Oh, Dosen't sound to good.
Better throw the trials uni on the back of the big wheels then.
Unless you want to be valentino or chad reed , places are getting
thin to ride.

Really ?? Is there some doubt ?? On the sporties site it says

"NEXT IPSWICH KART TRACK PRACTICE SESSION:

Dates for 2009 will be published soon
Bikes will need to comply with new rules to run on the track.
These will be published soon "

Would that not suggest that it looks promising ??

Be just my fecken luck though. Just as I get into it they close the track down!! Same thing happened to me with Darlington Park. And I had to resort to QLD paperclip.... dont send me back there.... PLEASE!!!!!!!

It's a case of wait and see.

The best scenario however would be our own track, hopefully sooner rather than later.

What's going on with the track that Fuji has been working on? Any news?

Same as last update.

Couple of jumps, a bit of dirt laid out, club house coming along, no timeline for bitumen.

Ahh my great diagram, I should get into the 'instructional diagrams' trade haha.
I made a mistake because the tarmac goes around to the right of the jump, not over it, other wise you would be hitting the jump at like 150 if you were riding the tar
Everyone is so depressed, be positive !! 8)

I've crossed fingers, toes and appendages which I fear will now drop off due to lack of circulation.

Anyone know when the next working bee is at the Nth Brissy track or is it Down tools till after xmas ?

mate you should come to morgan park for racing it would be cool to have more single cylinders out there. I heard a rumour they are going to split the aprilia's and singles into 2 championship classes.........

Yeah I'll definitly be in for anything at Morgan park for sure. I'm just keen to get some more practice under my belt having only ever ridden this thing twice.
I liked the idea of being able to shoot out to ippy a couple of times a month for nice cool evening practices.

Hopefully it will pan out.....

Hahaha, what is it with roadracers and the 6 billion classes. Two hundred fucken trophies at the last sportsmen dinner.

When I had a single they wouldn't let us compete for points against supermono, so you won't be with them. I think they just split everyone up by capacity, number of cylinders, fairing colour, sexual persuasion, and eye colour until everyone gets a trophy.

I'll be there on a single Jov.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of battling the twins.

   Fuck yeah Steve

That's shit if they split the apes and singels, bullshit. If they do that may as well split the singles and twins on the motard tracks as well where they are lighter and easier to ride in the dirt. Aprilia Cup we could have. Or split light riders and heavy riders, or people who prefer left or right hand corners....
Stop complaining, like I said before Cole can punt the crf450 around there OK and it was only losing like a bike length or so down the straight plus being a bit lighter it has its advantages as well. They can go alright just have to ride em. Helps that he is A grade RR but it proves they can get close to the apes.
All bikes have advantages and disadvantages on different tracks.

i think Cole should have his own class

Why don't you split the tards into S1 and S2? Now that would be fair!

SM93

it won't be split for RR

Welcome Tom! looking forward to seeing how the 450 Kato goes at MP.

The Wacker boys will still be on singles next year and there should be a few others to split up the Aprilia cup.

Even with our supermoto club events we just split it by qualifying times. It would be nice for someone to have to make that decision, it would mean we'd have over 30 motards out road racing. :D

Anyway, there's no big deal. The Ape was worth no more than 1/2 a second over the 525 (which is close enough to 450 power). I ran 1:10's on them both, and my biggest improvements since then have been from holding corner speed in a couple of corners, and braking later on a couple of corners.

SM93

hopefully there will be more interest this year, i know of few of the boys were keen but just didn't get round to it. All none Aprilia riders to!!!

Argh all this talk of racing is just making me more anxious to get out there!!! Need practice, need practice.....

Jovian, you must know of a big industrial car park somewhere near where you work where we could stick some witches hats out and have a play? ? ;)

I've been thinking about this too, does anyone know of a trucking company or similar that has a huge yard that they want to rent out for a day?

SM93

best places are new estates, not to many safe industrial estates around they either haven't used before by stunters, hoons etc.

Seriously though... There used to be a rider training set up down on the corner of Sandgate Rd and East/West Aterial... looking left when travelling south bound - Southside of Toombul Centro.

Otherwise down on Hamilton Rd close to the Hwy, theres an area I think which is used for driver training...

:-k

SM93
12-12-2008, 11:32 AM
the driver training area would be good but not sure u can get in there anymore. def enough room to have a track but would have to be done legit as alot of traffic passes through the area. Maybe we can put a list together of spots pass it on to sporties and see what we can do to make it a place to ride

Shouldnt somebody in the shipping/logistics industry know some people who work on the docks? ;)

SM93

good luck getting a race track there hahaha, its hard enough to get an unauthorised person on there let alone a fleet of motorcycles. PLuis there isn't much room there anyways

Fair point...
Could really learn about committing to corners, running wide might see you in the drink.

Anyone have any updates on tracks in SEQ, seems as though ipswich is being renovated at the moment and North Gate is being fixed up. Know when or if they will open back up.

SM93
09-02-2009, 03:01 PM
No likely ipswich will be used by tards this year. next tard track day is at Stanthorpe March 14 with first round of state titles the following day. HAve a ride one day watch the action the next

Also fairly regular track days at Morgan Park this year

Ash007
09-02-2009, 03:12 PM
Is the track at northgate being used for tards when it is finished?

SM93
09-02-2009, 03:33 PM
it sure will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its mainly for us due to the size of it

Ash007
09-02-2009, 03:48 PM
For someone without a bike looking to get into supermoto racing from a MX / Enduro background what is a good bike for the track sizes we have in SEQ, 250 450 or 500+ & it has to be road registered though. Morgan park appears to have longer straights that would favour the larger bikes but on the tighter tracks will they suffer from the extra pork?

SM93
09-02-2009, 04:01 PM
525 exc would be my bet, good one for sale atm on here with all the gear

Is that your honda on your avitar jovian?

devo
09-02-2009, 04:09 PM
Jovian is prob talking about my EXC. Not to be a downer on my own bike, but I honestly would be buying an SXV550 with the way our tracks are at the moment. More suited to the big tracks, and still very fun to ride on a small track, albeit massive overkill and a bit heavy.

SM93
09-02-2009, 04:13 PM

I've been looking at 08 510 SMR's that are going for a bit over 10 NEW. I'm a bit dissapointed by Ipswich not opening. I only live 5 min down the road. Do you guys do any mountain runs on your tards?

SM93
09-02-2009, 04:31 PM
mine is pure track, but there are a few streeters on that ride regularly

Daws

Ipswich may still be on the cards for this year.

It was mentioned at the meeting that sporties are still actively involved in dialogue with the new Kart club committee to try and work out the finer points of the agreement, namely the track damage penalty clause.

Anyway, it doesn't look like the track resurfacing will be complete until the end of March so Stanthorpe will be next chance to ride.
