Yeah, Yeah,
Its not a motard, but carted one around long enough, and owing to the extra yellow sticker on the windscreen coupled to my inherent hatred for cars and all 4 wheeled vehicles (except methanol monster trucks of course 8) ) the Mitsubishi is looking to become someones woodshed that they take to get the wood with, (no double-handling  ) or something along those lines.
It needs a windscreen and 4 tyres at a minimum for RWC and has a near new 98 Colt engine fitted, but a few odd dents being a plasters van before I got it. Also fitted with 'Bull lights', CD player and CB radio.
Has been always a reliable van and with only Tania and I usually going most places, Tania would like to look at something small car orientated and with the current price of gas, that might be a wise move too..

A few hundred dollars will take it away.
Its parked in the background in the pictures in the Mini Album, titled Shed-Nannigans.

Couple hundred eh? :-k

Anyone like to swap a magna wagon for a 76 SS torana hatchback with a 308 in it in nice nick? ;)

OK, Maybe not the Mini album after all.

I am looking for an LC/LJ body in reasonable condition for another track car but this time, motard for cars, DRIFTING...
I know I said I hate 'em but maybe a drift car like a 308/350 powered LC/LJ might be cool. 8)
Holdens are easier to fit and I have some knowledge of them, Haven't we Hillbilly, Rastus?
(Some trivia for the site),
Hillybilly has owned some beautiful cars over the 25 years I have known him, many Toranas have seen his touch, some quick 6 cylinder cars and some stove friggin HOT V8's and a really, really nice 350HP Holden powered Mazda he built entirely himself.
A real headturner with its quad IDA Weber downdrafts in the scoop!
Many many hours have been spent between his garage and my Grandads shed putting the loving touches into some of his cars.

Rastus has also had some neat street cars and certainly a love affair with FJ/FX utes ('Humpy's) with a couple of nice ones over the years including a blood red one fitted with a 308 back in 1982/3, Followed by a one-tonner of hand build too.
Rastus has also been bitten by the speedboat bug, well both of them really, Hillbilly had a Matra Bullet/Missile? eggbeater, but Rastus' Seacrafts were very special boats too.
One very, very, fast 6 cylinder stroker Holden and another 350 Chevrolet powered one too.
Rastus' 6 cylinder was clocked at a race meeting and was considered one of the countries fastest 6 cylinder (by capacity) boats for its build class.

Chances are I will be picking Hillbillies vast wealth of knowledge in Toranas, reference to the drift car...
He always wanted a 76 SS V8 too. ;)

Muzz....
Phil has one feckin sweet Torana 380 stroker all alloy. good for 500hp
He wants to turbo it, its a genuine slr5000 8) offers are welcome

It done a low 11 1/4 mile on standard tyres

I will have a look at the van when we fit the tyres up!

Sooner or later Hillbilly will see this, ring Rastus, and they'll be having something to say about that.
I dont doubt what you say, just that drag racing is also familiar to both of them, with most of the cars built between them over the years finding their way down towards the end of Calders main straight.
Hillbillie is currently working on another 4 wheeled project/s, also chasing the big HP numbers but to a budget now we are all old encumbered farts ;) ...
You know when we ride past kids they all want to see a mono,
Well I wanna see Phil's Torana spit a tyre or 2... :supz:

Drags are boring no doubt!

Phil the prick wont come round and do this old kwaka top end with me :(
He just binned his VR SS and is busy banging it back into shape.

I will let ya know when he is finished with the motor, Currently fitting late model SS brakes and still sourcing a gen3 6 speed.

I am yet to hear it go or even sit in it some of its here some of its in yarra vally.

His old vl turbo plated DRIFT6 was a tyre eating beast!!!

Bring the top end over and throw it on the bench mate...

I reckon drifting will be damn good fun and a VL turbo would also fit the bill nicely, but I can build a cheap Torana that will give ya turbo Nippa a good run.
Doesnt have to be pretty does it?
I thought maybe black and white eh?

Can't say the new stuff does much for me. I mean, I'm sure its all good, but cars to me are more about just being either transport or geared toward stupidity. My last interesting car was a 76 SS 308 which didn't brake, didn't steer, didn't do much at all really, but was a good laugh with decent go and a great sounding twin system on it. Would quite like another one :)

Yeah, I've never been one for the newer models like after HJ vintage,
1. Because I've been married before and accordingly not like to have money until after my youngest turns 16 at least, thanks to our illustrious Child Support Agency.
2. I am the utilitarian model human, I'm not here for the launch of the friggin' Sportsgirl Summer range, and the bling on 4 wheels is not really bling  ...
3 Cars are basically for window lickers, but How can you say such blasphemy about such an Australian Motoring Icon like an SS.
Your beer fridge should stop so you sober up mate.

Problem with drift is you do need a better handling car and you can't get a 2 way locking LSD for a torana!!
Go to a drift meeting and see how many V8's do well, not many if any!!
You can try but you'll be wasting money as it's not all about power. If you want to do it on the cheap a Toyota Sprinter will hold a big slide with a lot of lock but it's hard to get a reasonable amount of power to "bolt in". You could look at a hr31 (pre gtr) and bolt in an rb, 20det 25det 26dett or even the old30det. there is a lot of silvias and 180sx's because you can set them up to hold big lock slides and there are also very nimble to flick them the other way quick. Torana's want be anywere quick enough to change direction to compete.
You can always try but............ well it's your money ralph!!

Obviously not too much time in the older Toranas fitted with V8's Ash...
They are extremely nimble and going back some years before the Jappas came on here,
Everyone raced them in Rally because of the power/nimble handling nature.
Like I said I can put together a budget Torana that will smoke the friggin' tyres all the way down the straight  , then it becomes a throttle and car control argument.
Yeah,
I can see the CAPA ute and now SV sedan are real quick turners, with no advantage with horsepower...
And they steer so much like a Toyota Sprinter, Nissan Silvia, SX180/200 too.
Friggin' whales, They couldn't hold a lock slide..

Bullshit Ash!

Having spent some time playing with circuit cars during the 80's, and in particular a A9X with huge HP owned by a mate in Wagga, The vehicle in question was always a front runner in not only sprints, sports sedan and hillclimb, but also the gymkhanas we attended with it.
Also a regular attender at the Nats for the driving events given the car was so versatile, I reckon he would have had the car to Oran Park already for some drift fun ..

Good luck but you have been warned!! (just get a s13 sivia and actually be competitive)
You said torana's are nimble compared to what an XA falcon coupe?
Oh yeah how many drift events to V8's win?? :D
Go prove me wrong

Correct me if I am wrong but isnt Robbie Bolger & the CAPA ute the '04 Drift Australia Champions? :-k

Wait til Hillbilly sees this slangin' at Torana handling, He will have things to do to you with a hot 3" SuperTrapp I think..
