By the years end would like to have a new roadbike.

Ruled out are, full fairings, low clip-ons,Honda,Buell,Ducati anything over 16k on-road.
Ruled ok, sounds horny looks tough go's like a rocket and gains mass kudo's

I like the kawa z1000 in green.

I am set on a new Speed Triple in black 8) But yellow/blue would be ok at the right price :P

Second hand is ok too.

Whats out there?

Aprilia Tuono!
Ride one and you will know that words cant describe the stunting fun that you will have, but you will lose your licence in a matter of seconds!
Only problem, it is a bit on the $$ side of 16K, but maybe secondhand?

Well I have a perfectly wicked wr450 motard that is quicker then my freinds 1200 buell ;).
I rode it for a few minutes the other day and although quick it was hella boring, in a why buy a bike like this and live in Echuca way.

Do you know if AJs in Shep has a Speed Triple on the floor?

I still can't understand your fascination with buells muzz, must be too much time spent around agricultural machinery

Stick a real motor in a frame, not some nancy boy pushrod cafe groupies idea of a nice ride

What would a 'clean' wrecked r1/gsxr1k go for around the $5000 mark?

I was looking at a zx10r thinking it would be one bad ass fighter that black frame is tough.
Any sites with photos or genral info?

At work we had 15 ol MT mags looking at bikes.

I was given one and told "look two Buells on the cover" I looked for a minute then relized it was a sportser and a fatboy LMT woop woop chrome thing (nailing into me that Buells are just harleys)

A few Aprllia Tuono' for under 16k (2 both 01 models)

Maybe a field trip to the auctions might be on the cards!

Found some photos on the Fowles website.

There are some real wrecks out there  :P
Wouldn't dare buy unseen tho

A real nice blue 03 R1 with 4000km

How many bikes have the technical advantage that is offered in a Buell as standard equipment?
Like having the oil tank in the swingarm to keep weight centres down, and fuel in the frame?
Perimeter brakes, WP suspension, billet everything and that oh-so-fat twin rumble... :wtf:
Lending itself to laptop performance mods and suspension setup from WP catalogue bits, I'd say I would punt one a shit load faster across the Tawonga Gap than your average R1 Streetfighter... :shoot:

We are talking about motard style of riding aren't we? You know torque outta the tight corners and then hold it through into when it makes power, put the front wheel back down for a moment, then start slippin' on in again... :smokin:
Thats what I'm wanting a Buell for...
We all know R1 go fast in straight line, thats why blokes who cant ride a greasy stick up dogs arses buy them...

Not excluding the Speed Triple though...

Of course you could always keep the oil in the engine where it belongs

Have to agree with sibbo here though (no, really!), I reckon you should have a crack on a ktm 950 and an aprilia Tuono first and see whether something that actually has some hp might not be a better deal if you're going to go for something that weighs that much ;)

A Buell XB12, Dyno Commander, Laptop, Screamin' Eagle Catalogue, WP catalogue and some nifty cow printed leathers to go with the new paintwork,..
What more could a 'Muzz' wish for? 8)

I am sure I can crank out stupid amounts of mumbo from a new Buell.
Not worried about the weight factor too much Neil, I'll go faster into the corners and use inertia to keep upright as I slide it in...
Prillia parts are too expensive and hard to lay hands on easily, eh Mr new Ti can?
Katooms are poorly finished these days, and if they had more than one friggin demo to the whole country maybe I'd get a chance to ride one...

If I want to go crazy on some twistie roads the WR will be ridden, this bike is just something to do long hauls while looking sweet :)

With a chance of me moving to Newcastle in the next six months dont wanna be doing that trip home on the wr

The Speed Triple is still looking good but the price is pushing me at the moment( $1000 bucks cheaper then the 04 and twice the bike tho :D )

KTM 950 no way

Aprillia Tuono a big maybe :?

Will be on the gold coast in a few weeks For Bike Week so heaps of demos

If you can't save really, really hard and get the super duke, maybe have a look at the suzuki SV1000? It comes in a faired and un-faired version, V-twin grunt and pretty cheap. I saw an 04 model (me thinks) on ebay with remus cans plus heaps of other shit starting at $11 k.

Doesn't have upside downies tho, which is sort of off putting in the "looking horn" stakes.

But...you could always pick one up cheap, and throw in some nice ohlins forks and still keep under $16 k.
One of these would make a great project...

From a test ride on a SVs1000 (half faired) they are nice and smooth, but not nearly as ballsy as a tueno. You can get em for heaps less, but you would need to spend heaps on the motor to make it real fun.

1st gear is childs play for wheelies, but no go in second (power, not clutch). Depends on what you like.

Maybe have a look at this...

-It's close to what you're after,

-It's a bit different,

-It's priced about right...
