Whoo Hooo
I found out that I can get my bike out to 535cc that will be good enough for the turbo. Just got to work out the oil cooling/system/capacity.

Well, you'll have the whole thing apart to put in the stroker crank ... you can work out there whether you can perhaps squeeze in a drilling somewhere to tap off an oil line and uprate your oil pump, or whether you can indeed so something with the line to the head (although you'll need to think about some flow testing to make sure the cam bearings are kept nice and happy). So I guess that means you found a wiseco or other big bore piston then??

If it were I Ash, I think I'd be looking at a hybrid build using a 680 Rotax base in a C & R chassis from the States as a 'street tracker', and go with the turbo application there. Ultimately more bang for your buck!

I went to my dealer (first class motorcycles) and found that they had spent a fair bit of time researching the capacity increase already, the piston is a European brand (as you can tell I can't remember the name)
Muzz another bike will be awile away.(the Missus factor)

The piston is most likely a Mahle, and if not it should be! I still think its a lot of engineering and modification for limited return in horsepower being bound by valve timing and engine capacity... Is there an earlier model engine from Husky that will slot into your frame without the valve timing problems that could be bench developed then technology transferred once ironed out?... Besides that, you have obviously got a real good deal on wholesale priced parts to go with the buildup?

From my info you can take the rotax out to 720cc

I believe when stretched out to the 720 engine, they are prone to heat dissapation problems given the loss of material to transfer into. I have ridden a few modded 680's and they are not wanting in the HP stakes!

What do they make the bores 30 mm thick or something???

This guy is a rotax specialist in England, "Mick Keogh has managed to squeeze an extra 65 per cent more bhp from a CCM Roadster, giving it 78bhp.
The CCM’s 78bhp is harnessed in a featherweight 138kg (303lb) chassis. That gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 0.57bhp/litre –similar to a sports 600.
Keogh had to modify or swap most of the main engine components. The barrel had to be bored out to give the engine a 648cc capacity. A 102mm piston fills the gap and the head has been reworked and given larger valves.
The 36mm inlet valves are now 40mm stainless steel and the 30mm exhaust valves are now 2mm bigger. Keogh’s experiments to find power with reliability saw the sacrifice of four heads in an effort to find a way of fitting the valves without them overlapping and hitting each other at high revs. The compression ratio is now 11:1, up from 9.2:1, and the bike thumps out 58ft.lb of torque, up 24ft.lb on stock. The clutch has had to be redesigned to stop it slipping at anything over half-throttle."

Sounds interesting.....!
There was a CCM at the track tonight, one of the later models with the DRZ motor in it. Sounded damn nice and seemed to go allright 8)

was it the 644 or the 404 ?

Gotta say, after seeing the amount of STOMP that 'berg 650 had, you'd have to give that some serious consideration!! :D

What physical size is the rotax? Do you think it would fit in a modern dirt bike? OK a good light one.
I'm ordering a workshop manual so I can get an idea of oil pump, galleries etc.

what does a ccm weigh? How would it go around a track?

I have this weird dream .... which involves a modern, liquid cooled motor which has good reliability and makes good power ... such as a kitted XR650R .... coupled with a triangulated chrome molly frame .... upside down ohlins forks .... ohlins rear .... 5.5 inch rear .... and so on ....

They were a good engine in their day but they are old and outdated now, i think they have been around for 20 years or so. Rotax have now stopped producing them (604) which is why CCM started using Suzuki engines. The BMW 650 and the Aprillia 650 are both Rotax lumps, the BMW has been modified to their own specs. The RSV 1000 uses the same piston and some of the internals as the 604 (the CCM engine). The problems with liquid cooled Rotax's is that the castings are soft and don't stand upto much abuse, Aprillia had quite a few problems with studs sinking into the head. A guy (Muzz or Neil may know of him, John Renwick) I know used a Folan 1000cc v-twin in a road bike, he was getting over 120bhp with an engine weighing very little, he ran it in the Battle of the Twins to some success. It was no bigger than a VTR 250 engine. He also ran a heavily modified Vincent in the UK BoTT, he was getting 115 bhp at the back wheel. It gave the dukes a run for their money.

Hmm, there's a point .... do you think a set of CRF forks and long travel shock would fit on a honda RS250?

John, anything that will do a Desmodronic/desmosedici/pepperoni injected thingy is good in my books! Man I dislike them :chainsaw:
