watch out for rangers though)
Royal National Park through to Bundeena/Maianbar (right through to Woollongong and Kangaroo Valley if you've got the time)
Wakehurst Pkwy from Frenchs Forest, Pittwater Rd and along the coast up to Avalon (found some awesome roads splitting off from the roundabout up the hill from Avalon last weekend)
Anywhere else worth checking out?
aren't the best roads in NSW the ones that lead into QLD ;)

"gonzo" has put up some links to roads just outside sydney that look very twisty :)
not sure if you have mentioned these before but i have stolen this link from one of gonzo's threads
Click here (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Windsor,+nsw&daddr=Sackville,+NSW+to:River+Rd+to:-33.421126,150.956268+to:Wisemans+Ferry+Rd&hl=en&geocode=%3B%3BFUkLAv4dmsL-CA%3B%3BFWXHBv4diCUCCQ&mra=dpe&mrcr=1&mrsp=3&sz=11&via=2,3&rtol=0,1,2,4&sll=-33.517354,150.997467&sspn=0.427635,0.617981&ie=UTF8&ll=-33.372972,151.055145&spn=0.856695,1.235962&z=10)

Mate, i know heaps of good rides in the area ;)
Akuna bay / McCarrs Creek Road.
Bobbin Head National Park.
Berowra Waters Rd.
Galston Gorge.
Mangrove Mountain / Wisemans Ferry road. Actually pretty much all the roads in and out of Wisemans Ferry are good motard roads.

All good options above, as gonzo said there is heaps of good riding around wisemans ferry
Putty Road is also awesome on a motard - you'll annoy the crap out of the sportsbikes there. Down south there's the royal national park, Macquarie pass, kangaroo valley, etc.
Best motard fun around is trailering bikes up to Wauchope and doing the Oxley highway. Also about a billion good roads down in around the snowies, but that option is kind of out at this time of year.

As in not this weekend, but the next one? Are you riding all the way or trailering?

Last time I went up there my SXV dropped it's guts. Hoping to get back up there on the hypermotard. We go up and stay at gingers creek, the cafe has some bunkhouse accomodation out the back. It's also excellent dirt bike riding with heaps of good creek crossings.
You'll have a ball!

No none has mentioned the Putty rd??
usediv - if you are going to Wollombi go the extra to the Putty.

Yeah mate, I recommended it above. Like you say, definately worth the extra miles from Wollombi. The twisty section after Wollombi towards broke is fun, but pretty dangerous. Narrow unmarked road and cars take a fair bit of liberty. I drove up there for work about 3 weeks ago and the car in front of me had a head-on with a hilux. Be careful along that section.

Yeah I heard someone mention Putty Rd but wasn't sure if it was worth the extra ks. We usually stay at a mate's place near Cessnock so don't make it that far.

Putty is good if you are keen for a full day's ride.
If we start talking about roads further afield (which we are), there is this road is called The Nameless.

Looks like a good ride, how long you reckon it'd take all up? Was thinking about tryin to make it up to Putty and back through Wisemans to Berowra in a day.

It's hard to say really. It all depends.
If I was doing it on my own, maybe 2-2.5 hrs
In a group, with fuel and coffee breaks probably half a day easily.
A full Putty loop is normally around 8 hours, give or take.
Last 'quick ride' i did on this forum ended up being a whole Putty loop

IMO, Putty is over-rated and yes I know that will be controversial.
Yes there are two exceptional sections of fun with the sweepers at the southern end a blast or the 10-mile at the northen end. But in between is boredom central as you cop loads and loads of straight bits, high speed corners and the usual array of boys in blue.
Now, if you want to have fun and avoid a lot of the shit sections do the 10-mile and head back via the Yengo Track which is dirt through to Laguna and start again.
Gozo, is that a certain section of road that runs across the border heading south to Victoria?
Asking as have a similar pic from that road and it does have some dirt sections.

Indeed you are correct. Personally, I love the dirt sections. But I understand that it can scare off the sports bikes ;)

IMO, without doubt that is the most technical and hardest riding I have ever done (was on a sports tourer) and man I loved every bloody minute of it. So much so that when I have to drive south, I go that way as it is a pure drivers delight as much as it is a riders dream.
As for teh dirt sections, it is probably best that it scarest he majority of sportsbikes as otherwise it would be a road of carnage.

Oxley hwy is my pick awesome bit of tar,Tamworth to Glouster is pretty good also, plenty of hills up this way never have problems finding good runs.

South around Wollongong you have the roads already mentioned (Macquarie Pass, Kangaroo Valley) but you also have a few others all depending on exactly what it is you are looking for.
Macpass is good, great surface and all but is heavily trafficked so a clean run is difficult, but on a motard would be magic.
Kangaroo Valley has two distinct sections, east and west of the town itself and both are tight, twisty and fun.
But, for alternates you could try the true KV road which runs from Berry to just east of KV township. The surface is a bit dodgy in places but the road is less trafficked and probably as twisty if not moreso as it climbs then drops over the ridge. IMO, a must to look at.
You also have Jamberoo Road from Kiama to Albion Park which does have some small tighter sections but in general is a good series of sweepers with an excellent surface. It is trafficked and policed due to a number of accidents involving sportsbikes of late so ride with due car, but it is a fun section. A little sideline of this road could be a run to Saddleback Mountain lookout (signposted) and back down again, just to enjoy the view mind you.
There is also Jamberoo Mountain Road which is very tight and twisty for a few km's but far more open up top on the ridge. The road surface varies from patchy to dodgy in teh tight sections, but they would be good on a motard as they are genuinely tight, just be very careful of cars as they drive wide if you know what I mean. The road itself leaves from opposite Robertson PieShop and emerges just on the Albion Park side of Jamberoo township.
There is also Mt Keira road which is like a mini Macquarie Pass as it climbs down the mountain and also some sections of Mt Kem,bla Road can be fun but slippery.
Other roads with a bit of fun do exist such as Kangaloon Road that runs from Robertson towards Bowral. It has some faster sweepers but some seriously interesting tighetr turns as well, but again the surface can be bumpy or patch but you would have fun.
Another road to look at is Range Road that runs off Tourist Road (top of Macquarie Pass) into Mittagong. The road is not so twisty but has some sections that are, well, entertaining due to the small undulations that may cause space between tyres and the road surface and I do know many a road bike that enjoys this small section. That said though, the road is narros and does have some fun little stretches for a motard (more at the tourist road end) but does eventually open up somewhat but remains narrow.
Well, that will do for now as I am sure there are more that are yet to be mentioned.

Garry out of curiousity are you on RATs and IR?
+1 for mac pass. I ride it nearly everyday. The best time to go up is mid arvo mid week. Coming down is a bit more of a lottery.
I rode the range road a few weeks back. Very interesting but scary in spots.

Yes in RATS, no longer in IR (was one of the very early members).
Don't ride a motard as the might hugely powered DR650 only has knobbies but they are fun on the pass anyway but do hope to pickup one sometime.
Range Road is fun though but yes, mighty dangerous in a few spots, but heaps of fun around the old farmhouse where air is available. :D
