View Full Version : FMF Pipe?
I've been looking for an exhaust for my XR650R project and came across a "Honda XR650 XR FMF exhaust Powercore4 muffler" on ebay. I can get it posted from America for about $450Aus. Has anyone here had any experience with FMF pipes? and are they any good? Originally i was going to go with a Yoshimura for cost reasons, but this FMF sounds like a good deal.

Tom,
There are some cheaper mufflers here in Australia that work well on the XR range.
Gauldi make a cheaper alloy can and now also under the Higashi brand, which are shit hot units...
TK are making good pipes for them also.
FMF are expensive like most of the name brand units are.
Just found a white brothers e series on ebay for 0.99 pounds! got my bid in. . . what do you reckon my chances are that that bid will last 6 more days?

Not sure about on the big XR, but on the DRZ the only 3 exhausts that make more power than stock are the yoshi, muzzy and FMF. Coincidentally they're also the only 3 that have a tapered header design, which provides the increased scavanging that actually makes power rather than just more noise. I would check out whether the XR pipe does much the same thing.
Thumpertalk have a fairly active XR area and quite a bit of discussion around pipes and the like. They may be of use, but there's also a lot of white noise, especially around the XR part of it for some reason. Just avoid the 30000 threads on "why XR650R's are better than XR650L's" and "why XR650L's are better than XR650R's"

I am saying yoshi...
Only coz Neils sounds feckin great.
My pro circuit sounds shithot now it has no baffle I guess about 102-105db maybe more a bit loud but screw em.
It snaps crackles and pops :D
Which yoshi are we talking about? the round one or the triangle shaped one? neither of them come in a full system for an xr650, so i guess i'll have to get headers elsewhere.

You can get HRC big bore headers for the XR Tom, Not sure on price, but being Factory they work and are no doubt expensive.
I think they may even be Ti pipe...

Mine is a round (oval) stainless system, but full system (tip to toe). I'm amazed they don't make full systems for the XR as the XR header looks very restrictive, at least to my untrained eye :-k

Hey Neil do they make a shorter one, more like the modern MX bikes for the DRZ. This may suit your higher comp/hot piston setup now

They do a complete system in ti which I think runs a shorter primary and different bore which is designed to promote more top end power ... the only down side is that its a $1700 exhaust system

damn, thats pricy, but i guess if your do your research you will come out on top. keep posting and let up know how it ends
Ended up with a white brothers can on staintune headers. . . not great. too many joins so i'm getting air into the exhaust and backfiring.
Looking into and Akra system, but they're $1,400, or an arrow system. which i think costs even more.
