Any of youse guys gunna be round over Jan and want to go for a ride?
I've got until the 16th (at least, possibly longer) until I have to fly off to work again.
I'll even consider putting the Pirelli's back on and riding in the dirt, well... falling off on the dirt, but I'm still keen.
Any offers?
Will travel.

Cool Muzz, I may give you a call next week.
I'm currently trying to get the feeling back into my hands after taking the aprilia for a ride.
I went to visit my Mum in Metung, took the 'long way round' route.
Melbourne, Eildon, Jamieson, Mansefield, Whitfield, Dandongadale, Myrtleford, Hotham, Omeo, Bruthen, Metung.
The clutch failed halfway along the Eildon to Jamieson dirt road, so I rode the rest of the way trying to match revs to gearshifts, not an easy task on a bike road bike in the dirt. Also lots of fun starting after filling up with fuel.
Engage first gear, push starter button, HOP, HOP, LURCH, engine fires, TAKE-OFF!
Hopefully the KTM won't let me down.

I could have told you about the old aprilia clutch slave cylinder failure problem :)
Damn brembo ;)

What are the symptoms of the slave cylinder failing?
I've got no lever pressure, no loss of fluid, and no obvious signs of any leaks.

Symptoms are that the lever comes back to the bar and you end up with a wet leg ;) It can actually be a hard leak to find, because there's not much fluid in the circuit, so if it bleeds out while riding it may be dispersed from the slave cylinder into the air. If you refill it and let it sit for a while you should end up with a small puddle somewhere.
Easiest way to work out if you have a leak is to see if there is anything left in the system (or in the reservoir for that matter). If there is none left, it had to go somewhere :)

THe first one had a pretty bad leak from the main seal. The second one was a very small "weep" it almost looked like it was grease for lubrication not a leak.

Well Dicky got up here and we did a bit of a jaunt through the Eldorado Forest to Beechworth.
I think Dicky's KTM needs 14" wheels so he can touch the ground when the bike gets cross rutted.
We were joined by Sam today for a run up Hotham and across the Tawonga Gap and back, (eat yor heart out Neil).
All in all I thought a good couple of rides covering some varying terrain.
Dicky might not agree, but I ride this terrain regularly and feel quite comfortable with the lack of grip...

I had a great time.
The LC4 is way too big for me in the dirt, I already knew that, and the ruts just made sure I wouldn't forget it in a hurry.
I 've just been to the shop to change my tyres over again. They bloke asked how my trip was, then looked at the front tyre and said "oh, looks like you had fun then' (http://members.iinet.net.au/~dotzen/scrubbed.jpg) :)
The melting surface of the alpine roads has never been a favourite of mine, and this time was no exception. I couldn't read the road to tell if it was going to grip or slip, so I rode like a granny.
The Tawonga Gap road is easily one of the best rides in the whole country.

Work is for losers.
Right now, I'm a winner.
Ask me in two weeks if I still agree with this.

I concur, about work that is!!
I just thought I would full you in on where me and the 6R have been.
Melbourne to Mansfield (vis black spur), Mansfield to Whitfield, back to Mansfield. Mansfield to Bulla and back to Mansfield. Mansfield to Jamo and from there to some but fcuk town past it. Then on the way back, a detour down the road to Eildon and stayed there for many hill climbs. That is my favourite road in the region. The Jamo pub at the bottom helps as well (try their Pale Ale!) Then back to Mansfield and Melbourne via Buxton, Marysville, Cumberland Junction, Reefton and some countryside then Melbourne. All very fun! Pity about the bike!!!
I come out of corners and think I could short shift, tug on the bars and wheelie to the next corner, but then I realise what bike I am on.
