Looks like rain for Sunday.

I may take a punt and get some wets in.

Will we do dirt in the wet???

Don't say that. My forecast says 20% chance of rain. It will change 3 times before sunday anyway.

I don't know if they run the dirt in the rain but they would if it was only showers I think.

Hey guys,
They won't have the dirt if it is wet. Too much cleaning up and the cart guys don't like it.
Jovin,
I will have my tyre groover with me at the weekend if you want to make your own wets.
See you Sunday

QLD state champs - Round 2 report

Looked like it might have been a wet day but got there and it wasn't raining and ended up drying up although the track was a bit cold and slick for the rest of the day.

This was my second supermoto race out there and I was keen to try out my forks that had been valved/sprung on the dirt. They didn't run the dirt because it was too wet so that was a bit of a bummer.

I stepped it up to the S1 class this time to run with the 'big boys'. They were taking grid positions from the first round so I lined up on the 3rd row at the back of the pack.
I was running 4th or 5th for 2 laps then coming into turn one the front just washed out without warning, so that left me in a shitty clay mess on the side of the track  Got back up and kept racing and someone else when off the track then a little later Gordon went down a few turns ahead so I am not 100% sure what I finished but I think it was 7th, I was a full lap down after my crash so in reality I got last but I made it across the line.

Second race didn't get a very good start and didn't really have any good racing I think I finshed second last that one. I was not feeling very good on the bike for some reason and was a bit disapointed I wasn't going as good as I was the other practice night... at least I didn't feel like it but maybe it was just because I was racing S1 this time where there were some quicker blokes.

Lowered the tyre pressures a bit more and next race and was not so bad. I can't remember what I finshed that race but it wasn't up the front !!

I had some new front pads in for this weekend, they were a cheaper set than the aprilia pads I was running and I found they were just crap and had no 'bite' and were fading only after a few laps. So for the last race Gordon came up with an old set of pads he had (thanks mate) which were on their last legs but would do for one race. They turned out better than what I had in there so that was good.
I picked up the pace a bit this race and was right behind Gordon from the start and for a few laps was right on his rear but couldn't get passed until he spun up the rear and put it down in front of me. We were so close that I couldn't avoid it and hit Gordon. He is OK. We were running 4th and 5th then but a couple of blokes got passed after that and I ended up finishing 5th anyway.

Got 6th overall for the round missed out on 5th by one point
Was pretty happy with that for my first S1 race and I did feel slow and not really into it so hopefully I will do better next time.

I am not sure how Jovian went in C grade but I know Gordon did real good in the Vets class taking away at least one race win and he did good also in S1.

After racing Steve, Jov and myself hit the pub for a few beers which turned into a few more than that haha and generally just talked about crap for ages (at least I did).

So turned out to be a good weekend.

well yeah it was a good weekend, never really got into the zone and rode around at the back. just struggled for no real reason.

had new boots which kept gettin caught on the bike. at one point they ripped out the catch lines which sprayed crap all over me tyre and i stacked it. i think i was doing okay in that race. i spewed in my mouth during one race. No good results but riding is always fun.

Had a good nite on the beers, and now Jo has deowned all his other mates hahahaha

run a spell check on that post DEVO, fix up wat u can.

Did you have a big night the night before Jov? :D

Nice report Joe. Sounds like you might have knocked some sense into Gordon too. He got the fark out there next race and kicked ass! Well done Maico!

Well I finally did it. I beat Coxy fair and square in a race. I have been trying to catch him for around 5 years and I finally did it. Got the hole shot in race 2 (Aprilia power) and rode around waiting for all the riders to come past but I am glad to say it never happened. Dropped it twice in the S1 class but still managed to remount and finish. I think I got a 4th and a 5th in the other 2. Good day all round. Roll on Victoria in 4 weeks.
Catch up with you all then and have a beer or 2.
Thanks Joe for not hitting me too hard.
