I am going to Heathcoat on the 20th of November 2005 with a group of road bike mates to do a spot of drag racing. I will be mostly riding the 6R, but might take the YZ as well for some 1/4 m action.
It is $45 to drag as many times as you can (your clutch) handle.
So who is up for it?

Working in the office all that weekend. Better work the gearing out on the YZ pretty well though or you'll be in the over rev before you get half way.I've heard 12.5 - 13.5 for a 250 - 450 be nice to know if it's true. good luck!

Anyone want to lend me a chain and a tiny rear sprocket for the weekend?

My MX ones are good (read on the way out), but 50 tooth rear aint going to get me more that 135 kph! + ET 25 seconds? But it would be good wheelie!! Well, wiht a stoppie after the line.

The 6R will be running a 180 (or whatever they call em in slick language) slick, so watch out for big burnouts! If it pops, I have 2 backups (wet and pilot race). I love free stuff!
It is goign to be a tight squeeze and the profile is going to be way out of shape (normal is 160 on 5inch), but who cares for the drags. It does not have enough aggressive power to spin a normal tyre on the road (I have to get used to opening the gas 100%, as YZ only ever 50%!), so a hot slick on the drag track, I dont think so.

Depends what pressure you run. With a much larger tyre its going to pinch up on the rim, so you will probably end up with less contact patch than your 160 unless you drop the pressure down shitloads (assuming here that its a normal shaped slick and not a dedicated drag slick of sorts).
I think the yz would struggle with a large sticky road tyre as well :)

Hey there, dont go dissing the YZ.....or are you suggesting that a 180 wont fit in the ZY swing arm?
Well I tried!!! Man 180's are huge, but the 160 on the 5 inch rims looks doable.
So what pressure are we looking at for the 6r draging the 180, 18-25 psi? And yes, it is a circuit racing stick, not some poofy drag race slick (yes, I think drag racers are poofs, where are the corners?)

Depends a lot on the bike/car. If you dont have a problem with too little grip, run it high so that you get less resistance. If grip is an issue then run it low so you have a big foot print. I don't recon you will have a grip problem even with the standard tyre on a stock bike with a track covered in VHT!! I think you are more likely to flip than to wheel spin. But if you just want to put a big slick on for the hell of it go for it. You'll find with out wheelie bars or extended swing arm it will make no difference, it might make you slower being bigger and heavier.

I dont really care about ETs, as the more I slip the clutch the faster I will go, as the 6R dose not produce hp untill 10Krpm. The fat slick is to be a showoff and do big burnouts, you know me!

Hey, the bike has a reputation for losing the front end, but there are no corners to fall off on. But my guess is before the start line. Burnout gone wrong! Get thoes comeras ready.

ATTENTION: The ride is off, I have just been informed it is a Ford only day, so we (I) cant ride.
If anyone was planning on going, dont as you will only see crap cars. Sorry for the late notice, but I have only just been informed.

We can have a good old tussle then and the benefit is that you dont hurt yourself as much when you go really slow!
