Guys, The introduction of a pillion in my life has me at the cross roads looking at a good time or a pillion ride! Being as smart as I am (at least I hope to be one day), the Berg is up for sale.
I haven't ridden as much this year (duely noted by my absense from events and gatherings) so the bike has only got 152hours on the donk and just over 11,800 kilometres on the clock. It is the best bike I've ever owned or ridden and to be honest makes me look like I can ride :smokin:
As with all great motards, this one has some Avon Dispenza's shod. I actually got them from Muzz and would never go back to the Michelins or Bridgestones again.
The bike was originally purchased from Bendigo Dirt Bike and all major services have been done there. Mick and the guys know this bike as it amazed them with how good commuting is for a big Berg. Oil has been changed every 10 hours or less depending on riding conditions. It has had maybe 30 kms on the gravel, the rest has been road (and one stint on the kart track in Wodonga). :fart:
So, what is a 2004 650 Motard worth? It seems to depend on who you ask. I'd like to get real money for it. It cost $15k new and has only had maintenance and one roller rocker replaced, so running costs have been minimal. It is always garaged and transported longer distances. Don't get me wrong, it is for sale, but if I didn't need to sell it would continue as my daily giggle machine... ever have those days at work and just need to break out? Guess what.. this is one of the means to do it.
PM me if you are interested and we can talk $$'s. I'd also be interested in a trade for the right bike. I've also got recent images, and there are a few in the gallery. If you want to see the bike, I might be on it for the Christmas ride...

You could always weld some pillion pegs on it mate ;)

Cool idea Neil, then the first light I take off from will be the last for my pillion!!! You've seen me ride :D it is about survival. BTW I had looked into that as an option, but a 9 litre tank does not lend itself to distance touring. Must admit I'm a bit like Muzz, would do nicely on the new Buell. :-$
Speaking of which there is a ride day at Harley City on the 10th and I am taking one for a spin. I know that is track day too, but as I ain't punting the 'for sale' bike figure I'll burn someone elses fuel! :butthead:

Hey Danno have a look at the Husly 610 real motard with real world usability. I have only heard good things about them!! With 2 year warranty you can't go wrong.

I was thinking of the test ride booking for the 10th too Danno.
There's a ride and test day at CJ's in Albury this Saturday the 2nd too, but I think I will be in Shepparton.

You booked yet?
What time you get?
Hope you can make the night on the 10th too mate.

do you know if there ars many changes from the 04 fs650e to the 05fs650e, and how do they compair to the 05 husky510smr in power, brakes etc.

Not 100% but I think the berg's haven't changed all that much the last couple of years ... the husky 510 is a good bike, but it won't compare to the berg in terms of power (husky 510 is around low 50's hp, the berg is low to mid 60's...)

Welcome Andy,
The '04 Bergs were being run out as an '05 model calling them an '04 update.
The kit included the new handlebars and top clamp, plastic set, 'Force' bag, (big deal!) and basically other stuff that differed from the '05.
This would leave me to assume the '04 and '05 are engine wise, very similiar, and most of the upgrade is bolt on controls and plastic stickers...

Power wise the Berg is the toy, as Neil said, with over 60HP outta the 650 piss easy...

My understanding of the 04 vs 05 Berg is big. :-k They shortened the stroke, changed the piston design to rev higher and lowered the CC from 640 to 625, but with an increase in torque and hp! There was also a change in the front caliper from the Beringer 6 pot to a 4 pot, it came with wavy discs and moved from Pilot Sport tyres to Pilot Power.
Also the front brake reservoir was changed from an enclosed alloy unit to an opaque plastic unit. The rest as they said is plastic and cosmetics.
I spoke to my man in Bendigo on Monday and he says the 06 SM has a blue tank and doesn't look as good as the enduro with the yellow plastic tank. Don't know about mechanicals on the 06.
As Neil and Muzz both say, at 60+hp at the rear wheel, it is a hoot to ride. Don't know about the 510 but it would either have to be way tweaked for that sort of output, or put out less. I guess it depends on what you are wanting it for and your preferred riding style. For me the extra power is a delight in commuting and travelling at speeds in excess of 140 :wtf:

Anyone still interested in a big Berg, mine is sitting and waiting for a new owner. Took some photo's of it recently to remind the Neil's of the world what they look like:

still reckon you could do the crazy stuff on this and commute on the DRZ Neil, but then again you might find the Suzi down on power and grin factor.... :D

I'm looking for a bike I can commute on during the week - and get into long-track racing on weekends (with BEARS, Lites etc) up here in NSW. The big 'berg is one of the bikes I'm looking at. Is yours road legal / registered? Would be interested to see the pics too, your link above seems to be dead. PLease PM me with your price expectations if you don't want to post them, that might save some back & forth.

Thanks mate :)

Danno's Berg was well looked after with regular servicing and in nice cosmetic condition last time I saw him...
Would be a good buy for what you want a bike for I reckon... ;)

Thats all very well but he won't tell me how much he wants for it! Think he must be going off the idea of selling it - I know the feeling...

Danno mate - check your PMs or just email me your price expectations.
