Super Motard and mini motard are welcome this Saturday. Gates open at 10am so pass the word around folks.

dicky
17-08-2005, 04:24 PM
What are the requirements for riding a full motard?
Catch tanks, sliders, full leathers?

dicky.

Wobbly
17-08-2005, 07:17 PM
Damn! Can't make it this saturday unfortunately, but hopefully some of you fellas will be able to make it out.

Braxton - what's the chance of organising a 'tard practice day for some way out, say maybe a month or 2? I think if we get the word out through some different forms of media we could get a decent turnout!

Muzzard

Leathers, and all the usual good bike preparation I would expect.
I am without transport again after the seperation of myself and EMS.
I am making every effort to locate transport and riders to attend from up here.
Bike is not going yet either so anybody wanna borrow my wheels to get a ride if I make it down?
I will try to get Sam and Rick to come down, Rick is doubtful with shop committments so I should fit my wheels to his new 05 450 and bring that!
(Over his dead body!)

Good opportunity to get in some practice if any of you are setting up for the Champs.

Sibbo

Muz! You gimmy wheels and I will crash at high speed! I mean....well you know :D

I am hughly keen to borrow some propper rims and have some traction.

Please please please.

First in best dressed Sibbo and you are first my man! :D
I still have the dilemmas of getting there myself yet, but should some wheels roll my way, I will bring the wheels, rotor, adapter and chain/sprocket for easy bolt up swap and you owe me a few laps...

Anyone got a fire extinguisher for the imminent disaster?

dicky
18-08-2005, 04:04 PM
No need for the fire extinguisher, it'll probably be pissing down rain.
I'm going regardless, whether I ride or not is yet to be seen.

dicky.

Whats the cost and does the GPTC have credit card facilities?

Azraz_Racing
18-08-2005, 05:57 PM
Its $25.00 for the whole day, and yes they can do credit cards.

Wobbly
18-08-2005, 07:31 PM
$25 is awesome value!!

Muzz - you can borrow the DRZ if you can get it there and back ... !

Muzzard

OK, Thanks to site sponsor, Wasons Motorcycles in Wangaratta, ;) I have the use of the shop van for the trip down...
Sibbo, Dont be late...

Jake, Are you working this weekend?
I have your mini in my shed saying ' Change my oil and put on those nice Heidenau racing tyres, ... Ride me, ... Go on Jake wont mind'

Wobbly
19-08-2005, 02:02 PM
Muzz - Sibbo can pick the drz up on the way through ... afterward he can just drop it off in my driveway and I can stick it away when I get home  How does that sound?

Muzzard
19-08-2005, 06:36 PM
Sounds All Good mate,
But you know I wont ride your bike without you being present.
Might be good to have it there to bolster bike numbers as a static display with some flyers attached... :D

Wobbly
19-08-2005, 06:40 PM
Nah, bugger that - get out and give it a crack  :)

Sibbo - I've got to get going by about 10.30, so if you can swing by around 10 or before on your way out that'd be cool 8)

Muzzard
19-08-2005, 06:54 PM
I thought seeing my wheels would be in Sibbo's YZ, I might be able to show him how to ride a 2 stroke motard...

Thanks to Braxton for letting us run.

A good days riding again at GPTC, Thanks Braxton... ;)
Weather held out for the duration and although damp when we arrived the track soon dried in the sunshine and light breeze.
Sibbo was there first as I think he didnt sleep a wink last night thinking of a semi motarded YZ250.
And it was worthwhile a wait too, wasn't it Brett.
We set about fitting up my wheels to his YZ so he could scorch the earth, and in the second session, he tried just that. (See picture of Sibbo resting)
Dicky as usual was hooting the LC4 around at a reasonably quick pace until he thought he might try the freestyle ramp, as he detoured off the track with an abundance a screeching rubber.... A very nice save Dicky.
Thanks to Jake I punted around the mini during those sessions alternating with my son Matt, Who used to think motards were gay, but now believes only those who own them and dont come to track days are...

A big thankyou to a few people...
Obviously Braxton for the chance to have some track time again...
Rick Wason from Wasons Motorcycles in Wangaratta for the vehicle and assistance with bikes.
HillBilly and son and Rastus for trip over from the Eastern Suburbs,
Hamp and his mate from Ballarat, who just came to support the push and have a look. Good to finally put a face to the name Hamp.
Thanks to you all...

Once again numbers on the day were friggin' shitful...
All those with notes are excused. (Neil)
This is a concerted effort by a few people to get us time REGULARLY on a track inside the Melbourne Metro.
I cant put it any plainer than, If you do not attend these first few sessions, we wont be getting any more. Thats business..

As soon as I have the opportunity to speak with Braxton,
I will post up the next track day.

Wobbly

21-08-2005, 01:09 AM
you guys looked like you had a blast ,and by the looks the few that did turn up came from far and wide ,hamp i feel for you mate coming from ballarat i went to trade school there i thought is was the cold wet verson of hell ,but it did have a great motox track i will give it that .
look like you have the same problem we have over here ,every one wants to do a track day or race ,so the few put in the time and effort and get it sorted out and then the twats dont turn up .or they come once and then dont come back because there not a quick as the thought they were ,i dont care if your 20sec a lap slower than the fastest guys out there, the grin on your face when you take your lid off is just as wide as theirs . :D :D
Keep up the good work muzz
like they say you can lead a horse to water, then shoot the cu-t and push him in

dicky
21-08-2005, 07:25 PM
Yesterday was a blast, but it came at a cost.
I think I need to get fit, or at least a bit fitter than I am now.
I got slower as the day grew longer yesterday coz I couldn't ride the bike fast for more than about 5 laps, my arms were dying.
Today I'm hurting from the fingers on my left hand, all the way up my arm, across my shoulders, back down the right arm to the fingers.
Also got a sore face from grinning so much.
That was a fkkn big slide
I was heading for the fence, tyres first but it would still end badly.
Managed to steer into it and get back upright, more luck than skill, but maybe all those years of crashing have actually taught me something.

Good thing all the other nancy boy wimps didn't turn up, they would have been humiliated by the mighty Sibbo.
Even Son of Muzz would probably have beaten them in a straight 1 lap sprint

Can't wait to do it all again.

Dicky.

jakestein
21-08-2005, 11:38 PM
What nancy boys :)

Depending on Holiday preperation, Girlfriend comitments  and money( I want a sic holiday) I will be there this saturday if the track is available again?

Muzz you can use my bike until it finds its ways back to Echuca.
I wouldn't mind letting it be used as a demo of such to get some bumbs on real bikes not 10" high buzz boxes(Yeah I know some where hiking).

Dicky I had heaps of trouble with my arms at Cobden second time out I had more fluid in me and tryed breathing more evenly it worked well.

Getting some tyres organised for Matt,
So he can bring his CR125 to play with Sibbo.... ;)

Sibbo
22-08-2005, 12:18 PM
Is the offer there again? :D As I am ready and very keen to chase anyone and everyone around.

With regard to being sore, my hip flexors are sore. From holding my left leg out straight for half of the track on the biggest tripple apex lefthander you have ever seen. The same corner that Dicky left one hellofa black line in the smoke screen that he called a blocking move, others called it close to crashing.

I dont know what times I was doing during the day, but I as I did more sessions, I got less tired at the end of it. The old saying of "the more you try the slower you go" might apply in reverse, I hope so.

I must thank Muzz for the rims and a bit of rubber, also Dicky for teaching me how to get through the tripple apex lefthander. If the rims are on offer, I challenge anyone to get away from me* 8)

*: except if you can actually ride, as then I will make an ass out of myself :(

For information on the pic in the gallery, where it looks like I have crashed. No, I was just checking how much lean angle I had left before I touched solid bits of the bike down

Sibbo
22-08-2005, 12:31 PM
Before I forget, as I always manage to get photos taken of my bike, for some reason :?: I do believe I would act as a good medium for media coverage of your business.

So if you are interested, we can get the bidding started at a set of rims, or possibly a supplied bike with your choice of stickers

With sponshorip I will be partial to pushing it a bit further (bigger wheelies/stoppies), as to make sure I get maximum possible exposure. We all know what pushing it a little further will resulting in, dont we?! So all of you people out there who like a show (stunts and crashes), you can make a donation to Sibbo's Sponsorship Fund, AKA bike fix fund :D

Wobbly
22-08-2005, 01:30 PM
Looks like fun 8) Sibbo, you looked like you were really tearing it up around there! Makes me think of wanting a dedicated motard track bike!! Shame that there's not enough track time to warrant it :( Hmm, of course I could always stick some 17's on the KDX once that's back together... :-k

Muzzard
22-08-2005, 04:17 PM
Regular track days?
Isnt at least every fortnight frequent enough?
Most likely every weekend come daylight savings... ;)

Sibbo,
You must first be able to run at the front of the pack, then still have enough go to pull the big wheelies down the straights, stoppies into the corners, and the skill to not bin it on the second lap...

Flash
22-08-2005, 07:37 PM
I have a bucks night/day this Saturday, and if I'm well enough I will be racing 4 wheels.
But it appears the next weekend I should be good to go if Braxton will have us again!!

By the way, I do believe that Sibbo has now had 3 crashes to my 2!!!!
He now owns the title of King Crash!!

Oh and Ash, the title of King Krash is more a philisophical one that something that can be easily rationalised by simple numbers. Just wondering if you guys are still running mini motards? I havent seen
that many at the GPTC for a while now.

If so, there are plans to run scheduled race events, starting next year. :)

Here are the classes that will include the mini motards.

G'Day Azraz,
Yeah we had every intention of running them weekly but I got crook a while back and weren't real up to anything, let alone the 600KM round trip and a day on the mini.
We will be still hoping to keep involved and will no doubt have something in the works for the racing then....

yeah it was an excellent day. I'll say it again 'blatting around that track is faaaaakn fun'. We had about six bikes turn up which made for a good day.
Dicky was punting the LC4 around like a madman, oh and yeah I highsided my scoot a little bit.
The new disc is the ducks nuts, makes slowing down for the hairpin at the end of the straight much better. I'm feathering the clutch a bit now which has stopped the back wheel hammering while trying to back the bike into said hairpin.
Kimo and I will be there on the 18th, so it would be good if you and anyone else with a hankering for some shithot fun to come up too.

Another fantastic day at GPTC thanks to Braxton...
There were a few bikes in attendance and steadily getting numbers up.
Weather was good although got a bit warm as the day wore on..
We had the dirt section operating for those who like to fly, (Me) and it seemed to work out OK,
Thanks Ash for the broom work.
Several of the 'Racing Fraternity' showed up with a real spiffy looking KXF450 and Chas Hern on the CRF450 too.
Welcome to the new members I spoke to on the day,
Glen, and I'm sorry, I forgot the name of our ex-Shannon Johnson bikes new owners name.
The little 250 was good on the day, I have now replaced the switchable ignition maps so the YZ map made for interesting exits from the 2 hairpins at the end of the straight.
I was coming out of the hairpin to start the 3 apex corner in first, but by the time the wheel came back down I was into the first apex of the sweeper and now in third...
Was a good day and I'm looking forward to the next... :D
