So do people organise day or night rides?
Better to go to the track, no tickets! there is one on tomorrow, day includes dirt, night is tarmac only. You'll need helmet, leathers, boots. You'll be able to get a day license. Anyone else have something to say?

for the practice sessions you don't even need full leathers
we all advise it incase you decide you have had enough and throw your bike down the track.....
this is copied off the Motorcycle sportsmen of Qld website in there practice calender
Minimum Safety Gear: Boots, Jeans, Bike Jacket, Helmet & Gloves
I would strongly recommend a track day if you have only just got the bike to give you some time to get used to how it handles in a safe environment, session is $50 and if you don't have atleast a MA Recreational license you can get a day one for $20

Sounds good, might look at it in the new year. Many people turn up for these days? Considering I havnt ridden in 3 years and never ridden tard b4 would be interesting to say the least.
BTW Spoon whats the URL for that website?
Dont worry, just go and have ago. sometimes alot sometimes only a few,
SM610 here, recent purchase too, and heading to the cart track in the new year.
by kato's i meant 525/450

you can ride as fast or as slow on the track as you want
I just love it because it gives you a chance to watch others and also a chance to redefine or hone your skills

Does your bike have to have a catch can and all that other jazz to have a go?
They are lenient with newcomers, but as a courtesy I'd recommend putting plain water in your radiator, and feeding all your carby hoses into any old bottle zip tied somewhere.

And if your more into the street scene post for a ride and see who reponds.
There are quite a few Brissy based riders here and if you post it might encourage them to do so as well ;)
Or just head out to the track on a saturday night even if you're not going to do the track day. There would have been 20+ street motards out there, and you can organise a street ride from there.

I'm always keen to get together for a ride, just need a few days notice.
yeah I'm always up for a ride. Just let us know when.
Just FYI on the Monday track days - there aren't any more day sessions. Night sessions are still on though. But thus means no dirt practice what so ever. Not enough people were turning up to make it feasible.
Yes Elle, you bloody slacker.

im up for a ride anytime. although my kato still only has knobbies :( but i could always bring the suzuki sporty if your planning on heading towards the twisty bits.
I'm up for a ride anytime I'm back in Qld which isn't that often admittedly. Husky is track only due to lack of rego but my Superduke plays well with Motards.
Rob - I don't believe you have shared the news of your purchase with the group, how about posting a pic.

Hey fellas i just bought my 08 Berg today. I am keen to get out and have a ride once it is run in properly.
Not knowing much about big singles and not reading the manual, i stuffed with the idle screw thinking it was the choke. She is running rough as guts and won't idle, so i have to get it back up to Pro Griffin.
I had Barkbusters fitted and axles sliders are on order. I am now saving for a FC front number plate and a full Akra system.
I am keen for some SM trackdays as well. Not QR though, that place sucked big time on my R1!!!

Nice :) What bit of the idle did you mess with, just the idle adjuster (usually a big knob thing) or the air jet adjustment (recessed screw)? If the former then just wind it back. If the latter then wind it all the way in and then back it out until you find approx max idle speed - 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 turns is normally the reasonable range, but I'm sure the setting would be available somewhere on the interweb...
Welcome anyways

welcome
btw Queensland Raceway that we have out track days on are Queenland Raceway Gokart track and believe me it is awesome on motard.
The track days you would have done on the R1 would have been at Queensland Raceway main track.

http://www.motorcyclesportsmen.com.au/ thats the website to check for track days, they are pretty slack with updating it and do occasional saturday night session aswel as every first and third monday night sessions. Normally find max of about a week notice on the Saturday ones so just have to keep checking.

Would the Berg and KTM use the same carby? I think i may have to take it to a KTM dealer to sort the idle adjusting wheel. I can't get it back in and the damn bolt for the idle adjusting wheel bracket is some weird allen key size.
It should be just a standard FCR, so any bike dealership should be familiar with it.
Mongtard - can't you ride past Pro Griffin? It should only be a 5 minute job. I've been very impressed with the level of service there.

I took it to Team Moto KTM Virginia. i had to trailer it there. It wouldn't idle. All fixed now. Who is keen for a ride up Glorious or something?
