Anyone got any slidey stuff I can use or get from somewhere to act as a slider for a new and improved chain slider? I figured a extruded 90 degree L bracket made from ally with some slidey type of material screwed into it should do the trick.

On a completely different note, I decided to change my chain and sprockets this weekend. Thinking maybe I could have got another couple of thousand k's out of the sprocket... ;)

Go down to your local reject shop and buy a chopping board from PTFE material and cut a length of angle alloy/iron, and line the 2 running edges with it by countersunk 1/8" whitworth allen bolts.

Did you look at an XR650 runner for the swingarm pivot?
Azraz' bike has one fitted to it, The one at GPTC outside the workshop 2 weeks ago.

I could almost gullet that sprocket and fit 'er up to my firewood sawbench.

I can get you some uhmwp which is slippery shit, not even glue will stick to it!!! I could get a strip of it and machine a deep grove in it for the chain. It's the same material that I use to make the sliders out of.

Haven't priced out a XR one yet mate, but will do when I get some spare time ... I just had a bit of angle ally in the shed that looked like it would fit the bill already too. The slider that guides the chain on to the rear sprocket cost $60 to replace so I'm just thinking of something cheap n cheerful ;) Good idea about the chopping board though!

Ash - just a flat piece 70x55x5 would likely do the trick
