As discussed in the other thread, lets go ride some dirt on our tards.
Track website is here www.wyndham-motox.piczo.com and here www.wyndhammotocrosstrack.com
I've called and left a message about the current track status.
I will keep this thread updated as the weather will determine if I am able to ride or not.
If its dry the week before I'm there on slicks. If it rains early in the week I'll see how it looks on the Friday night, I might put on wets.
If it's wet on the Friday I might come along and watch the guys who are bringing their knobbed up bikes ;)
Not sure on the price yet and their webpage doesn't give much info.
I'm sure Flash will chime in with a price.
Cheers MM

Alex just bring all the gear you use in the bush. Boots, nylons, gloves, helmet, goggles.
Bring some drinks and a bite to eat. I'll have tools if needed. A centre stand or something to hold the bike up.

Not a lot of info. Hoping its open on the day cause its a long drive to find out. Open from 10am - 4pm. No actual number given on Old Geelong Rd for the GPS though. Put in intersection with Wackett St then drive another couple of hundred metres past and you'll see the entrance on the right.

Ash, how bad is the fork seal leaking? Just weeping or dripping on the ground with it on the stand?
What about the Puzey?
Flash

Yeah mate it's dripping. I knew it was weeping a little but didn't think it had got that bad! I'm still keen to ride but might be a little to harsh for my very unfit arms to handle.
The puzey is lowered and soft for Carly I can ride on the flast but no way with jumps it'll bottom everywhere with me on it!!

Freud was a coke fiend.
If he did today what he did in his time there would be absolutely no credit to his theories. ;)
Quoted from Wikipedia...
Cocaine
Freud was an early user and proponent of cocaine as a stimulant as well as analgesic. He wrote several articles on the antidepressant qualities of the drug and he was influenced by his friend and confidant Wilhelm Fliess, who recommended cocaine for the treatment of the "nasal reflex neurosis." Fliess operated on Freud and a number of Freud's patients whom he believed to be suffering from the disorder, including Emma Eckstein, whose surgery proved disastrous.[31].
Freud felt that cocaine would work as a panacea for many disorders and wrote a well-received paper, "On Coca," explaining its virtues. He prescribed it to his friend Ernst von Fleischl-Marxow to help him overcome a morphine addiction he had acquired while treating a disease of the nervous system.[32] Freud also recommended it to many of his close family and friends. He narrowly missed out on obtaining scientific priority for discovering cocaine's anesthetic properties (of which Freud was aware but on which he had not written extensively), after Karl Koller, a colleague of Freud's in Vienna, presented a report to a medical society in 1884 outlining the ways in which cocaine could be used for delicate eye surgery. Freud was bruised by this, especially because this would turn out to be one of the few safe uses of cocaine, as reports of addiction and overdose began to filter in from many places in the world. Freud's medical reputation became somewhat tarnished because of this early ambition. Furthermore, Freud's friend Fleischl-Marxow developed an acute case of "cocaine psychosis" as a result of Freud's prescriptions and died a few years later. Freud felt great regret over these events, which later biographers have dubbed "The Cocaine Incident."[citation needed] However, he managed to move on, and even continued to use cocaine. Jurgen von Scheidt speculated that most of Freud's psychoanalytical theory was a byproduct of his cocaine use.[33]
lol, go Sigmund!
Apologies for the hijack. ;)

I'm probably a 50/50 at the moment - looks a bit wet for the husky and I have stuff next week that means I don't really need to dump it in the dirt. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to really try out the KX forks on the KDX yet, and they seem to be binding quite badly at the moment. May only be a matter of incorrect front axle spacing but will need to look tomorrow morning :?

Just spoke to Albonator and no one has turned up to open the track and they're not answering their phone and haven't changed the message.
Fazio is with him and they're heading to Broadmeadows MX track instead on Mahoney's Rd which is open and $30 to ride for the day.
I spoke to Broady and asked about the track condition and he said to wet for motard but should be good 2moro.

well........ what a day
laverton was closed and stayed there til fazio turned up to discuss what to do next. fazio headed towards geelong to go somewhere out there, I just went to broad meadows track. Was a mud bath.
as you'll see from the pics here:

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee172/albonator316/IMG_0404.jpg
big jumps = big crashes
I was at the track alone to begin with, went on the little intermediate track to get ready for the the big track. couldn't have been a bigger difference between the two tracks :lol2:
got myself on the big track, only thing driving me forward was my own stupidity, and there was plenty there to use up
went around twice slow to figure out where everything was then went for it, hitting jumps as hard as I could with my very limited skill and traction. Hitting jumps all wrong and just crashing huge lol, very lucky I didn't hurt myself more I think.
After the last big crash I called it a day. all battered and bruised
Gonna try it again, but at laverton next time, looks like a much kinder track lol

well after meeting with nick at closed track..
kept on driving and met up with a mate who id planned a ride with.
went to barabool track, no rain up there so it was dry and dusty.
hard pack in some areas and deep sand in others, had a couple fo bike troubles but in all i learnt a heap! got a half a dozen laps in and was rooted.. one section was near impossible to get through on the 125.. so just hit the hard pack bit more and enjoyed the jumps!!!
looking forward to another session with you guys, laverton track looked better by far than where i was.. would be a good ride

Looks like I made the right decision after all. I was a bit dubious about whether or not it would be open, with the generic phone message. How hard is it to update it to tell people you're not open. :?
Points for commitment there Nick. Lucky you came out relatively unscathed by the sounds of it! Broadmeadows is sooo crap!
only thing driving me forward was my own stupidity, and there was plenty there to use up
Sounds just like my technique on the dirt! I tried an MX track (mostly natural terrain) for the first time a few weeks ago... it's a bit different!
Glad you had fun and got away with only a few bruises!
albonator316
05-04-2009, 04:51 PM
yep, you made the right decision there dean ;)
Next time i'm going to go when its dry and try and get some traction to make it to the end of the double and not the start ;)
waking up this morning I discovered all the injuries lol
Bruised right knee
corked thigh, left leg
bruised ribs on right side
can't quite bend left elbow all the way
strained muscles in neck.
somehow I still had fun :D

definately worth doing again though, looking forward to it

If you want to get used to riding sand Faz we could go to Frankston next time. At least that one's always open. Not real good for the motards though.
