My bike packed up at the Island on the weekend.
No spark at all.
I figure it's either the coil or the CDI.
I'm hoping it's the coil as I reckon a CDI will have me off the road for months if they are silly money.
If anyone has an LC4 CDI lying around that I can use to test then let me know. I'll test the coil with the end of my tongue today. ;)
Cheers,
Juz.
whats going on with LC4's atm?????
plenty of LC4's on here so hopefully someone will be able to help you.
I am assuming it still turns over but is just lacking a spark?

Exactly Paul, just no spark.
Was Sat, rode it around the outside of the track a few times, parked it near the expo tent, came back 1/2 hr later and no go.
Bloody electrickery.
I'm checking the electrical part of Creepers LC4 thread at the moment.
I'll get it sorted, it can only pretty much be one of two things or just something daft.
The other thing I figure it could be crank sensor which lets the coil know its around TDC and the coil needs to go zap.
Maybe someone new who you were , and did something to your bike?

Did you think of that youself Einstein?
Maybe they did, yeah, someone brought a tazer and zapped my electrical system.
Would have been a hell of alot easier to take off my petrol cap and fill my tank with dirt if that was the case don't you think?
Got something for ya mato, maybe you could be their mascot:

It's da Coil.
There is no resistance between the coil lead wire and ground on my digital eletrickerometer but there should be. :(
$101.20 RRP.
Thank fuck it's not the CDI.
Maybe I can fit the big red coil out of the car in it... ;)
Better fill up the ipod, I can see a month of bus travel coming on.

The part is Japanese (Kokusan), go figure, lol.
I think Kokusan is Japanese for Son of Cock but in this case it's Son of Bitch.

Just doing a cross reference on parts against Jap ones.
I may be able to get an identical item as a jap spare cheaper.
Kokusan IG3826 1996 onwards.

And for all you traitors who will not support local business and wonder why you get shit service from local struggling bike shops when continually buying OS....
Even with the current AUD/USD exchange it's cheaper to buy the part in Oz.
And I have recall if it's fucked or DOA.

With a lot of euro parts its a choice between getting robbed blind and getting robbed insanely. A 2c brembo brake micro switch from them was about 15 bucks which was pretty ridiculous until you compared it to the aprilia and ducati list price of about $80.

Are you serious, you can order something and pay for it then it takes two months to get the fucking item, from your local shop who doesnt really give a shit. mmmm or order something from US or Europe, and shazam a week or two later its delivered to your door.......mmmm which way will i go? Bike shops in Aus love to take the order, they just dont know how to finnish it!
Im with you Mato... I could have swam to italy and got my parts in the time it took the dealer to get them.

Kewl, each to their own opinion.
Now, which one of you was it again that was going to try and get some sponsorship money out of these non-supported local shops? ;)
You would have to be a bit of a dickhead to even try.
Wait, we have a dickhead.
Mato, have we got the job for you.....
Zac, why not go down the road and buy the indicators off the shelf if they are there?
i supported a local company 3 months later still no wheels...........

Looks like it's a case of damned if you do or damned if you don't.
Sorry to hear about your plight Jovian.
I waited nearly a year for a set of talon hubs for my TTR, by the time they came I had no TTR so the importer had to wear that one.
Mato, Are you surprised you get shit service with your attitude and disfunction? If you walked in to a shop I was working in with your stinkin attitude, we were going broke (coz every prick boutght overseas) and I had fifty of what you were wanting to order in stock we would suddenly have none, what a shame.

Hey dick with ears? Why would i endorse a local business that wouldnt be able to get my bike ready in time to race, i wouldnt make the start?
If you are talking to me then it's simple, It's because you are a fucking moron.
You have a race bike and don't prepare it yourself? hahahaha.
Relying on a shop to get your poor bikey bikey ready to race, ROFL.
It's a shame blokes like Sibbo with personlity, knowledge and a sense of humor leave the forum and maggot trolls like you hang around.

Maybe if you gave the right service and didnt bullshit people you wouldnt go broke? Im always going to purchase from a business that delivers. now read it carefully, very carefully, FROM SOMEWHERE THAT DELIVERS. If you can get that right, ill buy something from you?
Oh wankstain? that good, did you get that from a 5 year old kid down the road?

You telling me every bike shop in Australia is shit?
Go forge a relationship with one.

The answer is 42 Neil.
Coil saga...
I emailed every dealer in VIC, ACT, NSW today, I got a few email replies which was good but none in shop stock, one dealer even rang me at work to tell me he couldn't help. That's good service. Roe's in Warrnambool I think it was.
Resorted to ringing KTM and asking what they can do for me as backorder was going to be 2-6 weeks.
I explained the bike off the road plight, that I don't like the smelly people on the train and the fact that I would go insane shortly if I can't ride my motard and the really decent guy in spares there is getting me one express in he reckons about a week. I'll give it a buffer of two.
He's even sending it to my local dealer when it comes in.
I'm happy with that. That is good service. +1 for KTM Australia.
What? Why dont they rip one off the display model, give that to you NOW, and replace it with the new one in two weeks? THAT would be service.
Bloody KTM's ;)

Ain't none of my bike left anymore mate. :P
It's a porky carby dinosaur compared to the new one with the much needed cog in the box.
It's been superceded by the 690SMC which I am starting to have an intense desire to own. I'll ring them again tomorrow and ask about what the story is on if they are bringing them in and then report what they say. :)

Well, just to go out in pity it looks like my husky is going to be in the shop for another week :( Dropped it in for a service and told them to look at timing chain as the motor seemed to be getting a bit noisy :!: Ended up being the rollers on the rockers failing :x So warranty claim in, and no bike for probably another week

I'm not really smiling right now, I fitted the new coil, now I can't find the fucking key and even if it all came together there is absolutely no juice in my tank at all, not even enough to get to a servo so it looks like I'm cutting up the garden hose to syphon out of the car into the bike, lol. Not plug cap
Not plug
Not coil
Not an earth problem
Not neutral switch or sidestand switch
Not battery
Not any of the switches
Not any of the fuses
May be
CDI
Pulse generator
How do I check the pulse generator?
Manual is no help.
Should it have continuity once every 360 degrees or the like. Or should it have resistance? Anyone got a haynes or cymer manual for the LC4?

I had the problem on mine twice, two seperate problems:-
1) open circuit near battery connection under seat, wiggled the wires and it was sorted, could never find the exact location of the fault,
2) open circuit behind headlight, ie wiring loom, one of the connectors had broken off from the vibes.

Tanks for the tips though, I'll be checking them again before I give up and dump the piece of crap at a dealers. :)

No need for fuel though, I got no spark.
