To all on the eastern seaboard.

Many of you knew Nig Dickin (aka Krumm), and many may not have known him. For those of you who knew him I just wanted to share this.

Up til now it has not been broadly known but I have been rallying resources to try and get Nig's SMR450 fixed up and ready for sale to get as much money as is humanly possible back to the Dickin family.

I can now say that I have been flattened by the generosity of those who I have approached for assistance.

With my hand on my heart, I want to say that I am deeply grateful to:

Graham and Rod at Polaris (Husquavarna) Central in Midvale.
Brian at Spoke Wheel Services in Midvale
and last but certainly not least,
The Paul Feeney Group, Australian Distributor for Husky.

The job is far from over, but these guys have got it well on its way.

Thanks
Mitch

That's great news Mitch - what a fantastic idea.

Let us know if there is any assistance that we can provide

There are some fellas on this forum that would like to know when the bike is ready for sale and get the opportunity to bid on it also...
If you get any pictures of the build Mitch, we would be happy to have them posted up with of course a pump for the business providing the service... :)

OK fellas on Muzz's advice,

Ive never done this before, so lets give it a whorl.

The bike is a 04 100th aniversary Black Husquavarna SMR450. Nig brought it in Sydney brand new and trailered it to Canberra, before trailering it to WA, where he did some road riding before he lost his license for doing a mono, and then turned the bike to the track.

To give you an idea of how much he loved this bike, you have to appreaciate the detail in its preparations. For instance, the sticker number plates have 'supermotowa.com' embosed into the border, the oggy knobs have inner bearings so the roll along instead of scraping along the ground if the bike goes over (my personal favorite), peg scrapers that have allen key lugs that fix them to the brackets on which they are held so he can replace old ones with new ones in about two seconds, and a hand made alloy catch can. You have to see it to believe it.

On the Vale Nigil Dicken link, thats Nig popping a mono on it on the inner straight at wanneroo.
I have a shitload of photos of this bike prepped for the track but as I am a gumby I dont know how to attach them on this thread.
If anyone wants photos then email me.

Whatever the case the bike was mint. The damaged was sustained by end over end cartwheel, so many little things are busted, and a couple of big things. But the guts of the bike is unmarked, including frame, engine, tank, seat, rear wheel, and forks (appear straight but still need to be formerly assessed).

I know that before the accident the bike was worth about 10K. We have another rider over here with the exact same bike, and one immac one in a dealer both for around the same money (9-10K).

What I am trying to do is establish the total cost to repair all damaged parts to the bike then we can decide what it is worth in about three different states:

1) sell as is
2) presentable and rideable (registered for road or track) but not immaculate
3) repair to immaculate (not a scratch on it)

In discussions with various people, we have established that it is probably not worth the risk for us to invest the money into repairing it to immaculate.

Therefore, it is for sale as is, or repaired as a racebike.

Offers over 5K for the bike 'as is' would be considered
Offers over 8K for the bike presentable/rideable would be considered
Offers over 9K for the bike immaculate.

I can provide a full damage list, most with parts numbers, and a list of all of the road registered gear the bike would be sold with. This list was made upon visual inspection only by Polaris Husquavarna in WA, by me, and by another potential buyer. Our appraisals were pretty consistent.

By monday or tuesday I should have the costs of replacing damaged parts and will be better placed to talk $$$.

Any enquires can be emailed to ellenbr@bigpond.net.au

Cheers

For those interested, I've moved all of Krumm's photos from the husky gallery into a sub-album of his own ... you can see the pics he uploaded by clicking on the image below ... these include pics in its 'original' for with ACT plates, then some of his handywork, then as a race bike ...

http://vsmr.net/albums/krumm/Vale_Nigel_Dickin_Medium.highlight.jpg (http://www.vsmr.net/modules.php?set_albumName=krumm&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php)

Any other images that people come across of krumm or his bike can be uploaded into the same gallery or email them to me and I will do so...
