I was in Richmond the other day and dropped into KTM.
Was lucky enough to throw the leg over the new 950 supermoto (and twist the throttle and make varoooom noises).
All I could get out of the sales-bloke was "Due out in Feb, dunno how much".

It was on loan for a couple of days after the bike show.

I spoke to the guy at the motor show on the KTM stand and he said that you could jump it bet not very big (1metre) so to me it aint a motard!!
I can jump an R1 that big. That's not a motard to me!

Theres a video off IQFilms I think, of Phil Haupt giving one the acid.
It could even be on the Factory KTM site as a promo download that I saw it..
72kw @ 8000RPM
94nm @ 6500 RPM
5.50" rear and a 180 tyre
17 ltr tank
191 kg

Full specs on all the SMR range can be had at http://www.ktm.co.at/frameset.asp
so long as your OK with the foreign languages, gives you a nice couple of pictures though and the specs are the same in any language ..
Might even give you the translated page if you hold your tongue right.

I dont like it.
A worked LC4 would get my money.

I reckon I would have a whole different outlook towards Ducati if they had been a bit innovatitive and made something like this when they brought out the Monster range ...
Highland (Max Malmsburg) has had a motard twin with the Folan 1000 for a few years as a prototype and it took this long with everyone building streetfighters across Europe for years too,
For KTM to step up..

I understand what you're saying, but this thing
would put the "STREET" in VSMR.

I was just discussing with a mate last week whether or not the LC8 engine could be made to fit in my 640. Didn't realise this thing was coming out. Seems a bit heavy though. My Fireblade wieghs less than that and has twice the horsepower.

I'll have to take a trip down to the dealer for a test ride when it comes out though.

this is the LC8 coming from an Adventure model made by KMS Switzerlad.
Some people say it is not as good as the 950 SM as not born for supermotard.
Pure supermotarders say with such weight it will never be a real supermotard.
I heard also the comment of a guy who bought it and said it's just great in terms of sensations and drive-feeling, the bike makes power-wheelies very easily. But also this guy use to own a BMW 1100 GS....................

Anyway: 14.450 euro the 950 of KMS and 11.500 euro the 950 SM
