just got them sent to me, closing date for entries 28th May, late entries not accepted. Takes the cake really, in 04 we got entries a month before closing, this year 8 days. I imagine they'll have to knock back a few cos grids will be chockers. Hope they get a few locals and obviously a few from the west (1 or 2). I'll guess 15 from NSW and 1 between Vic/Tas/Sa/NT.
Who will be that 1 ?
Would have made more sense to have a one off meeting like long track / dirt track / jnr MX etc etc.
With a few months notice & decent prize money--3 day event, any of these tracks would have been feasible.
Look for all our wheels / brakes etc for sale very soon
i think C Grade will be packed out thats for sure..
Who's in and which class??? I think i will enter and be in C'Grade.
I don't know about the politics, I'm pretty sure our club up here is doing the best they can with MA.
Club-X and S1 for me Jov.
i think there is only S1,2 & 3 or C grade with possbility of a C novice
S1 and C then, see how the field pans out.

I understand that!!!
I'm thinking of having a go. Who is doing the other rounds?
Does anyone know if you have to choose the other rounds and pay for them now, at the top of the supp regs it has a choice of what rounds??
Off topic but... good last race on the weekend Devo, I think that was you behind me? I saw your front wheel once or twice in the last few laps of the last race and thought I better pick up the pace. I didn't do the second race, but the last one I borrowed a 16T front sprocket and it made a big difference.
Photos should be up tonight or tomorrow so I hear.
Nah, you just enter/pay for one round at a time if you want.
Yeah mate that was me. It was surging badly at anything but full throttle so I was trying to stuff it in under brakes. I ended up thinking better of it, you had a fair bit of corner speed. :D I'll bring the video of that race out to Ipswich on cd this weekend if you like.
Yeah mate that would be good.
I will see you out there.

If C grade will be packed, maybe they can put the blokes cutting times similar to A grade into A grade or B grade and leave C grade to blokes that are of a C grade level.
Looking fwd to the racing and catching up with all you interstate people.

Ok I'm in for round 2 only, Mildura.
What license will i need for entering 1 round only? Is a single event license available?
I know I've got to be a member of a bike club too, who are the rest of you Victorians members of?

If its a national race, you need a full year lic. If its club race, then you can get a one meet lic.
I'm a member of the Harley club (cheapest), although Hartwell might be a better option, so you can do their inter-club road race meets.
If I can I'll catch a lift up with you dude!

X2. Quite a few A-graders happened to find themselves in C-grade novice out at Calder. I think there was a provison about having not raced motard for the past 12-months entitles you to go in Novice again :?
Definately wont be at this one, and only a possible maybe for the Mildura grid at this stage :(

:? No A-graders up the front in novice at Calder. Or B-graders. I think I was as close as it got to non-novice having done one race in the Qld Champs previously. A few guys had done moto mayhem too i think.
Club-X maybe? I don't know.

They were listed down as C grade cause that's what they entered, but were posting A-grade times on what looked like sponsored bikes. Could have been under Clubman X actually, as I think we were all put in together from memory. Cant remember names as I didn't take much notice as it didn't really worry me but I was talking to a few guys around the pits and heard that a couple were previously A-grade. One posted better times on a 250F than Adam Altham did on his 42hp YZ250F  :?

Some might say that notifying people of the dates 2 weeks prior to the first round was a good example of not pulling the finger out? :D :P
Good luck to the first round participants, wish I was there.
lol as Devo said previously - there were some politics.

I'm Joe, but still keep an eye out for my entry it probably is the only one in an express post envelope :D and I will be at the practice. Will the dirt be open?
Entries aren't spectacular yet - however hoping that its due to the late notice of the event and will just get a heap of late ones. Entries don't close till tomorrow so shall see.
lol sorry Joe, :) Introduce yourself next time at practise. I don't think dirt will be open at practise; I'll have a chat to fuj -
Just checking you guys realise its a 2 day race meet, with practise, qualifying and first race on Saturday.
wrist was actually quite good. devo gave me a pep talk so i may have to enter now

If you want to borrow some wheels for the weekend you're welcome to. Some near new slicks for $250 and you're good to go.

Rob - Sounds like a good chance for you to get some practice on the track.
I've been told late entries will be accepted .
they probably have to to get numbers up
i won't be entering
I think you have to enter too.
Where is everyone pitting, we should all try get the same area eh?
I have a gen that can run 2 sets of warmers as well if anyone needs some power.
I hope to have a few little mods done by then too 8)
Well not really spectacular mods but I am going to try the 08 VDB dual maps and the asymmetric throttle link to see how it goes. Mainly I want to see if there is a significant difference in the dual maps because I don't think the standard dual maps on the 08 did much at all.

Can't see that happening Jov.
What are you riding in jp?
I'm entered in clubman. Does anyone know if there is going to be a tyre service available?
yeah bridgy's will be available at the track
Cool, what did you enter?
How early is early? I will probably get there at 6:30.
The gates would be open then wouldn't they?
I just want to know where everyone would like to pit and if I'm there first I will set up.

With all this coin being put into your racing efforts don't ever be shy in throwing the odd donation, no matter how small it may be, towards Neil and/or Muzz for giving you this place to communicate together either....
Just a thought to keep in mind. :)
Good luck with the racing.

i will be quite happy to juz, as i have mentioned many times before. when the boys sort the financial memberships i will be first to pay regardless of whether i take advantage of the offers.
So who's in and what class?
Jovian - C Grade/Novice
Mato - C grade/Novice
Cool at least I will be racing with you blokes.
Front right of the pits it is. Is that where I was parked on Sat practice? I'll try get further towards the track and more to the right.
Jovian - C Grade/Novice
Mato - C Grade/Novice
Joe - C Grade/Novice

G'day,
Does anyone know why the Vets class is not a championship class and is only a support class?
Cheers
discobob
01-06-2008, 03:09 PM
Because a vet can enter S1,S2 or S3. Which are championship classes. Vets, clubman etc are suposed to be for fun and for the not so serious guys, not trophy hunters.
Entry list is posted up at motorcycle sportsmen site. Looks like clubman to be the biggest class.
it is being split into a novice class. have a look on the timetable.
practice, 2 qual & a race on saturday!!! awesome
It may be split into two classes. If you look at the supp regs it will be split into two classes based on times. The fastest in clubmen, the slower half in novice.
Good luck to all competitors. Wish I could be there, sounds like being a great weekend.

hi guys!
just wondering how much a race like this would cost for a racer...
entry + tyres + fuel + maintenance + etc? (except the transport to the venue)...
where is the exact venue? I would love to be there... to watch :D
(too bad, no money, no motard and no skills :( ...yet!
depends on ur budget really mate and the condition of ur bike b4 the race for example for this race i had to get my leathers fixed, get brakes fixed, new handlebars, buy some new tools, petrol and entry. thankfully i had new tyres on already.
i am pumped for the weekend!

Looking goods guys!
Hey Jov you look like your flying!
How good was the weekend ! haha bloody great.
We pitted up next to the Aprilia truck and had 7 Aprilias total. I think jovian felt a bit left out but he was happy he wasn't pulling apart his bike like everyone else
There was a big class of C grade, 26 or 27 I think that was going to get split into a C and a novice.
I was a bit nervous about going out because I had not even seen the dirt section and it was my first supermoto race. For practice the track was a bit wet but I left slicks on because I didn't have wets anyway and went for a cruise around sliding everywhere. :D
Anyway, by the end of qual I ended up qualifying 8th overall so was pretty happy with that and got put into C grade where there were 14 riders I think.
First race myself and Devo got the pit gate about 10 seconds late and they wouldn't let us out so we had to grid from the rear which sucked.
I though I would just make it back up in the start and held it open to the first corner where everyone managed to slow right down and I hit someone and took them out and I think Steve ran over them :? .
Steve got passed me a few laps in then he got a bit tired from doing the S1 class before and I got passed him for a 10th.
Next race was on Sunday and finished 6th in that one.
3rd race: Running 5th and lost the front going onto the road, got back up and I lost 2 spots and finished 7th.
Last race: Started OK, got through turn 1 and in turn 2 there were a few bikes in my way  . I slid it into one to try not T bone him but highsided when I hit the bike which left me to get the bike started and I was running last which is where I finished.
I did run a 1.07 in there somewhere which I was pretty happy with for my first supermoto run. There was some quick blokes in C and by the looks of the times I probably would have done better in S1 hahaha. I think Steve went OK in S1 as well but he had an off. Hope your OK mate.
That's my report. I will leave the other stuff up to the others because that is all I really know
Well first off, it was great to get more time on the bike. My honda was great all weekend, never had to touch it at all except very basics. As Jo said it was cool not to have to pull my bike apart between every race.
First day it was wet and cold till last qualifying so i was slow so i started on the grid 12th or something in novice. I got a good start and moved up some places in race one but the top 7 guys were to quick for me. settled in a battle with some guys at the back and had a great battle for 10th hahaha. it was great fun and even though we were battling for 10th it was the best fun and when i got him was so stoked!!! Racing someone is unreal and in the process my lap time improved so it was a great first day.
Second day wasn't so good. First race my arms and wrists totally gave out after 2 laps i was gone and riding really slow and dangerously. I was rooted so i skipped the next race and saved my energy for longer last race.
Race three was okay i had some battles but ultimately i didn't ride very well and my arms and wrists just gave out. Made some passes in the dirt which was great but let my self down in key corners and failed to hold positions i made in the dirt.
Overall it was good. Bike was great with some great races and some good battles. i rode the dirt well except for one bad jump. i new goin in i was underdone with only one ride since i got my cast off. I expected to be at the back and there was some guys on my pace which was cool. I learnt i need to attack the corners more and get my corner speed up. I have ridin quicker but i times i forgot the fundamentals of tard riding which made me slow.
Great fun, but hopefully next time i improve!!!
P.S. no matter how fast or slow u r, riding on a full SM track is the best thing u can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also good to meet dan aka tambi, hope the action inspires u to get the bike sorted!
Yes well, what a weekend.
I wasn't quite on the pace I was hoping for, but qualified well enough to have a decent crack at s1. I got a good start in Race 1 on the Saturday, made up a couple of spots and held 5th till the end.
Race 2 on sunday was a mixed bag. I got an ordinary start luckily, as Ross Taylor threw himself over the bars coming into turn 2 and caused a bit of a commotion. Another bloke on a TM660 got throttle happy seeing the gap and ran wide. I took a few spots and threw it into turn 3 only to have the TM660 massively overshoot the corner and T-bone me taking us both down. The race was red flagged, but for a moment there I was in 3rd and might've been able to hold it. :D
Restart for race 2 was mostly uneventful. We settled in after a few laps (me in 4th or 5th I think), and whilst I was gapping the 660 in spots on the tarmac he was making it back easily in other places. He showed me a wheel coming over the table top a few laps in a row but was landing messily and I'd out drive him down the straight. I think it was getting to me though, as I finally pushed to hard over the last ski jump and locked the front on landing, trying to setup for the flat turn back onto the bitumen. All over for me.
Just got back from the hospital an hour ago but it should all be good. Broken finger, fractures in my eye socket and cheek, pissing blood and coughing a bit up, and a bit of bruising in my guts. I honestly feel better than after most of my other crashes, but need to get my face operated on tomorrow as I am seeing double if I look to the right.
I'm not disappointed though, it was a good fun couple of races and I'll be back in 6 weeks. :D Will miss the Qld champs though unfortunately :(

Finally get my chance to post something up about the weekend.
Finished the weekend with 3rd, 3rd, 4th & 4th with 1 get off on qualifying on Saturday. Actually led 1 race for a few laps, but didn't know what to do as I have never been there before. Just couldn't keep the pace up (I'm getting old). Had a good weekend, apart from seeing Devo getting taken away in an ambulance. It will be great to see him racing again in a few weeks. Good to see you so keen to get back on the track again Steve.
Looking forward to meeting up with all you Victorian and South Australian guys on the 9th & 10th of August
