http://www.motorcyclesportsmen.com.au/track-days-2008.html
...come sportsbike hunting!
Are you signed up Paul?
Err, nevermind, saw your other post.
Cya there. :D
i will be there!!! wrist heavily strapped hahahahaha
Ha, that's the spirit. I was amazed at how much easier it is on the body than a SM track anyway.
Are you guys racing on the sat/sun as well? I can't see the supp regs yet, but they should be up soon.
yeah thats why i am confident of being there
not sure i was going to but see how i feel closer to date, plus i will get flogged due to lack of track time
Flogged by Gordon, maybe. By me, certainly not.
These RR shenanigans aren't really in my comfort zone just yet.
you are just talking yourself down, so everyone else will get confident then youll come out and smash us
Devo - I'm signed up, I sent you an email asking if you were going, perhaps you didn't get it, I thought you were just giving me the silent treatment!
The Superduke will have the track bodywork fitted and hopefuly the Husky is coming out to play too.
Any other Qlders?
Whatever mato, even you are quicker than me, hahaha.
Nah, no silent treatment Paul, didnt get that one. I'm very jealous of the options you have now.
still cant catch gordon aroungd the bigger track?
should be a good weekend!
Supp regs are up

This thread is worthless without helmet cam footage. ;)
What was the end result there?? Did VSMR ever decide on a cam system that was any good, was actually available, and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
I'd go one.

No we could never settle on what was deemed minimum acceptable specification.
Now every bastard has 'em
oops, sorry I didn't notice the day was full, It still had a link to the application form - I never spotted the big red writing off to the left that says FULL.
I've got a couple of recording devices I can bolt to my bike.

I'll be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Don't know if I'll make work Monday. Let's see how many guys we can get from here racing Saturday & Sunday. You'll never have a better time carving up the road bikes on your tard. Going to enter formula 3. I think that is the right one for the Motards.
Anyone looking for free entry? I am looking for a pit helper.
Look forward to seeing you all at Morgan Park.
Maico 949
undecided on racing i think i will be to slow and coming last doesn't appeal 2 me
It felt very strange to me, but with a bit of road bike background, you'd do just fine I reckon Jovian.
see how the wrist is i guess

Wrist # (fractures) depending on which bones are involved can be quite debilitating injuries that should be treated with the utmost care during the first 3 - 4 weeks until the # stabilises at least.
Intense passive physio as pain allows then a more aggressive treatment regime as soon as the cast is removed.
To re-injure the wrist can be a big issue Jove so think carefully mate ;)
Good luck to those racing though and hope you all make inroads on the sportbikes.
Except for Paul of course who should be at the front of the sportbikes :P
Look how much stuff I can fit in the van!

The trackday on Friday started off overcast but luckily the rain stayed away.
It was a very well organised day, thanks to the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Qld for a great day. All bikes were fitted with transponders and the lap times were checked to ensure people were in the correct group. I started in the nobber group on the SuperDuke and was moved to the next group after lunch, my times were hardly earth shattering as I seem to have lost any semblance of smoothness and corner speed. I was all over the shop, trying too hard but saw an improvement on the fourth session when I went out and had fun.
I did 4, 15 minute sessions on the big bike before switching to the Husky for the last 10 minute session. It's worth noting that it was the first time I have ridden the Husky and the suspension needs a bit of tweaking ...I lapped 1 second per lap faster on the motard and it was so much more fun. I was very animated when I got back to the pits!
Devo, Maico 949 & Mato01 were racing in the supermono class on Saturday and Sunday, I hung around on Saturday to help out and take some pictures but ended up looking for my van keys for most of the morning (found under the rear wheel of my bike!).
Some pics from Saturday at Morgan Park...

thats a nice van ;) well its whats on the inside that counts ;)
Supermono turned into a motard race away from home. Times fell and the XT660 and supermono's got sent to the back. End result for the weekend; SXV550 1st, KTM525 2nd (me), SXV550 3rd (Maico949 with a crash), KLX450 4th, SXV550 5th (mato). All three of us were reeling off times that put us exactly mid pack in the 600 supersports. Not bad for a going for the glorified ag bikes.
Both Maico949 and Mato had a crash, while I rather spectacularly (if I do say so myself) used up 8.75 of my 9 lives and undeservedly stayed on.
The SXV550's are very nice around this track, and it's the first time I've been seriously wanting for more power. The above picture with myself and mato is near enough to redline in 6th gear (150/160km/hr), ktm pinned to the stop, sxv rolling it on. Do not go to a RR track and ride with Aprilias, the envy is unbearable.
Thanks for the photos Paul, and thanks for the van space Gordon. Till next time.... ;)

well one guys it looks like it was a blast :-}}
Good to meet some of you on Friday, Sat and Sun. I met Gordon and Devo... good blokes.
I was out there racing my Superstock GSXR 600.
R1 - 3rd
R2 - 2nd
R3 - making the move for 2nd and lowsided :(
Best lap time of 1.07.2
Can't wait to give the Ape a go. I should have it out for the next round to mix it up with you blokes. Will be a good weekend racing both machines. :D
Nice pics too by the way and good on you Gordon, I watched you lead a few laps in the the last race.
I saw the poor gixxer doing the trailer swap at the end there. Condolences.
You seemed to be getting around fine and on two feet though, so not all bad.
Yeah mate, sore right ass cheek... so pretty good considering the crash hahaha.
She be right for the next round.

A great weekend was had at Warwick. Ended up third overall for the weekend in my first official road race. The first unofficail one was when I got chased by the cops, but that's another story. Good to see Devo and Mato mixing it up on the track. Steve and I had a really good battle in the second leg. We had a lot of fun passing and repassing each other and no fear of taking each other out. In the third leg we were 1 - 2 in the first few laps. Unfortunately an experienced road racer by the name of John Newton (Mr Bridgestone) spoiled my fun by coming from 3rd to take my glory. Just as well he is a good guy. The only downer of the weekend was the attitude of the road race guys being pissed off because they were getting beat by chook chasers. The supermorons, sorry, I mean supermono's accused us of cheating. If we hadn't been there, they would not have been racing at all as there were only 2 of them and we made up the numbers to make the class up. Sexyv, sorry to see the mess of your road bike. It would make a grown man cry. Hope you get it all fixed up for the next meeting and get your Aprilia going and come and join in the fun Maico 949
