Yeah the buggers , some other fella turned up claiming he has 215 registered with MA , and cause I only have home made numbers (Steve)
I had to take 1 of them off & the 5 on the front was a bit scuffed  .

Oh , and the reason I was 2nd on the grid is order of entries for first race , we dont have lap timers....

Hey Muzz , I am looking at a race calender for the year for our club
at the moment , there are 15 meets for the year. But that includes other bikes too , we have about 8 or 9 classes now that ride on the track.
Everything from Junior Corporate Challenge to an unlimited Female class,
and everything in between.
We have an Interclub pointscore with Mareeba as well.
We get the numbers for the racing , and thats probably the bottom line.
As most of you know the further north you go the more spread out the towns/ cities are , so its nothing for us to travel 4 hours to race , I will be racing at Ipswich next year & thats about 10 hours away.
The club obviously puts a lot of faith in people turning up , but they always get a good turnup , we had nearly 70 entries last weekend.
We are lucky up here , no doubt about that , and the Townsville club
always put on a good day , good management & organisational skills.
I can understand your frustration Muzz , it must be difficult for you guys down there , but I have seen posts of upcoming events , everyone says they will turn up.... and then 1 by 1 they for whatever the reason pull out.
And you seem to get the same 4 or 5 people go.
Not sure what the answer is... maybe just move up to sunny North QLD.
;)

Thats on the cards mate.
Not too much keeping me in Wangaratta.
My kids are all but grown up and I had given some thought to a move back into the agricultural areas of South Australia and look for work in Adelaide surrounds,
But hell Queensland I could ride my bike every day and get a track day / race every second weekend :?

Yeah I'm frustrated Julian for sure,
Its the same blokes as you say thats good all the same too.
I just wish there was a bit more want it the blokes here to actually come and ride the bikes at the track I worked so hard to get access to for us.

I have another plan on the drawing board and it also means a trip to Melbourne for me to ride if it comes to being.
I have an idea to do something here with the Governments assistance,
Just needs a good powerpoint presentation to the right Government department after a shitload more research.
It hangs on us becoming affiliated and registered under the Associations Act and with MA and then being able to run the Club / Track use under a grant identified for new sport initially.
This track has been identified because of the unique nature of the surrounds and the site that it sits in is zoned appropriately to encompass the motorcycle noise and regulations surrounding racing or track use generally.
It is Government owned and I have a good foot inside the door at the moment waiting for the regulatory process for us as a Club to take place.
Once that takes place we are well on the way to a home for Supermoto in Victoria.

http://vsmr.net/albums/bitsnbobs/Werribee_Track_Proposal.sized.jpg

But like you say and I agree JD theres the blokes who always say they will come and dont or have to pull out at the last minute,
I'm one of them lately,
But all the same I would be really sticking my neck out to front this and get it going here with any sort of hope for a future.
If correctly structured now ...

Should we become a National Club base there is at least one of these facilities in every State ;)

There has been talk of a track being built in Proserpine , been in the pipeline for a few years now , which is only an hour away for us.
That would be the ultimate , spoke to a few of the organising committee
for it on Saturday and they are at the stage now where they need a
committment from people who are going to be prepared to put the hard yards in , they seem to be in the same boat , they have a lot of people who say they are going to help but they never turn up at the meetings,
and once again its been left up to the few die hards who seem to be doing all the work.
So hopefully with a bit of luck , and a lot of hard work we can get our own track built , they are still dealing with the Council at the moment , so I guess even if it all works out , it will still be years away from racing on it.

I know your frustration Muzz!

I never knew why people pulled out of stuff all the time either! Up until the last few years that is! I've had a lot of financial commitments that have made riding transport not pleasure! I haven't been for a fun ride since the last track day in March 07!! Not even in the hills! Believe me if I could have raced I would have!
I hope to be able to make plans to have a go at racing something next year but again I'll see how I go!

The next meeting is on the 30th August
http://www.townsvillemcc.net/For%20Download/2008/RR%20Stuff/08%20Approved%20RND%203.pdf

We had 21 nominations for the motard class, both Ross Taylor & Jarrod Koppe were not there.
If we get 24 noms for the next meet the club will split the classes

I was planing to race next year. The option was to join the Preston mc and race in the supermono class. But if a motard series starts up I'd much rather hand over $ here and join you guys.
I have not been able to ride with vsmr much (except for a few at broady) as my bike has spent most of it's life on the stand with the engine being rebuilt.
Also, being from the Ballarat area and working 2 w'ends on and 2 off, it's a fair effort to get out to TT, but I will be a regular, especially the overnighters. I was a very active member of a sportsbike club so tranfering that to here is my intentions.

Muz, is that the driver education track at the Hoppers Crossing Uni?
