Nice lazy ride today, Neil & I did a bit under 250km's, heaps of bikes on the roads up in the hills. Speed limits heavily reduced everywhere so it just turned into a bit of a cruise and a chance to check out what damage the fires did to the areas.

These pics were taken at the Junction in Kinglake.

It's strange riding through al these area's now with no foliage cover, you can see for miles.

Weird ride ... many roads you just don't recognise because of the effect of the fires...

i went to the farm to pick my rm125 up today.. over the black spur for the first time since the fires. we had been using the hume and melba due to closures, really effected me seeing it. i had been up there on our property so close by during it all. i could barely recognise the countryside around there.

id recomend going for a cruise, seeing the damage done to understand just what occured, and supporting the local communities along the way. for anyone that likes hamburgers, ride the black spur, keep riding to buxton and stop at the igloo road house and get one from there.

looks like a good ride guys

Agreed the devastation for someone myself included that knows the areas so well is surreal.
Its almost like a ride on the surface of the moon.
It was the same after Ash Wednesday and going back around Warburton and Mc Mahons Creek after that ...
This is far more devastating IMO.
I had very much first hand experience in that fire so have a very good grasp of the severity of this most current tragedy.

There is a stretch of highway on the way to our families cabin that sufferd from wild fires like almost twenty years ago and you can still see the effects ,,, It's crazy! Most of the trees where toast ,, if the are still standindin hopefully they'll survive.

Muzz - you should try just riding down the melba hwy to yarra glen - you'd never pick it as the same road...

The 'Ride for the Hils' Ride is this Sunday.

http://www.rideforthehills.org.au/

I loathe riding in big groups due to the nuff nuff factor but it's a worthy cause so I plan on attending.

Anyone else?

OK, I was pushed, Ash has a sleep over at my old flat, he drugged my drink and when I wouldn't put out he pushed me down the stairs.

FFS, no means NO.

It's the lack of leaves on the trees. Heaps more wind comes through, that's why it's wobbly. ;)

Some stills from vid, yep :)

The image is a bit bendy because its a wide angle (170 degree) lens...

The camera is mounted on the front headlight thinggy, just underneath the light.
