Hey LC4 owners,

This is sofa king easy it's not funny.

The unit itself has KTM connectors on the back for the speedo sensor and the power supply so that in itself is self explanatory. Just rip your old Enduro dash out and plug both connectors in.

The best way to do the tacho is just take a jumper off the coil lead for the positive connection and make sure you earth the black connector to one of the bolts that holds the coil to the frame with an 'O style' crimp connector. I'd heatshrink the positive jumped connector so it doesn't earth out on the frame or another metal earthed part of the bike.

The H20 sensor is best fitted to the tube heading up from the thermostat on the RHS of the engine to under the tank. All in the instructions of course.

Piss easy. I have not fitted it yet but I have perused the instructions and ripped the old speedo off my bike and have the new unit in place.

The only thing is keeping the ignition lock on the SMC in the right place, you will just have to attack the idiot lights bracket with a hacksaw if you are also installing the indicator dash (Matt!).

If you want to replace your stock speedo but retain your KM's and engine hours please PM me for instructions on how to program in this info. I have the details but they are not to be posted on the forum. This excellent info is courtesy of Az aka (Grimas). Thanks Aaron. :)

Pics to follow in the morning.

Cheers,

Juz.

Edit: Read post 7 as this is not entirely correct and as I first suspected.

Hmmm, the connectors are different on the SMC loom to the LC4 kit I got, out comes the soldering iron and the shrink wrap. Nevermind... All is good.

I have read it's best to connect the unit direct to the bike battery as opposed to a switched ignition input or you may lose some of your settings.

I found the details for setting your ODO and Engine Hours (ART) on ADV Rider so I guess it's public domain so I will post it here:

There is an undocumented feature to change the total mileage and total run time -
Defined sequence is entry of a secret factory factory code into the wheel size setting (9110); then user presses right button for 3 seconds to enter the first programming mode. To show that the computer is in the programming mode, the clock feature will flash. Then user can the press center button to get to the ODO and ART data, and enter the desired number. The computer will stay in this programming mode until the reset button on the back of the computer is pressed. Please note that user must the change wheel size setting back to primary WS for their machine.
I found that I did not need to use the reset button to exit this programming mode, it would exit automatically once I had cycled through all the available parameters.

Ok, Just fitted it up the Vapor.

You can't use the existing 'Enduro' speedo/ODO connectors (On the SMC) as I first suspected and was told by the guy I got the units off.

1. Power - Best way is straight off the battery terminals, or as I have done Positive to + battery terminal and negative to ground wire from loom just forward of battery on the RHS of the frame. I read on ADVRider that if you hook it into your ignition you sometime lose your trip meter & max reading settings when you turn the bike off. The unit will power down to just the clock and turns off the backlighting after 20 mins. I suspect it draws SFA current anyway.

2. Tacho - Positive jumped off wire to coil, negative to leading bolt on coil body. (Earth).

3. Water Temperature Sensor - In hose above thermostat on RHS of engine upwards, you do not need to drain the radiator, just have a bucket ready when you take the hose off the top of the thermostat housing, do it this way as only a 100 ml or so of water comes out and you do not need to drain the radiators. I cut a bit out of the hose the size of the sensor adaptor to compensate for the sensor body size and not to distort the hose.

4. Wheel Speed Magnet Sensor - You need to use the trailtech magnet sensor wire unless you want to go and graft wires from the original loom, so I am just about to swap them over.

I have it all mocked up at the moment, when I have finished and cleaned up the installation and am ready to go I will post up some pictures. Similar to the install pics Doogs put up for his Zook.

Cheers,
Juz.

lol, and I am Gus the Steamshovel!

This is not as easy as first anticipated on an SMC with an indicator dash.

I have to relocate the ignition switch and am now suffering from CBF as I have been working on it since about 8am. :?

Thank fuck I have a dremel. :)

Only temporarily, nothing stopping me riding it except my blood alcohol content. ;)

I can always zip tie the ignition switch to something in the meantime, I'll figure something out tomorrow when I'm taking the pictures for Mr Blackboard....

Blood alcohol and riding aren't a problem as long as there is a pool near by! Don't have to much fun!
