After installing a oversized piston and having the cylinder bored out 3mm , so we could race the S1 class we were getting 62hp at the back wheel. On the track the bike was unbelivable I have never riden any thing like it. Then it went BANG. Shit.
The bottom of the cylinder skirt had broken away and stuffed it pretty quick. just a note dont bore out a CRF it just cant take it (wish it could though).
After about 50 phone calls around Australia and to the states it has been decided to leave it as a 450 now and not risk another incident.
This happened Saturday morning and by Sunday night the engine had been removed, cases split, all the shit cleaned out and every thing checked , reassembled and installed back in the bike. The only thing left to do is install the cylinder(when it turns up) and head so about an 1 hours work and were good to go again. So the Australian championships are still looking good.
