Well went for a ride tonight crusing around, WAs doing some doughnuts and the back wheel wouldn't stay spinning so i gave up and on leaving the my friction point went from a bit past half way to the lever pretty much all the way out.

It was slipping like a peguin down a ice covered hill, Not even really slipping it felt like it was engaging propely. The bike jsut Revved its nuts off!

Any help to save my life would be much appreciated. I want to fix this without dads help! Or hopefully i didn't fry the clucth or im am completely fuck.

Drain the oil, take the RSH engine cover off and pull the clutch out. Measure each clutch plate with a set of verniers. If they are under sized they need replaced. If they are just glazed, then rub each of the friction plates (not the steel plates) on some flat, hard concrete. Then bolt it back together and see if it makes a difference or not.

Another trick i has used a couple time is rotate the plates. Ie put the inside ones on the outside. Only do this if they are all the same.
I have found this gave me a couple more months out of a clutch usually

Check everything else first though. I bought a Yamaha RT100 kids bike for $300 with a non working clutch. Pulled it all apart and the plates were all fine so I pulled the rubber back from the lever to check adjustment. Turned out the cable wasn't in the groove properly, it was wrapped out and around the lever and holding the clutch in the on position. A mate paid over $1500 for his kids RT100 so mine turned out to be a bit of a steal.

You can "re-set" the springs, by taking them out and stretching them in your hands then put it back together.

You can put some washers on top of the springs to make them push down more and apply more force onto the clutch plates.

Or you could accept the fact you fucked it and get some new plates

Do the job yourself Zac. There is no need to give a dealership money for a job you do at home ya bludger, its not like your working to hard to find the time :lol:
they will charge enough for parts, fuck giving them money for labour.

Get a workshop manual and do it yourself, their is a PDF file floating around with all the info you need ;)

I have a work shop manuel for it!

There are two reasons for it ;

1. Dad told me not to, considering the reaction i got from him without telling him about the skids i don't want to fuck it more.

2. I don't have to pay for it :lol:

X2. 15 minute job, don't even have to drop oil just lay it on it's side. Just replace everything exactly as it came out, some bikes have slightly different plates in different positions. Even if you're not paying for it, it's still gonna take time for the shop to get around to doing it.
