OK Its on again! :D
Summer Sliding and Dealer Day,
has been booked for the 28/29 November,
Pretty much the same as the Spring Session Sleepover only with more blokes and bikes by then usually.
I will be emailing most of the dealers concerned in the coming days / weeks.
Anyone who has close association with any dealer principles can PM me an email address to be included on the mailout.
Again looking for assistance in the setting up and running of this day to make it as good as it can possibly be.
Thanks to Faz I already have a bit of a head start to some leads.
In an effort to make this run well with limited hassle I am going to ask those wanting to attend to prepay the booking guaranteeing them a position in one of the groups.
The bookings can be made by PM to me
Payment details will be in the return PM
Once your booking has been noted you will receive another PM with your Group Allocation.
Group lists will be published 24 hours prior to the event so there will be no confusion
Anyone that 'blows in' can then be slotted into a group easily.
There will be the opportunity to ride the Friday night session again under lights and use the dirt section,
Those riders that can only attend on Friday night please liase with TT staff regards track fee,
Only those riding both Friday night and Saturday,
or Saturday only,
are to book in advance
More to follow ...

Sounds awesome!
I'll book once I have leave confirmed.
WOOT!
Perhaps we can get a Qld contingent down for this one - especially if there's a Broadford trackday around the same date.
edit - There's a Broadford trackday on the Friday after so no chance of the double :(

Hey Muzz see if you can organise a early booking discout for all people who pre enter! $5 or so! Might encourage a few to commit!
tambi

Isn't it only $50 or so anyway?
Muzzard
22-09-2008, 06:24 PM
Yeah Ash ya tight arse.
$50 will get you both days riding and camping if you want to.
I think thats pretty good as it is.
I should charge you an extra $5 to go towards VSMR but I dont.
If I can get to :?: Allan I will,
No promises no pack drill.

Sounds good, now that Anthony has a drz i have a spare xr250 here if anybody wants to ride it. Not much to look at as you know but is available if a bike-less person wants to have a go.

Yeah, as i said it's nothing special. Anthony had a ball on it at TT, so if it can bring a smile to someone's dial for the day then its all good. If Anthony cant make it down then may have a problem with transport.

i will almost certainly be in for this however with my current musical bikes situation i will have to leave it till a bit closer till the date to confirm.
i had an absolute ball at the last one, i hope to again....just hopefully keep the bike upright...and maybe go round a bit quicker this time ;)

Sweet,
Use your avatars secret powers ;)
Had a few responses but not too much in the way of pre registering by PM so I can get the admin sorted as we go rather than a mad scramble and confusion as to whats what on the day.
Pull your fingers out and get it marked on the calendar.
First in best dressed,
The missus cant take you off anywhere you dont wanna go,
The kids dont need jackshit on that day,
If its been on the calendar for the last month :D
"I'm going to a track day and looking at or test riding a new Puzey XTR250LCSM,
Possibly a Husaberg 450 to look at as they are all presold so far,
A new Aprilia hopefully and maybe some 2009 KXFs as well,
So like I said family,
I'm off to TT" ;)
More emails out this week and some response already returned from some interested dealers.
For a bit of a change how about a small steel jump like we used at Wodonga on the straight and definitely use the dirt section this time,
Cutting off the track with bunting and bollards each session?
We would definitely need a leaf blower on the day if that was the case
With a bit of assistance we could even have a working bee there beforehand and build another jump on the dirt section after the first 2 berms and as you straighten up to go down the hill ...

Last time we alternated it around - some times with the dirt, some times without. This also gave a chance to give it a bit of a rest from breaking up and maybe we could do some repacking work in the off sessions...
Muzzard
12-10-2008, 06:10 AM
You could still have screaming tyres Dave.
It needs some spicing up to make it a bit more interesting IMO.
Never mind maybe another day ...

Props to whoever took the picture
It took a while to get the bike balanced on the rear tyre like that
dangermouse1100
12-10-2008, 06:16 AM
Think the old dr would leave craters in the track jumping off that, interesting but. :D
Muzzard
12-10-2008, 06:52 AM
Ash's 950 would cop this little one Dave.
Wait for the next little venture into the world of UrbanCross SM and the use of MX based sidecars as well :P
Thats another thread and day /time though...
B.O.T then,
No steel jumps just the dirt section,
So get your jumping gear on whatever they may be or look like
SMC690
12-10-2008, 01:41 PM
That jump would make it interesting if we reversed the track and forgot to turn it around. ;)
MarkeeMark
12-10-2008, 07:21 PM
Fug That! Bring the metal jump I say
Also I was thinkin now that the dirt is back in action we should put a nice small set of doubles in the 1st straight between the 2 berms, nothing big just some variety. And on the line parallel we should flatten the mini/baby whoops and tiny jump just before the small berm on the inside and put in a small dirt ski jump right in the middle!
Thoughts?
All that's needed is some effort, a wheel barrow or 2, a couple of picks/mattocks/spades and we'd be done! Who's with me?
Muzzard

just when i thought "next time i definetly wont crash, even with a new bike i know that track now and where to take it easy".... i can see myself now lying twisted in the dirt somewhere on my new pride and joy.... :(
dirt sounds fun ... but the only experience i have with it is cleaning it out from underneath my fingernails...
any chance of a very learner friendly dirt practice session somewhere before i have a crack with a bunch of shortstrokes flying all over me.

Ben just find a quiet dirt road in the outta suburbs with a few open corners and go riding on that. That will give the feeling of riding on the dirt the rest just comes with practice.
Just remember smooth, smooth, smooth on the controls...........brakes, throttle and clutch.
Don't worry about the jumps you can easily roll them.
And riding on the dirt will definately teach you to ride with your leg out!

I'll be there to help if I'm not riding!
I'll see if I can get a leaf blower sorted too.
I like Neils idea of having mixed sessions. ! with dirt and jump on with out and maybe change the direction as well. I'm sure most will prefer to wear both sides of the tyres!
SMC690
13-10-2008, 07:25 PM

Sounds like its shaping up to be a good day Gerry but with only 2 riders prebooked and 1 asking regards coming along to spectate,
Its not gonna be a big day.
If there isnt some responses in the coming days people will miss out.
In an attempt to get everyone some value I asked for prebooking to organise grouping in advance and that makes it easier on the day to slot in new riders or people at the last minute.
I dont want to be doing the spreadsheets on Thursday night the 27th either.
PM the bookings or run the risk of missing out.
There is only a certain number of bikes that can be on the track at one time and more than 3 sessions of bikes your waiting a while between sessions and standing instead of riding.
We had 25 turn up last time,
It will have to be capped at 30 reasonably (3 groups of 10).

All a bit up in the air ATM. When I know, I'll let you know
Gotta see what I get for mine, and then decide whether I want a 125 (to be later made a 150) a KTM 200 or a 250. All I know is it's gonna be a 2-stroke because I don't have the time or money at the moment to keep maintaining a 4T when I'm not racing atm anyway, and the 250F is so damn easy to ride I'm actually just bored with it (and I can't afford a 450 that's not about to drop its engine). Need that 2t challenge again.
A friend might be buying the 250F, if not I'll post it up on a new thread soon. ;)

Also calling for anyone that is not riding and would like to be involved to help keep the pits organised / try to keep organised so riders are ready to start their session.
There will be rider group lists on the pit fence as well as when you sign on at TT.
You can swap groups on the day if you want to as there is no particular order for how the groups are structured basically by how the bookings come in although it would have to be on a 'one for one basis' to keep the group numbers capped at 10.

Just this minute off the 'au de cologne' with Richie from Valley Force Husaberg.

No not a 570 but the 450 as Valley Force now have 'emselves a demo bike.

Will be there tomorrow afternoon Dean.
Thanks mate.
I spoke to Richie this morning and there will be the Valley Force Husaberg demo 2009 450 with the new revolutionary laydown 70 degree cylinder fitted with Richies wheelset.
Young Matt is back again too for the smallbore 2 stroke fans on the flying SX125 now with his own wheelset and tyres :P
Good on ya Matt ..
I get the impression there may be an opportunity to 'bike whore' the 450 but please limit that to if you are seriously interested in a purchase rather than for the sake of doing it.
Have had nothing from Puzey Australia this last week regards the availability of the XTR250LC that was discussed as being made possible to look at / test.
I will again ask what the G-O is there this coming week.
Shade is again going to be a factor and are seeking input / assistance there too.
I will ask Richie to bring the Valley Force tent that Sibbo used at Calder Rd6 again, no doubt he will anyway,
and ask anyone else to bring what you have available.
Mark has usually been the man to always come through with a tarp etc,
I have had the tent repaired again and there will be a large tarp setup with poles in the gravel area adjacent to the fence for us to rest between sessions.
Hopefully someone will come to the party with a drink promo and have sent out a few hints to attend to several parties ;)
Only a couple of weeks to go so if you are planning on riding either day get the PM in now.
Dirt is on the agenda and rotating direction on the morning and afternoon still including the dirt to even up tyres
Cheers ... ;)

TT is such a small track with a short straight though, I don't think there would be too much of an issue with running a 125 there. I wouldn't want to go anywhere that required screaming the crap out of the things, like Calder was. Since there's no where else to ride in Vic atm that's why I'm considering running one just for a bit of fun. Having said that, I ran my RM125 on standard rims at Bairnsdale and Cobden rounds back in 05, running two classes virtually back to back and I was revving it too hard for too long and seized the bottom end in the last race. It was a three year old bike by that stage though too. Flipside was it only cost me $350 to repair though, not like some of the massive 4T rebuild bills goin' on around here lately. ;)

Went in to Bikemart today and was lucky enough to catch up with Brian who was dropping in on his day off. Once again he has stepped up and donated a pair of gloves for whatever we want to do with them. I told him the last set went to the best crash and he was happy with that  .
Same type but this time in medium, but he can exchange for whatever size fits. Also got the banner again for a bit of promotion for him.
I also went and saw Scotty and Donny at Scotty's Dirt bike spares. Unfortunately they have no Gas Gas motards to bring out, apparently theres no 09's in the country, and all of the 08's went to Sydney. Donny is looking into getting a set of wheels for his 300 Gas Gas 2t he's recently stepped up to so he was keen to come out.

Nice one Dean.
Brian has always been a keen supporter because he knows the bulk of blokes on here will sooner or later end up in his store.
Cheers Brian ;)
Good to have a few more of the Ringwood dealers involved and can only lead to better things.
I am discussing the option to hold another special track day there soon with a few man made obstacles,

Only a week to go and only 6 riders on Friday night and 13 for the Saturday so far.
Please indicate if you have any intention of attending on either day undecided or not, so I can sort out some regime for riders with TT staff.
If you dont come it just means there will be less in that group and it can accommodate another rider.
It will be no doubt last minute that Bear and the Surf Coast Crew hook up and land enmasse so that should fill 2 groups of riders pretty well.
I prompted him through Facebook today so hopefully he will remember
Weather,
Should be good although there is showers leading up to it.
Hopefully we will swing a decent day out of the 2 and even better to be both :D

I may be able to put some roadies on the standard rims on the KX125. I have a set I used on the RM a few years ago. But how good would tyres be that have sat under my house for 4 years? :?

Its a dirt session weekend anyway so the overall 3 apex is now gonna be a single apex and a hairpin onto the dirt.

Yeah me too only they are 250 ones that would bolt straight into a KDX I reckon,
17 and 20mm axles
Go figure ;)
Woolf555
21-11-2008, 10:09 AM
I'm not sure what axle size they actually are, but it's slightly larger than the YZ's. I tried putting the YZ wheels into it and there was no way they were going to fit. When I tried to put the axle through just to sit them in there I found the KX axle was slightly larger than the Yamaha hub. :?
Thanks for the offers guys. It's all good, I can just run the skinnies for a bit of fun. It will give me an idea as to whether I want to go and get a full set of 17's for it or not. I just wont be setting any lap records. Me and Ash can just have our own little competition ;)
I think its good to have some standard wheels running around because shows interested riders that you dont have to spend a heap of money just to have a go and see if you like it.
I'll be there but just not sure what time I can get out, depending on what the missus is working that weekend.

Actually, the 17's work better all round, even in the dirt because of the increased contact patch. Thin slicks will just wheel spin even more. Maybe I should just leave the knobbies on and at least get through the dirt at a decent pace

Yeah, you could get around pretty well through the tight left/right at the end of the straight too, and also through the narrow dirt section. I'd love to throw a full set on and I've seen some good KX stuff on Ebay lately, but I've just got to decide whether it's really worth spending that much just to ride at TT occasionally.

No, its cool, don't need to use it. Just if you can bring it down if you don't need it. PM sent. ;)
Also, you can slot someone else into my spot on group 2 if need be. I wont be slicking up the KX125 cause I've got a dirt ride early Sunday morning and wont have time to do the tyre changes. From the moment i left home yesterday i knew it was going to be wet :( , but we came anyway. Driving 200 kms to be rained out is not a good prospect but unfortunately weather doesnt do what we want.
Muzz and Fazio had already got some laps in before the rain, so we set up camp. Rain or not we had to have a go, so suited up and drew up some courage. Anthony debuted his DRZ to TT, we did about 10 mins of slow and confidence building laps and i had a go on the drz. I only managed about 2 or 3 laps before i lost the front, i christened the lefthand side of the bike, broken indicator and shortened clutch lever  Couple fellas turned up with a berg in the back of their ute just before i went down, i must have scared them off as they went on the gokarts instead  . Not to be outdone, but our next session out Anthony christened the right side, shortened brake lever, broken indicator, hole in sidecover and broken spring on footpeg. We figured that maybe too much air in the tyre and let it down some which helped. That was enough for our nights excitement.
The rain bucketed down early morning,(and Melbourne has a water shortage  :? ) first light wasn't looking good but it started clearing by 7.30 so Anthony and i decided to go start drying the track at 8.00. ;) Anthony had another fall which he wasn't laughing about and slowed his pace. Track was drying nicely by 9.00 and the pace quickened with other riders arriving. Anthony and i had our fill of fun and the girls were getting bored so we headed off at lunchtime. Not quite our moneys worth, plus a few other issues, but it will be better next time.
I still managed to get some tyre screaming in and that's all i care about :D With a battle scarred drz i think Anthony will need to change his name from smoky to Captain Crash  Sorry i didn't get many pics, in the gallery now, hopefully others have lots, did get some video so will see if i can organize that sometime soon. Cheers fellas hope you had a good day, also was good to catch up with new & old members. 8)

had a ball thanx dave even leaving the track in pain lol i did say i was going to show you how to crash dave lol
wasn't going to let you take all the credit for the stacks the mighty drz is as hurt as the rider :D
oh by the way dave not all the girls were bored lol i was forced to stay for another hour after you left lol
some motard wheels for the drz would do great i may have a chance to keep it upright lol

Alex and I did about 10 minutes riding on Friday afternoon before it started to get too wet to ride IMO.
Dave and Anthony had arrived so we helped set up with them and then headed off ourselves.
This morning was a decent start with no real rain to speak of,
A light drop on the way over there from Justins.
A few already out and circulating along with Bear and the Surf Coast fellas setting up.
Unfortunately for one (Mark) he had an early departure from the days activities with a suspected fracture tibia / fibula and a ride in a van with lights and a siren,
For his effort in pain management he was awarded the monthly giveaway from Bike Mart in Ringwood
Wear them with pride,
Hope you mend soon mate.
Richie brought out the new 70 degree Husaberg 450 from Valley Force in Lilydale with his 550 wheelset fitted and started ripping around.
Later in the afternoon I was able to get myself aboard for a few laps and although only roughly dialed for SM by clicker adjustment after an offroad demo the night before,
It was fast.
It was smooth, very progressive in the power delivery and very ergonomically pleasing for motarding.
It changes direction very nicely, has no perceivable gyroscopic action from the crank as you shut the throttle mid corner either.
Was stable and light,
Punchy engine but also very user friendly in the way it puts it to the ground.
I was able to very quickly get a rythym on the bike and are confident it will be very competitive.
Shares many KTM components with the addition of some Husaberg unique fittings such as shock and fork valving.
18 - 20mm billet offset fork clamps, multi position fitment for handlebar clamps, polyethelene tank and airbox as well as much of the rear of the bike.
Makes a very light package and one that has a very unique weight distribution as well.
Nice frame package from the engineering point of view,
The engine is single oil lubricated instead of split and from the maintenance angle very easy to get to things.
The aircleaner under the seat again just slightly repositioned a bit further forward and covering the trumpet, ambient air sensor and a 42mm throttle body.
I like the bike no two ways about it.
The bike I rode today is a demonstration model available to be ridden through Richie or Andrew at Valley Force in Lilydale.
I would encourage anyone looking for a new bike either enduro or SM to at least have a closer look.
Ride one and you'll be sold too ;)
A good turnout today again despite the chance of foul weather.
Looking forward to another one and maybe without the level of discomfort I experienced today through back pain.
Thanks to RedBull for the refreshment and to Alex for organising it again.
Numerous pictures containing RedBull products to choose from this weekend Alex.

All digital cameras are like that unfortunately, unless you spend the big bucks and get a digital SLR, around the $1000 mark. I took a few with my crappy little Kodak digital which I'll put up at some point. Got some good video, but I'm having computer issues atm and can't get the bloody thing to recognise the video camera

It wont sync if you leave the lens cap on.
Alternatively pull the flash card out and stick it in a card reader - I never use the cable that came with either of my digital cameras. File transfer seems a lot slower and if the camera battery dies while transferring you could corrupt the file. I have had this happen once with a digital SLR and it really pissed me off!
Unless you really want to connect your camera to your computer (no removable memory media or remote shooting) Don't worry about the camera drivers, I say the less unnecessary potentially buggy software on my computer the better.
Many modern laptops have card readers built in or a multi card reader is pretty cheap from any seller of compspewter stuff.

It's Mini DV tape, not memory card unfortunately. I'll get it sorted somehow. I got about 15 minutes worth and everyone riding there on the Saturday is on it. Just missed Marks crash though, just out of shot

Andrew hasnt had much of a chance of late and will no doubt join Richie and Matt next time in January if he's able.
