aprilia reveals 2 twins
Aprilia is to reveal two new twins at the Paris Bike Show – the RXV 450 enduro and the SXV supermoto.

Both bikes use the 450cc 77-degree V-twin the firm has been working on for the last two years. It is the first time the engines have seen the light of day in production bikes.

They make around 65bhp and more powerful 550cc versions are on their way.

They have alloy and steel trellis frames.

The SXV carries 180-section rear rubber (compared to the RXV’s 140-section). It gets a bigger front disc brake, too.

Expect to pay around £6400 for the supermoto and £6000 for the enduro. Both bikes were revealed in the September 28 issue of MCN - where you can read more details.

Keep checking back for more news as it happens direct from the Paris Bike Show. :D :D

65hp from the 450 and the 550 is yet to come

Don't do a direct conversion on the price in pounds - compare it against what comparable bikes sell for over there to get an idea of what the shipped cost should end up as...

List price on the husky sm450r in the UK is 5700 quid, so if the aprilia comes in at 6400 (~12% more) then that would roughly equate to around $14,500 in local currency based on the smr450 being about $13k local ... so there's a good chance it could come in around the same price as the bergers

Mmmmm, aprilia.... =P~

Sweet thanks Lorenzo... ;)
Is it Euro 6400 or GBP6400?
Converts to $14800 here for the GBP.
Sounds about right, add the duty, gotta come in around $15750 I reckon..

but what about the 180 rear tire on the 450 ,now that is sweet must be running a 6in rear

Muzzard

You will probably find it swingin' off a 5.50" I reckon by the pics Shane.
I have been known to be wrong though mate..
I have seen the odd VOR with 5.50" in the back fitted up with a 170/55 Dunlops.
I rode one just prior to the World Round here in 02.
Was so sticky in the rear the deceleration was astounding, but under power you could get it wallowing or just plain letting loose into power slides without much effort.

i know the world supermoto team runs from a 5in - 6in rears rims and 160-180 tires on theirs depending on the track

So if the 450 makes 65hp, its fair to say that the 550 should make something along the lines of 80hp then, going cube for cube? Assuming that's crank hp that should still work out to be around 70rwhp ... and that's without starting on any porting, exhaust, inlet work or cam regrinding.... :snigger:

here in italy, un-official voices say the sxv will cost around 10.000 euro

which on my currency converter means about 15.800 Australian Dollars

180 rear seems more for the bling factor than anything else. I run a 180 on my race bike, it's pumping ~100 rear wheel HP and I need to be extremely gumby-like to break traction with that. An amazing looking bike though (the aprilia, not my gaffa tape inspired R6). :)

"we have wood"

Is that real or a photochop of the rsv wheels on the svx? If its not, then how the hell are you supposed to brake without throwing yourself over the highside with that twin disc setup!

Edit: yep, its a photochop - you can see the different background behind the bike vs the wheels ... but a set of those marchesinis on it would look sensational

Recon they will put a warranty on it?

Wobbly
30-09-2005, 08:24 PM
I reckon - aprilia have been pretty good with their warranty in the past, and they're talking about having the lowest engine maintenance requirements in the motard/offroad bike segment, so I'm hoping they'll be offering a 24 month warranty

Muzzard
30-09-2005, 08:28 PM
You already got one,
You just haven't got the optional Renthals and underseat pipes...

So do the Yamaha's but I don't see a 2 year warranty on them! And be fucked if you'd ever see a warranty on a Honda like that. Long live the Husky's.
Gotta love a manufacturer that will support it's customers and it's product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dicky
30-09-2005, 11:08 PM
maybe they know that their customers don't actually ride the bikes?
