Mine has always been on the rich side of things oily and black exhaust tips and you can just smell it... if i cut a few holes, the marked ones on the air box will this lean it out.
$2,200 for a 6K service pistons/rings replacement, valve adjustment etc?? From Bikebiz parra.

That's just the reccomended service. Once opened generally I think they will not need replacement pistons, maybe just the rings.

Oil/ filter is changed every 800K's last shop service was with Dave Ward at around 4k, bike is running fine just a little rich as mentioned but no biggie, they said its just preventative servicing.
I would love to do it myself but so unsure of doing valve clearances, let alone piston replacement and TPS i can't so with out the Axone i think.

Mine has the Unifilter which basically has no airbox lid. As the bike is injected this doesn't lean it out as the injection maps compensate for the increased air flow. If you want to lean it out i think you need to alter the map/injection settings.

I have mine down at MMT at Granville, seemed like pretty nice guys and took an interest in my bike straight away even though it is very non-bling haha. I told them to have it for a week cause they arent open on the weekend and I have a couple of hours free each Friday, so I will report how it all went once I get it back. As an indication though, they quoted me $280 for a service incl value clearance check, bike biz was over $400 for the exact same thing! Hence why I went to MMT

You dont need to touch the engine yet, leave it till around 9-10k km's.
Then you will need rings but most likely not much else.
If it gets to that stage & you need to replace rings etc. if you are able to pull the motor yourself (its easy) it will cost around $500 + parts for a full strip & assess what it needs & back together as long as nothing is seriously wrong.
If you want it leaned off a bit bring it out. Reset the TPS at the same time & your away again.

its not the states bikes cost real money in Aus , you would only have 1-2 shit boxes in aus for that which arnt worth riding anyway .
