what are the dates for practice/racing at South Morang???? I'm sick of wondering when the cops are gunna take my licence for doin monos.

One more question.
What makes you shit yourself and stab the rear brake??? the sound of your rego. lable scraping the road (mounted on the number plate) in 4th gear blatting up the freeway........ faaark i like my 525 retard.

Not sure on the motard at GPTC..

Pulling upto hardley/bmw riders at lights fully locked up rear into endo with a few chops of the throttle.

Amusing drunk twats on friday at 4am with wheelies rolling burnouts and shit like that, while turning a tyre with some live left into a slick, 3 small camera video' flloating around

Knowing my L plate means stuff fuck all, "nice 250"..... (Corey knows his berg better be ready 8) ;) )

Being told by the same cop a zillion times to not ride my bike or else  so what its a 450, I had total control :D

I love it all.

Hi Two Dogs,
South Morang is fortnightly Saturdays, the next on the 21st of this month mate,
See ya there! ;)

While we are talking about wheelies.

I have my first gear YZ wheelies nailed!!! And I mean NAILED! I can slow it down, full on pro style. I still need practice, but I am on the right path.

I use a part of the bike as a guide to how high I am. I started with the front guard, then the bar pad on the handlebar and now I look under that pad down the forks! That is some cool shyte.

I dont have footage of the latest efforts, only bar par height. I still have not got any better at standups, I still disslike them (but want to do em so bad) as I am crap!

I have got my gear changes working out OK. I can pick it up in 1st and ride it till 3rd. Then I hit bumps or run out of room and put it down.

BTW, this is all on dirt with knobs as I am not a tard....yet! And nice work 2 dogs, thats the shyte.

Firstly, Muzz....... I cannot stop pissing myself looking at Kermit going for it.... (your avatar) heheheeh

this might sound lame but I havnt been on a retard track yet.... wot sprockets do I wanna run??? I have a 42 rear 14 front or something like that which is good for road speed, but just may be a bit fucked for south morang

will try to make the 21st, return form brisvegas 8:00am, wot time do we start at the track???

Sibbo, I wanna do slow monos too, but aint there yet. i can hold speed by keeping it high, but usually end up picking up several gears.....but it is nice to hear the front squeal like a stuck pig when it goes down in 6th from a mono started in first. (fuck the rubber, its made to burn)

Since my kato chucked me off the back flat knacker in 6th doing a stand up I sorta get shrivelled balls when doing stand ups now.

hope to see you all on 21st.

Sibbo

Yes, standups are EVIL!!! Every time I flip it (backwards that is :D ) it is doing a standup.

Tom
13-01-2006, 04:18 PM
Sounds like i need to practice more! I'm still just doing first and second gear sit downs

I'll book in some serious carpark time in the next few weekends :D

Tom
13-01-2006, 04:39 PM
While we're on the topic, how about some squid questions.

When you change gears during a mono do you use the clutch or just ease off the gas and click up?

And when learning to do stand ups is it better to start standing up, or start sitting down and then stand up when you already have the front wheel up?

Sibbo
13-01-2006, 04:58 PM
For both questions, I do both.

Changing gears: I find it a bit smoother just chutchless snicking gears.
Standups: Dont ask me, you will just crash if you take my advise! Do what feels good. If you are lacking power (you do ride a Honda), you can use your body weight (while standing) to pull the front up (to start the wheelie) in the top gears. But the coolest looking way to do it (its all about the style), is to stand while pulling the front up....then get high and fall off the back and slide. ##%#^&$&#@!!!!

Muzzard
13-01-2006, 05:04 PM
According to the Muzz edition of the Wheelie Book,
Clutch if your quick, like me,
Or just shut off and click the gear.
Not a lot of fun if you get a surge of snot as you open the gas again though!...

Track opens @ 10am Two Dogs...
Gearing wise,
We dont fiddle too much as most of us ride them to work the next day.
If you must though, shoot down the shop and grab yourself a 45/46 tooth rear...

Two_Dogs
01-02-2006, 03:58 PM
thanx muzzard, I gave a 13/49 combination a run at south morang, seemed ok. I'm thinking I need just a tad more time - like every chance i get - to decide.

Tom... chnaging gears on the back wheel, I always use the clutch, standup or sitting down. What i don't have down pat yet is using BOTH the rear brake and clutch........ergo i was chucked off. If you wanna start doing stand up monos, i would suggest you start each mono already standing... make sure you get it nice and high ie. the balance point, that way you can hold speed without accellerating: CAUTION getting chucked off is not as much fun as it looks.

Kimo and I had a bit of run around up there on saturday. The heat was no match for my supreme physical conditioning

Good fun and value place to go for a burn. Hopefully meet up with a few others up there some saturday :)

Wobbler, there is basically no scrutineering of any kind. Just turn up, sign away your safety, hand over 25 smackers, and go and ride in an inapproprite manner wearing whatever the heck you like. I should point out that there wasn't much in the way of marshalling either, and certainly no ambos or anything. Just good old fashioned natural selction at work

Muzzard
07-03-2006, 12:14 PM
As far as the 18th goes Wobb,
I will be there for the practice...

Safety wise....
Common sense rules here,
If you wanna run hard round the track, wear the appropriate leathers.
For those that are still sorting bikes and gear etc,
We cut you the slack to get on a track without the extra expense of leathers to start with.
This is not the norm for most tracks as you are aware...

Understanding that Motorcycling is an inherently dangerous sport,
You use the track at your own risk, And assume full responsibility for your machine and any injuries you may inflict apon yourself.

We have had no issues yet... and expect none in the future,
Or we will be looking for another track...

Understand? ;)

Antti and I got one final session in at the end of the day after a bit of waiting around which was good fun, followed by a good example of front tyre preservation on the way home from antti which is always entertaining :)

Was great to see wobbler out on the big katoom as well, and like us he was having a ball which is the only thing that's important :) Kimo was going well despite a front tyre which looked like it had been attacked by a set of shears

Alright guys, I was talking to Neil the other night about South Morang and we were thinking about altering the dirt section. (Obviously we would have to ask the owner about this for permission.) To make a better use of the facility, now who would ba able to make them selves available to help? Idealy would be a weekday as there will be less people there using the track. I am happy to take some annual leave if I can get some others to come as well, otherwise a weekend. This is the only facility we have regular permission to use so it would be good if we can have some assistants to commit to a date and help improve it.

The YZ's "knobbies" wont do too much damage to hard pack, as they only vaguely resemble knobies at the moment, but they do have perfectly square edges as I went round the rear with a chisle and squared them up.

nuna is hard pack and I will kill a rear tyre is a day, so it woudl be a bit expensive to run new rubber every second ride. I still get the drive I need with my rooted tyre (when its dry), but that could be the smooth power down ability of the light weight easy riding 2 stroke.

If I could go and buy a new road legal motarded kx500 (the cr5 is a bit wimpy) with radial brakes and 320 disk I would have one in a flash. I am not going to buy something that I dont like and I have not found something I like.

He's got a point Sibbo!!

But the whole idea is to make a "proper" supermoto dirt section that will have all the jumps etc and be a little more managable for the more road oriented riders eg harder packed, better berms.

Knowing what an uncool bunch of losers we road oriented riders are ;) I might also suggest 2 alternate paths through the dirt, one that involves jumps and one that doesn't, the one that does shortcutting things slightly to be ultimately the faster way...
