View Full Version : PCD / Pitch Circle Diameter

I am trying to correlate a spec sheet of hub configurations so it can be easily referenced for people here to ascertain what wheels can fit where.
THE PCD mentioned is the diameter of the circle that would pass through the centrelines of the mounting holes.
On a 4 or 6 stud hub just measure straight across the hub from the centre of one mounting hole, for the disc for example, to the opposite hole centre.
If you cut and paste the format it makes it easy to read,
So like this please.
Make Yamaha
Model WRF250 2003
Talon OEM replacement hubs
Front
Width 105mm
Holes 6 x 6.5mm
PCD 134mm
Disc flange support diameter 118mm
Rear
Width 154mm
Sprocket PCD 150mm
Sprocket support flange diameter 130mm
Holes 6 x 8.5mm
Disc PCD 134mm
Disc support flange diameter 115mm
Holes 6 x 6.5mm
Now get out the verniers and measure away.
Hubs could be a cheap part able to be bulk purchased soon if we get the basics done quickly.
Obviously the Yamaha ones from 98 up to 2005 are sorted unless there has been a change to dimensions since 2005, up to current 2008 spec YZF / WRF.
I only for-see a width change to the hub if any though.
Need all the others though Honda / KTM and Suzuki would be the most advantageous to get started.

Axle diameters will be another issue but we will deal with that in another thread ;)

Ingenious Muzzard ! Always wished there was a spread sheet of this sorts you could recieve from tha factory not only for hubs but for suspension and motor mount locations! Does this have something to do with those gold or yellow hubs you were showing? Muzz Hubzz i'll order some! I have my 04 ttr and my 00 wr do you need those measures?

Yes it has to do with the hubs mate ;)
Chuck up yours as well even if the appear the same as the other Yamahas.
For the rear width did you want from the outside of each flange and the width from outside of each bearing or outside of each stock spacers? Same with the front where did you want the width? Hope I made this understandable. The measurements would matter because the chain and brake caliper line up right?

Flange to flange for the width of the hub on the rear so we know what the distance between sprockets and rotors are,
From the flange to the outer most edge of the casting for the front, an overall width so we know if it will fit in the forklegs.

I'm quite fond of measuring flanges, I have a special tool to do it too. ;)
I'll do the KTM hubs when I can find some verniers.

Some how i think your 'flange' measuring tool wont cut the mustard on this job Juz, not many hubs have a pcd of 30mm

Muzz is going to cane you for your off topic antics here, just watch. ;)

Dont throw stones in glass houses ;)
So muzz doesnt get upset with my poor humor i will measure up the factory DRZ hub tomorrow to add to the info ;)

Stones suck, I prefer RPG's.

The DRZ should be similar measurements to the Yamaha WR / YZF.
Need the Katoom ones though so keep in thread you needle dicks

It would be nice to keep this thread alive and active by input from others.
Can someone post for certain if Honda wheels also fit the Aprilias,
and the brake rotors in particular please
I know someone that has a fleet of them after a couple of CRF's
that would know ;)
Alirght Muzzard been preoccupied trying to get the 400 on the road , I got the widths and the PCD There a little different than above , How do you measure the disc and sproket bolt holes? 6x ?? Those are the only ones left.
Hey Muzzard, I am more of a visual person not , this shit to me is hard to describe or interpret. Does that look like the correct way you want the PCD? If so thats the same way to measure the bolt flanges for the spoket and disc I think. Your probably sorry you ask or just sorry you have to answer me. Thinking and brainstorming is the foundation of everything!!!I was thinking that with alot of measurement, fitement calculation bla bla you might be able to make a universal hub I think it might all be in the wheel spacers and if you stuck to one rotor and caliper it might be a go !!
I don't know if you want to take it that far? I might have a few ideas or insight to help . Is that how other aftermarket hub are sold. I know most are a straight pull spoke so that would simlify the desihn to use one spoke pattern? Let me know just kind curiouse
Maybe a better drawing might make it more encouraging for the home measurer to fill in the blanks with pics?

Not bad Jason,
You got the idea mate.
If you fill in the measurements on what you have there it should be enough for me to factor in the tolerances here and there ;)

JUst thought I would bring up this topic, as I am keen to find some hubs to adapt to my Gas Gas, I know I am new around here but could, those who have the time PLEASE put their measurements up.
I will put mine up ASAP.
So many wheel set around 2nd hand, just need to find some that fit

do you want the talon hubs to suit Suzuki's as well Muzz???

Why not just email JTR to talon directly and ask them for all the info you require. They should be able to do a copy, paste of the info for all bikes.

KTM wheels will fit your GG.
You need a pair of axle spacers made to suit the 20mm axle on the front as KTM are 26mm of late.
Early KTM (20mm) wheels will fit though
Use the KTM discs as well ;)
