I just got settled on talons and excels for my DR-Z and was finalising my prices ready to order later this week ... and what do i spy but marchesini make a forged aluminium wheel specifically for motards (oh and pete has just what i wanted for sale on here)

http://www.marchesiniwheels.com/ENG/Supermotard/

i reckon it looks awesome, it comes in pretty colours, claims a bunch of mass, rigidity and other advantages and appears to retail for about the same ballpark price as talon / excel set (looks like a little over $2k for the set)

so this has got me all confused again ... what do you guys reckon ... anyone have any experience with them (failing that the usual opinions will be fine )

help ,,, anyone? ?

Hi Kimo, Welcome...
(From McNews I presume ;) )
Mate,
My understanding of those extremely nice looking and no doubt performing wheels is that price is either the Euro dollar price,
Or each in Aussie bucks.
I do know they were last year around double the price of the Talon/Excell sets from JTR which would sort of ring true in either case too..

Stick with your Talon/Excells mate, Make Cal jealous :D .

hi muzzard ... yes ... bad form on introducing myself ... sorry ... see post in general chat.

the price thing is interesting as according to the current internet currency concersions the wheels can be had for about $2200 ... which is in the same ballpark as the talon / excel combination ... will investigate further today :)

Run about $1800 AUD + shipping, no idea what that would cost. Also I don't know of anyone here stocking them for the DRZ-S. I know we could order 'em but that may take up to 6 weeks for delivery from Italy.

I've a set on my CRF450R and I've fallen in love with them. No tubes, no spokes, light as can be. They're pretty popular at the track. So far no issues whatsoever other than the standard pain of mounting a 5" rim.

They can be ordered in blue or black as far as i know - but they can be anodized virtually any color.

Hi Tek,
Mate you say about the standard dilemmas of fitting up 5.00" rims,
Could you elaborate for those considering a purchase of these wheels so to be best informed by someone who has in fact got the wheels fitted to a bike here.
Many blokes have steered away from mags and mag conversions for chain problems, brake and sprocket problems and the strength argument,
Did your wheel fit straight in from Marchesini for the CRF without clearance problems? Was it CRF specific?
