View Full Version : SXV race prep
OK... I have had the bike for 2 weeks, gave it a bit of a run in, now have stripped it down today getting prep'd to race.
Ready for the shock kit to go in, the silmoto pipe came yesterday, triple clamps sent off to TYGA tomorrow and 16.5in front coming soon.
I have to thank Shane as well for help with any questions I had about racing these things.

looking good mate , they are very easy to work on arnt they , do you have a billet oil filter cover ? it should have being an 08 if not order one off dave asap as well as a foam filter an get rid of that airbox lid .
Yeah, very easy to work on. They have been designed well.
I don't know why I didn't get the alloy filter cover... the dealer ordered it on warrenty anyway.
Air filter is on it's way too !
Does anyone here who owns and SXV have a manual that tells you how to check the valve clearences and what the spec for them is. I have a CD that came with the bike that has just about everything from pulling the wheels off to pulling down the engine but I can't find anything to do with valve clearences in there.
I was going to check them now while I had it pulled down but the dealer said I would have to drop the engine.

This is the one Shane's talking about
Thanks for the link. I downloaded it and it is pretty much the same thing I have but just a bit more in order and easier to understand.
I can't find the procedure for checking clearances though.
I really just wanted to know if they tell you to drop the engine to check or if there is a way to check them without dropping it.
I guess I will soon find out.

I think you have to drop the engine. Try over at AF1, i'm sure I read it there.

yes you have to drop the engine to do it but it only takes 30-40 min to drop it out and have it sitting on the bench , thats from wheeling your bike into the work shop .
as your bike sits now it would take about 10 min to have the engine out ,then its te same as checking any other valves , and your clearances are on the disk
Yeah thanks shane, I think that is what I will do.
Clamps sent to Matt today via express becasue it was only $5 more that airmail.... jeeze they have long address over there hahaha.
Should see them next week.
