Does anyone know what records vicroads/cops keep on the records of registered bikes? Engine/frame, capacity, first reg, make, model. Anything else? Like 2/4 stroke?

Would a cop know if a kl 250 was different to a kx500 with the numbers of a aformentioned kl 250?

How hard is it to change engine/frame numbers?

As i have a kl 250, which is easy to reg and then buy a kx 500 and have some kl250 stickers on the kx and then get onto the frame/engine numbers for the kx and bam, reg legal (sort of) kx500.

--What a pissa! I can just see it now..."Honestly sir, i had no-idea".

I'm guessin that if you're riding a kx 500 with different stickers, they'd be looking for any excuse to book ya.
If the frame/engine numbers didn't match, they'd be all over you like white on rice. If they did...well that's another story.

That said, they gotta pull you over first!

You can always ring them (vicroads) up and say that you blew your engine up and replaced it with another one and just fail to mention that its a kx500 motor. Of course you can always do it properly and get an eng cert etc etc if you want to be totally legit and pay the 500 bucks or whatever it costs for it.

Pay the man is the only way it will happen these days, in as much as fork for the engineers certificate.
But before you even approach an engineer, get the wheels and brake upgrade done, fit it with the quietest pipe you can, and an enduro lighting set for at least rec reg to get the lighting happening.
I used a lighting coil ex KDX175 I think when I did my last one, but not sure now its been a while and the dementia is gettin' a hold...
Screw all that shit anyway, if you were a real 2 stroke man you'de be all over that ATK 700 and gettin' it on alcohol as quick as possible.
