Ok peoples, I've just migrated the web site over to its new look from what was just an initial holding site .... hope you like the improvements, as we've gone to a phpNuke managed site that uses a lot of dynamic html that can be configured with news items, modules, etc etc rather than just a bunch of static dumb html!

The forum is now integrated with the site login and I'll be working on integrating other parts of the board, such as integrated chat and gallery soon. Fill in the survey on the front page and let me know what you really think!! ;)

If you have any problems, just PM me or email me as well, I've also stuck up a notice on the opening page to that end in case people have problems with the registration. I tried a new reg myself today after the upgrade and it didn't work, but I think this is because of the email server on the host which i've logged a trouble ticket for, so hopefully that should be sorted out soon....

I think the formatting is excellent Neil, You have done very well and I suggest that sentiment is shared by All that browse/use this forum. As most would not know we are a not for profit group of enthusiasts that are prepared to put the money/time into developing this sport. Accordingly we ask that you be patient with any bugs that are experienced in the initial setup phase. We welcome constructive criticism,... and will hunt down with wild dogs those who bag us out! ...Muzz...

No worries fellas! The registration problem seems to have cleared itself up now (sendmail working again!) so things seem to be back on track :)

Next stop is the integrated gallery and chat

Ok, got the gallery migrated over from the HOS that came pre-packaged .. its the same gallery software and looks the same, but behind the scenes its all controlled by me now instead of being shared with the pre-packed site setup, and i think i've fixed up the access errors that were being thrown up before.

You can get to it through the main page in the horizontal bar above the greeting line. I'll also work on including the integrated blocks that work within the main body of the web site as well. You can go directly to the gallery through the following URL http://vsmr.net/gallery and link directly to the albums and pictures (see the stick thread on posting pics for details).

You can browse anonymously or log in, but you'll need to get a specific login for the gallery as that bit isn't integrated with the board yet because of the way its been written. I've already set up a few users with some default passwords and I'll PM you the details for them, but PM me if I haven't and I'll set up up quickly - only takes about 2 minutes

Thanks,

I'll post something to it when I have something worthwhile.

One comment, you can't seem to get back to the main VSMR pages once you hit the gallery.
I couldn't see any link.

I had also found that Dicky, Neil will no doubt correct that and place a link on each page to return you to home...
Neil, Did you get the forwarded email from Lee regards placing our logo onto the frontpage of Supermoto Masters site?...
Also is there a way to correct the clock for EDST/eastern Australia?....Muzz...

Yeah, I noticed that about the lack of link back to main page meself ... I'll see about changing the php code that comes with the gallery package to be able to embed that ... time zone wise, the forum is set up to use GMT+10 (aus est) but doesn't cope with daylight savings ... the main page seems to be stuck on US time, but I'll see if I can't change that ...

hokay, gallery link back to home in place (top right) and we're linked from the yamaha supermoto masters site 8)

I also submitted the site to various search engines which should trickle through soon. The most important listing (google) is already returning something if you search on "victoria" and "motard" 8) 8)

Righteo then, next cab off the rank is the integrated calendar which all registered users should now see on the main page ... this contains the motard related events relevant to vsmr and anyone can add events to it, which get routed through to the admin (ie. me) to approve before they get posted.

I'd prefer to skip the last step myself but can't do so without having to change a bunch of the code, and I've already spent enough time tonight doing just that to get the @&*^*%# thing working under this version of phpNuke and cleaning up errors that were already in it.

Lemme know if there's any probs

Cool - I did the whole search engine submission thing a while back, but seems to take a bit for them to parse out all the meta tags in the html and get all the keywords. You should also get hits if you search on something like 'victoria motard' or 'supermoto victoria' etc., although with some searches you need to go through a few pages (seems to get lower ranking if you don't have a lot of content that refers to a specific keyword).

It's funny, I submitted to about 10 different search engines but 99.999% of the traffic will just come from google anyway
