View Full Version : EBC Oversize Supermoto rotors?

I just received my wheels, hubs and front rotor in the mail. When I opened the rotor packaging I found a red warning sticker stating the the rotor is not for on-road use. I usually ignore most of these warnings, but then the warning went on to state that the circlips could come loose, effectively causing a braking failure.
Has anyone else used an EBC rotor for their supermoto? How likely is something like this to happen? I've attached a pic of the rotor so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Also, when fitting this to a DRZ400E will I need to get an extended brakeline? If so, wich one should I go for?

Cheers,
Peter.

i have one on mine ... got it second hand ... no dramas yet but might have to keep a close eye out for failures

d_kimo did you have to change the front brake line?

the brake line fits fine ... although i put a braidid one on before i got the motard wheels ... but i am pretty sure that the braided one was the same length as the stock one

cheers

I've got an EBC on mine and it's done about 18,000k's without a problem. Sounds like a cover-your-arse statement to me :?

That's what I was thinking as well.. just wanted to confirm that it was ok to ride with them at motorway speeds..

Cheers,
Peter.

Put a dab of silicon on each circlip if you are concerned this will give some extra piece of mind

A lot of manufacturers have circlip style buttons on the carrier, Talon and EBC are the most common, but others are rivetted like my own discs and Braking, Galfer etc...
When designing the carrier for my own discs, I went with the stainless rivets, as I only started to make the rotors because Talon buttons flog out in no time with the vibration and the arseholes wouldnt cover it on warranty when the disc was only 3 months old...
So I built my own...

Have no fear, Like Neil,
I also think its someone trying to cover thy arse...
